Vibration control design of motor stator using dynamic absorbers, imperfect mass and elastic supports

    Get PDF
This paper deals with the quenching problem of electromagnetic vibration of the motor stator in the wide frequency region around the natural frequency. The iron stator is modeled by a perfect circular ring. To quench its vibration, single mass is set on the stator, it is supported by the two springs, and a pair of dynamic absorbers is installed on the outside of it. The solutions of forced vibration are obtained by the theoretical analysis. Following was made clear: (1) The vibration quenching effect may be improved by using an imperfect mass and spring supports in addition to the dynamic absorbers. (2) If an imperfect mass is set to be effective for cos mode and spring supports are set to be effective sin mode, and a pair of dynamic absorbers are installed as those makes the space which is almost same as the space between the loop and the node of the quenching target mode, higher quenching effect is obtained. (3) When the two dynamic vibration absorbers are optimally designed, the natural frequency ratios and the damping ratios are almost the same as when imperfect mass and elastic supports are not used

BACKGROUND: This study examined the effects of immersion in stirred, high-concentration, artificial carbonic acid water on body cooling. METHODS: Seven healthy male students (23 ± 2 years old) participated in the experiment. Signed informed consent was obtained from all subjects before the experiment. The subjects changed into shorts and T-shirts and entered an experimental room (with room temperature controlled at 30 °C and relative humidity maintained at 70%) at least 30 min before starting the experiment. After starting the experiment, the subjects were asked to rest on an exercise bike for 5 min and then pedal for 20 min. The exercise load was set to reach 50% of each subject's presumed maximum oxygen intake at 5 min after starting exercise. Subjects then continued pedaling for 1 min to cool down. After this exercise, subjects sat on a chair and immersed forearms in tap water or artificial carbonic acid water (CO2 water) at 25 °C for 20 min. During immersion, tap water or CO2 water was stirred slowly with a pump. After immersion, subjects rested for 10 min. Skin temperature and skin blood flow (left forearm), as well as heart rate and ear canal temperature, were measured continuously. Thermal sensation and thermal comfort were measured intermittently. RESULTS: Skin blood flow of the immersed forearms was higher in CO2 water than in tap water during immersion. The blood flow in the last 5 min (average at rest was 100%) was significantly higher in CO2 water (290.85 ± 84.81%) than in tap water (104.80 ± 21.99%). Thermal sensation and thermal comfort were not different between conditions. Ear canal temperature significantly declined more in CO2 water (- 0.56 ± 0.31 °C) than in tap water (- 0.48 ± 0.30 °C) during immersion. CONCLUSIONS: Our study suggests that immersion of the forearms in slowly stirred CO2 water at 25 °C reduces core temperature elevated by heat stress or exercise more effectively than does tap water at the same temperature. Immersion of the forearms in stirred CO2 water at 25 °C could be useful as a preventive measure against heat stroke from summer work or exercise

A Note on the Conceptual Frameworks of IFRS

    No full text
The purpose of this note is to clarify income computational issues in the conceptual frameworks. To accomplish the purpose, this note focuses on the general purposes of financial reporting and the elements of financial statements which are stated in two IASB's frameworks in 2010 and 2018 as well as IASC's conceptual framework in 1989. This note finds some differences among them. For example, as to the general purpose, conceptual framework published 1989 explains stewardship purpose and providing decision useful information purpose separately, but conceptual framework published 2018 merges stewardship purpose in providing decision useful information purpose. However, the most important issue of the conceptual frameworks is the relation between the balance sheet and the income statement. IASB's conceptual frameworks adopt the Asset-and-Liability view, but the conceptual frameworks explain that the main purpose of the balance sheet is to calculate net asset, and income is calculated in the income statement. This relation is different from the one under the FASB's framework. This is one of the issues which we need to investigate.松本睦樹教授定年退職記念号In Honour of Prof. Mutuki Matumot

We have previously developed an efficient and safe transfection method for the kidney in mice: renal suction-mediated transfection. In this study, we verified the detailed characteristics of transgene expression and plasmid DNA (pDNA) in mice to develop therapeutic strategies and application to gene function analysis in the kidney. After naked pDNA was administered intravenously, the right kidney was immediately suctioned by a tissue suction device. We examined the spatial distribution of transgene expression and pDNA in the suctioned kidney using tissue clearing by CUBIC, ClearT2, and Scale SQ reagents. Spatial distribution analysis showed that pDNA was transfected into extravascular cells and sufficiently delivered to the deep renal cortex. In addition, we revealed that transgene expression occurred mainly in peritubular fibroblasts of the suctioned kidney by tissue clearing and immunohistochemistry. Next, we confirmed the periods of pDNA uptake and activation of transcription factors nuclear factor-κB and activator protein 1 by luciferase assays. Moreover, the use of a pCpG-free plasmid enabled sustained transgene expression in the suctioned kidney. In conclusion, analyses of the spatial distribution and immunostaining of the section suggest that pDNA and transgene expression occurs mainly in peritubular fibroblasts of the suctioned kidney. In addition, we clarified some factors for efficient and/or sustained transgene expression in the suctioned kidney.

We previously developed an in vivo site-specific transfection method using a suction device in mice; namely, a tissue suction-mediated transfection method (tissue suction method). The aim of this study was to apply the tissue suction method for cardiac gene transfer. Naked plasmid DNA (pDNA) was intravenously injected in mice, followed by direct suction on the beating heart by using a suction device made of polydimethylsiloxane. We first examined the effects of suction conditions on transgene expression and toxicity. Subsequently, we analyzed transgene-expressing cells and the transfected region of the heart. We found that heart suction induced transgene expression, and that −75 kPa and −90 kPa of suction achieved high transgene expression. In addition, the inner diameter of the suction device was correlated with transgene expression, but the pressure hold time did not change transgene expression. Although the tissue suction method at −75 kPa induced a transient increase in the serum cardiac toxicity markers at 6 h after transfection, these markers returned to normal at 24 h. The cardiac damage was also analyzed through the measurement of hypertrophic gene expression, but no significant differences were found. In addition, the cardiac function monitored by echocardiography remained normal at 11 days after transfection. Immunohistochemical analysis revealed that CD31-positive endothelial cells co-expressed the ZsGreen1-N1 reporter gene. In conclusion, the tissue suction method can achieve an efficient and safe gene transfer to the beating heart in mice.

Factors Influencing Functional Exercise Capacity After Lung Resection for Non–Small Cell Lung Cancer

    Get PDF
Purpose: We investigated, in patients who underwent lung resection for non–small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), the magnitude of early limitation in functional exercise capacity and the associations with pre- and postoperative factors. Methods: Consecutive patients with preoperative clinical stage I to IIIA NSCLC who underwent lung resection were prospectively enrolled. We measured functional exercise capacity (6-minute walk distance [6MWD]) and skeletal muscle strength (handgrip [HF] and quadriceps force [QF]) within 2 days prior to surgery and on day 7 postoperatively. Results: Two hundred eighteen participants were recruited (median age 69 years) of whom 49 developed postoperative complications (POCs). 6MWD was markedly decreased (514 m vs 469 m, P < .001); HF and QF were slightly decreased following surgery. Multiple linear regression showed that preoperative vital capacity (P < .01), QF (P < .05), the duration of chest tube drainage (P < .001), and presence of POCs (P < .05) were significant predictors. However, intraoperative factors were not significantly associated with the decline in 6MWD. Conclusions: These results suggest that patients with preoperative impairments in pulmonary function and muscle strength, and those who require prolonged chest tube drainage or develop POCs are likely to have impaired exercise capacity. Therefore, individual assessment and follow-up of patients with such factors is indicate
