Objective: The purpose of this study was to find out the relationship between separation individuation and depression in university students. Methods: The sample consisted of 1026 first grade students of Celal Bayar University consisted the sample of this research a Sociodemographic Form, The Separation Individuation Test of Adolescence (SITA) and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) were used in this study. Statistical significance of the relationship between SITA subscale scores and BDI scores was assessed by Pearson correlation test and between SITA subscale scores and depression according to the cut-off values of BDI was assessed by using Student's Nest. Results: 20.6% of the students had depression according to the cut-off values of BDI. The mean score of the BDI was 10.98 +/- 9.02. There was a statistically significant negative correlation between the scores of SITA subscales 'peer enmeshment, 'practicing-mirroring' and 'healthy separation' which indicates positive separation individuation process and BDI scores when there was a statistically significant positive correlation between the scores of SITA subscales which indicates difficulties with separation individuation issues 'separation anxiety', 'engulfment anxiety, 'dependency denial' and 'rejection expectancy' and BDI scores. The scores of 'separation anxiety, 'engulfment anxiety, 'dependency denial' and 'rejection expectancy' subscales of SITA were significantly higher in the students with depression according to the cut-off values of BDI when healthy separation subscale scores were significantly higher in the students with depression according to the cut-off values of BDI. Conclusion: In this study, it has seen that there was a relationship between depression and separation-individuation process in adolescence. Difficulties with separation individuation issues in adolescence, in other words failure in achieve developmental tasks during adolescence could cause depression. No full text
Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF) is the most common Periodic Fever syndrome characterized by attacks like serositis and fever. FMF is an autosomal recessive disease caused by MEFV gene mutations which located on 16p13.3. Spondyloarthropathy (SpA) is a chronic rheumatic disease characterized by inflammation in axial and peripheral joints with enthesitis and extraartricular involvements. One of the major criteria of SpA is sacroiliitis that can be described rarely in FMF patients. M694V mutation has been frequently seen mutation in FMF patients; also it has been associated with SpA. In this article, we present a case of a patient with heterozygous M694V mutation FMF and SpA combination

Anterolateral Thigh Flap Design by Using Suprafascial Course of the Perforator

    No full text
Objectives Recently, anterolateral thigh flap has become one of the most commonly used free flaps in reconstructive surgery. Although its pedicle has relatively sufficient length, it falls short in some circumstances. Eccentric perforator location can be used to lengthen the pedicle, but flap tip viability can be a problem in this case. In addition, partial flap loss can be encountered in perforator flaps. The aim of this study was the use of multidetector computed tomographic angiography in preoperative mapping to overcome these problems. Materials and Methods Anterolateral thigh perforator flap was planned for various soft-tissue reconstructions in 19 patients. There were 15 males and 4 female patients with ages ranging from 19 to 65 years. These patients were evaluated with preoperative multidetector computed tomographic angiography to choose and to trace the course of the perforators. Flaps were designed according to the suprafascial course of the perforators. Perforators were safely located eccentrically when needed. Pedicle length and complications, such as infection, wound dehiscence, and partial or total flap loss, were recorded. Results Perforators were located eccentrically in 8 patients and centrally in the other 11 patients. Eleven flaps were used in lower leg reconstruction, 2 flaps in popliteal region, and 6 flaps in head and neck. All flaps survived and any partial or total loss did not occur. There was not any infection and wound problem. Conclusions Multidetector computed tomographic angiography can reveal the suprafascial course of the perforator and help design anterolateral thigh perforator flap. By using this kind of mapping, perforators can be safely located eccentrically to lengthen the pedicle and partial flap loss can be prevented

The Effect of Cognitive Dissonance Theory and Brand Loyalty on Consumer Complaint Behaviors: A Cross-Cultural Study

    No full text
Consumers tend to exhibit e-WOM behavior or retention behavior or communicate with official channels rather than the brand, which can damage the brand in cases where the channels through which customers are expected to reach the brand for their complaints are dysfunctional. This study aims to examine the relationship between cognitive dissonance and brand loyalty factors as well as their impact on consumer complaint behavior in terms of differences between Turkish and Romanian consumers. For this purpose, a simultaneous quantitative research study was conducted in these two countries, with a total of 790 participants surveyed. The findings showed that the consumers' level of brand loyalty had a significant positive effect on the level of cognitive dissonance, which significantly impacted complaint behavior. On the other hand, it was concluded that brand loyalty did not significantly affect complaint behavior. The comparative analysis revealed that Romanian customers' brand loyalty was higher than Turkish customers', and the dimensions concerning cognitive dissonance and complaint behavior were higher among Turkish customers
