"Make Us a King": An Interpretation in a Dynamic Context
This article aims to interpret the theoretical work of Grossman (2002) in a dynamic context. By modeling an overlapping-generations economy, it argues that taking into account the long-term perspective of young citizens increases demand for an exploitative king, who deters predations for his own sake. Even if the old desire to live under anarchy, the young may find it beneficial to accept the king at the cost of taxation, leading to political conflict between the two generations. The latter’s increasing demand for the king may eventually trigger a regime change, fostering the accumulation of productive resources.departmental bulletin pape
金海大成洞古墳群に副葬された倭系遺物からみた金官国とヤマト王権の対外関係
This paper examines the burial circumstances of Japanese artifacts in the Gimhae Deaseong-dong Tombs, focusing on the 4th century. As a result, a period of change was recognized: the appearance of Japanese prestige goods in the early 4th century, their concentration in Japanese prestige goods in the mid-4th century, and the cessation of Japanese prestige goods in the late 4th century. This makes it clear that the foreign relations between Geumgwan Gug and the Yamato kingdom also changed depending on the period.departmental bulletin pape
七郎廟と七郎神社
Belief in the sea god Zhaobao Qilang (招宝七郎) emerged during the Song (宋) and Yuan (元) dynasties but declined after the Ming (明) dynasty. Nowadays, belief in Zhaobao Qilang is preserved only in Zen Buddhist temples. This study examines the Qilang Miao (七郎廟) in Mainland China and Taiwan and the Shichiro Jinja Shrine (七郎神社) in Japan. Moreover, I also explored variations in the Shichiro legend.departmental bulletin pape
