The Implementation of English Curriculum at State Islamic College of Mandailing Natal: An Analysis of Challenges and Opportunities

English proficiency has become an essential skill that significantly influences academic achievement, professional opportunities, and cross-cultural communication. This study investigates the implementation of the English Curriculum at the State Islamic College of Mandailing Natal, focusing on the challenges and opportunities inherent in the current pedagogical framework. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews and classroom observations, involving two lecturers, and thirty students. The analysis revealed that traditional, lecture-based teaching methods, resource limitations of material, and fragmented curriculum delivery pose significant challenges to effective language instruction. Conversely, the study identified promising opportunities, such as the integration of interactive teaching strategies, enhanced use of digital tools, and ongoing professional development for educators, which could bridge the gap between theoretical content and practical application. The findings suggest that targeted curriculum reforms are essential to create a more engaging and effective learning environment, ultimately enhancing students’ English language proficiency and preparing them for academic and professional success

DERIVASI KATA TASBIH DALAM AL-QUR’AN (STUDY ANALISIS LINGUISTIK DAN MAKNA)

  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis morfologi ayat tasbih dalam Al-Quran merujuk pada struktur kata dan kalimat yang mengandung makna tasbih, metode penelitian menggunakan penelitian kualitatif kepustakaan. Tasbih dalam Al-Qur’an digunakan dalam beragam bentuk dan konteks. Lafaz tasbih beserta derivasinya disebutkan sebanyak 92 kali dalam 87 ayat di 49 surat,  derivasi kata tersebut berdasarkan kaidah linguistic terbagi menjadi empat bagian yaitu isim mashdar, fill Madhi, fiil mudhari dan fiil amr. Meskipun demikian, namun semuanya memiliki makna dasar yang sama yaitu mengagungkan dan menyucikan Allah SWT. 

Konsep Komunikasi Dalam Perspektif Al-Qur’an Studi Kasus Manajemen Pendidikan Islam Di Sekolah

This research aims to analyze the concept of communication in the Al-Qur'an, especially those contained in Q.S. An-Nahl verse 125, Q.S. An-Nisa verses 9 and 63, Q.S. Al-Ahzab verse 32, Q.S. Al-Isra verse 23, as well as Q.S. Thoha verse 44, and applying it to the management of Islamic education. The focus of the study is to explore Islamic communication principles that can be applied in building a harmonious, ethical and effective educational environment. The research method used is library research with a thematic interpretation approach. These verses are analyzed to identify Islamic communication values ​​such as wisdom, empathy, politeness and respect. The data collected comes from tafsir books, Islamic education literature, and other relevant research. The research results show that each verse makes an important contribution in forming communication strategies in Islamic education management. Q.S. An-Nahl verse 125 emphasizes a wise approach, polite dialogue and good advice, which are relevant in guiding students. Q.S. An-Nisa verses 9 and 63 emphasize empathy and gentleness in communication, which helps create harmonious relationships between educators, students and other stakeholders. Q.S. Al-Ahzab verse 32 teaches the importance of maintaining politeness in social interactions, especially between genders, which can be applied in communication ethics in educational environments. Q.S. Al-Isra verse 23 teaches respect in communication, especially towards authority figures such as teachers and parents. Meanwhile, Q.S. Thoha verse 44 emphasizes gentleness in conveying messages even in difficult situations, which is relevant in handling conflicts in educational institution

Unraveling the Language Play on YouTube: A Sociolinguistic Study of Code Choice in Online Content

The use of code mixing and code switching is one of the exciting phenomena in social media. This research aims to identify the types of code switching and code mixing and to determine the reasons behind code switching and code mixing in this content. The method of this research employed a qualitative descriptive design. The data of this research were taken from the video “Daniel Tetangga Kamu” with Dewi Sandra's guests for parts 1-3, which focused on the code mixing and switching and the reasons for code mixing and switching between them. In collecting the data, the researcher observes the video, makes a transcription of the recorded data and organizes it into written data, and then classifies it based on the categories. The results showed that the most dominant type of code mixing found on the Daniel Mananta Network is the insertion of words. While the most dominant type of code switching was Intra-sententia, the research revealed that the reasons why the speaker uses code mixing and switching in their conversation were to talk about a particular topic, quoting somebody else, being emphatic about something, switching as an interjection, repetition, clarifying and expressing status of group identity. The implication of this research contributes to revealing that code mixing and code switching were not only prevalent but also serve various communicative functions, reflecting the nuanced ways in which language was used in the context of the YouTube Channel. The insights gained from this research offer valuable implication

Sanksi Tindak Pidana Pelecehan Dry-Humping Dalam Undang-Undang Nomor 12 Tahun 2022 Tentang Tindak Pidana Kekerasan Seksual Perspektif Hukum Pidana Islam

This article aims to examine the sanctions for the criminal act of dry humping sexual harassment based on Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning Criminal Acts of Sexual Violence and the perspective of Islamic Criminal Law. Dry humping is a form of physical sexual harassment committed by rubbing the body on the victim's sensitive area without consent. This research uses a normative juridical method, with a statutory approach and a conceptual approach. Data is obtained through literature study of primary and secondary legal sources. The results showed that in Law Number 12 of 2022, the perpetrator of dry humping can be subject to a maximum imprisonment of four years and/or a maximum fine of fifty million rupiah as stipulated in Article 6. In addition, sanctions can be aggravated if committed under certain conditions as stipulated in Article 15. Meanwhile, in Islamic Criminal Law, this act is included in the category of despicable acts that are close to adultery and are subject to ta'zir sanctions, which are penalties determined by the judge. In conclusion, both positive law and Islamic Criminal Law recognize that dry humping is a form of physical sexual violence that must be sanctioned in order to protect the dignity of victims and maintain moral values in society

Tinjauan Hukum Pidana Islam Dalam Putusan Nomor 71/Pid.B/2024/Pn.Kbm Tentang Sanksi Tindak Pidana Pemalsuan Uang

Tindakan pemalsuan tentunya suatu tindakan yang merugikan masyarakat maupun negara. Pemalsuan uang dapat merusak stabilitas ekonomi dan kepercayaan masyarakat terhadap mata uang yang berlaku di Indonesia. Dalam hukum islam pemalsuan uang bisa dikategorikan sebagai tindakan penipuan  yang mana perbuatan tersebut dilarang dalam islam. Pelaku tindak pidana pemalsuan uang dalam hukum islam dalam dikenai hukuman Ta`zir, yaitu hukuman yang ditetapkan oleh hakim berdasarkan pertimbangan kemaslahatan umum. Tindak pidana pemalsuan uang sudah beredar di berbagai wilayah, sehingga cepatnya peredaran uang palsu ini membat kestabilan ekonomi di Indonesia menurun. Berdasarkan fenomena tersebut, maka penelitian ini berfokus pada pertimbangan hukum hakim dalam putusan Nomor 71/Pid.B/2024/Pn.Kbm tentang tindak pidana pemalsuan uang, unsur-unsur tindak pidana pemalsuan uang dalam putusan Nomor 71/Pid.B/2024/Pn.Kbm menurut Hukum Pidana Islam dan efektivitas Hukum Pidana  Islam degan putusan Nomor 71/Pid.B/2024/Pn.Kbm tentang tindak pidana pemalsuan uang. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan yuridis normatif dengan metode analisis deskriptif. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah pertimbangan hakim dalam memberikan suatu putusan pidana kepada pelaku selalu berpedoman pada peraturan yang ada dan melihat dari unsur yang terpenuhi, dalam hukuman ta`zir yang diberikan oleh hakim sudah cukup efektif untuk memberikan pembelajaran kepada pelaku agar tidak mengulangi kesalahan yang sama lagi

Tasawuf sebagai Jembatan Rasionalitas dan Spiritualitas: Kajian Pemikiran Al-Ghazali dalam Konteks Islam Klasik

The debate on the relationship between rationality and spirituality has been a central theme in classical Islamic thought. Al-Ghazali (d. 1111 CE) occupies a unique position in this debate by criticizing rationalist philosophy in Tahāfut al-Falāsifah and establishing a synthesis between reason and mystical experience in Iḥyā' 'Ulūm al-Dīn and al-Munqidh min al-Ḍalāl. This study aims to analyze how Al-Ghazali formulated Sufism as an epistemological bridge between rationality and spirituality in classical Islam. Using a qualitative approach based on literature study, this study examines Al-Ghazali's main texts and compares them with the thoughts of contemporary philosophers and Sufis. The results show that Al-Ghazali did not reject rationality completely, but positioned reason as a limited instrument that needs to be equipped with spiritual illumination (kashf). This integration allows Sufism to become part of Sunni orthodoxy while providing an epistemological basis for classical Islamic thought. This finding has implications for strengthening the relevance of Sufism in contemporary scientific discourse, especially in developing a paradigm that accommodates both critical reasoning and spiritual awareness in Islamic studies

STRUKTUR BAHASA DAN GAYA BALAGHAH DALAM QASIDAT AL-BURDA

Bahasa Arab klasik memiliki kekayaan struktur dan retorika yang luar biasa, sebagaimana tercermin dalam karya Qasidat al-Burda oleh Imam al-Busiri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji struktur bahasa dan gaya balaghah yang membangun kekuatan estetik dan spiritual puisi tersebut. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik analisis teks, berfokus pada identifikasi elemen tasybīh, istiʿārah, dan jinās dalam qasidah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Imam al-Busiri menggunakan struktur kalimat paralel, pilihan kata penuh makna, serta imaji metaforis untuk memperkaya ekspresi keagamaan. Teknik balaghah yang diterapkan tidak hanya memperindah bahasa, tetapi juga memperkuat pesan spiritual dan emosional tentang keagungan Nabi Muhammad SAW. Kesimpulannya, Qasidat al-Burda merupakan model unggul perpaduan antara estetika bahasa dan kedalaman makna religius, serta tetap relevan sebagai bahan ajar sastra Arab klasik di era modern

Impact of Fieldwork on Students’ English Communication in Hospitality Services

Although English for Specific Purposes (ESP) is a key component of tourism education, limited research has examined how fieldwork experience impacts students’ English communication in real service settings. This study investigates the extent to which field practice improves English proficiency and service readiness among students at Makassar Tourism Polytechnic. Using a quantitative approach, data were gathered through questionnaires and analyzed using validity and reliability tests, a t-test, and R² analysis. Results show that fieldwork has a significant positive effect on students’ service readiness (t = 4.673; p = 0.001), with an R² value of 0.797 indicating that 79.7% of the variance is explained by field practice. The findings suggest that structured field experiences significantly enhance students’ English communication skills and professional competence. The study recommends integrating experiential and reflective learning into tourism curricula to better align academic training with industry needs

PORTAL INFORMASI SOLUSI KOMUNIKASI EFEKTIF MENINGKATKAN PARTISIPASI MASYARAKAT DALAM PEMBANGUNAN DESA

Information technology has the potential to change the way villagers interact in the implementation of development, having an effective communication system to ensure meaningful and targeted interactions. This study aims to determine the information portal as an effective communication solution in increasing community participation in village development in Tanakaraeng Village, Manuju District, Gowa Regency. The current information system still relies on manual methods, which results in delays in data processing and difficulty in accessing the community. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation studies. Observations were conducted to understand the operation of the existing system, interviews with the Village Head, village officials, and the community to identify problems and needs, and documentation studies to explore data related to village development. The results of the study indicate that information portals can increase participation and facilitate access to information for the community so that communication becomes more effective according to the results of the UAT analysis which was stated as acceptable with an average score of 3.5. This study provides recommendations for designing a more efficient web-based information portal, which is expected to increase transparency, accountability, and community participation in the village development process
