    Abstrak. Diabetes melitus merupakan salah satu penyakit tidak menular yang prevalensinya terus meningkat di Indonesia, khususnya di wilayah pedesaan. Kurangnya pengetahuan masyarakat mengenai pencegahan dan pengelolaan diabetes menjadi salah satu faktor risiko utama. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan kader kesehatan Desa Pemangkih Baru terkait diabetes melitus melalui edukasi dan pelatihan. Metode yang digunakan adalah penyuluhan interaktif dan diskusi kelompok kecil yang melibatkan 13 kader kesehatan desa. Materi mencakup pengenalan gejala, faktor risiko, pencegahan, serta penatalaksanaan sederhana diabetes melitus. Evaluasi dilakukan dengan pre-test dan post-test untuk mengukur peningkatan pengetahuan kader. Mayoritas hasil evaluasi peserta berada pada kondisi tetap dan meningkat. Selain itu, kader lebih percaya diri dalam menyampaikan informasi kepada masyarakat dan menjadi mitra aktif dalam upaya promotif dan preventif. Kesimpulannya, pelatihan ini efektif dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan kader kesehatan desa, sehingga diharapkan dapat membantu menurunkan angka kasus diabetes melalui peran aktif kader di tingkat komunitas. Abstract. Diabetes mellitus is one of the non-communicable diseases whose prevalence continues to rise in Indonesia, especially in rural areas. Lack of public knowledge about diabetes prevention and management is a major risk factor. This community service aims to improve the health cadres' knowledge of diabetes mellitus in Pemangkih Baru Village through education and training. The methods used were interactive counseling and small group discussions involving 13 village health cadres. The materials covered the introduction of symptoms, risk factors, prevention, and simple management of diabetes mellitus. Evaluation was conducted using pre-tests and post-tests to measure the improvement in the cadres' knowledge. Most participants showed knowledge that either remained the same or increased. In addition, the cadres became more confident in delivering information to the community and became active partners in promotive and preventive efforts. In conclusion, this training was effective in enhancing the knowledge and skills of village health cadres, and it is expected to help reduce the incidence of diabetes by increasing cadres' active role at the community level

    The Relationship Between Sleep Duration and Life Satisfaction in Middle-aged and Older Adults: evidence from China

    Aging is becoming increasingly common worldwide, which has a profound impact on the social structure, making it imperative to enhance the life satisfaction of the middle-aged and older adults. While life satisfaction serves as a crucial metric for assessing quality of life in aging societies, empirical evidence suggests improvement lags behind advancements in medical technology and living standards. Thus, identifying the key factors influencing their life satisfaction is crucial. We employed data from 12,525 validated samples from the 2020 China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study to examine sleep's impact on life satisfaction through multiple mediation modeling. The findings revealed that insufficient sleep emerged as a widespread phenomenon significantly compromising the life satisfaction of the middle-aged and older adults. Physical health and depressive symptoms mediated 85% of sleep's total effect, with depressive symptoms alone accounting for 65% of the mediation. The disproportionate mediation effect of depressive symptoms highlights mental health's critical role in the well-being assessment of the middle-aged and older adults

    Midwives’ performance is an important indicator of the quality of midwifery services in primary healthcare facilities. Optimal performance is influenced by various individual and work-related factors. This study aimed to analyze the factors influencing midwives’ performance in providing midwifery services at Bontoramba Public Health Center, Jeneponto Regency. This study employed a cross-sectional design. The population as well as the sample consisted of all midwives working at Bontoramba Public Health Center, totaling 33 respondents, selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed bivariately using the Chi-Square test. The results showed a significant association between length of service and midwives’ performance (p = 0.013), workload and midwives’ performance (p = 0.027), and attitude and midwives’ performance (p = 0.013). In conclusion, length of service, workload, and attitude significantly influence midwives’ performance in providing midwifery services. Therefore, effective human resource management is needed to improve midwives’ performance through workload management, development of professional attitudes, and optimization of work experience. Abstrak. Kinerja bidan merupakan salah satu indikator penting dalam keberhasilan pelayanan kebidanan di fasilitas pelayanan kesehatan tingkat pertama. Kinerja yang optimal dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor, baik individu maupun pekerjaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi kinerja bidan dalam memberikan pelayanan kebidanan di Puskesmas Bontoramba, Kabupaten Jeneponto. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain cross-sectional. Populasi sekaligus sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh bidan yang bekerja di Puskesmas Bontoramba sebanyak 33 orang, dengan teknik total sampling. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan kuesioner dan dianalisis secara bivariat menggunakan uji Chi-Square. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang signifikan antara masa kerja dengan kinerja bidan (p = 0,013), beban kerja dengan kinerja bidan (p = 0,027), serta sikap dengan kinerja bidan (p = 0,013). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa masa kerja, beban kerja, dan sikap berpengaruh terhadap kinerja bidan dalam memberikan pelayanan kebidanan. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan upaya manajemen sumber daya manusia yang optimal untuk meningkatkan kinerja bidan melalui pengelolaan beban kerja, pembinaan sikap profesional, dan pemanfaatan pengalaman kerja

    Remaja merupakan kelompok konsumen kosmetik yang besar namun rentan terhadap paparan produk ilegal dan informasi yang tidak tervalidasi di media sosial. Kurangnya literasi mengenai keamanan produk dapat berdampak buruk bagi kesehatan kulit. Kegiatan Program Pemberdayaan Umat (PRODAMAT) ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan literasi keamanan produk kecantikan pada siswa SMK Kesehatan Bantul melalui edukasi DAGUSIBU (Dapatkan, Gunakan, Simpan, dan Buang) Kosmetik. Metode yang digunakan adalah edukasi partisipatif dengan desain evaluasi pre-test dan post-test melalui tahapan persiapan, pre-test, intervensi edukasi, dan post-test. Intervensi mencakup pemaparan materi dan diskusi interaktif tentang DAGUSIBU Kosmetik. Hasil evaluasi terhadap 18 peserta menunjukkan peningkatan skor rata-rata pengetahuan secara signifikan dari 65,00±12,95 menjadi 95,56±7,05. Analisis uji Wilcoxon Signed Ranks menghasilkan nilai p = 0,000 (p 0,05), didukung dengan nilai rata-rata N-gain sebesar 0,909 yang termasuk dalam kategori efektivitas tinggi. Simpulan dari kegiatan ini adalah edukasi DAGUSIBU Kosmetik efektif dalam meningkatkan domain kognitif siswa sebagai fondasi perilaku penggunaan kosmetik yang aman dan rasional. Program ini diharapkan dapat membangun kesadaran kritis remaja dalam menghadapi tren di era digital

    Teaching Experience, Efficacy, and Performance among Kindergarten Teachers in Manicahan District: A Correlational Study

    Understanding how teaching experience and teacher efficacy relate to classroom performance is essential for strengthening early childhood education. This study examined the relationships among teaching experience, teacher efficacy, and teaching performance of kindergarten teachers in Manicahan District to determine whether professional experience and confidence translate into improved instructional performance. In this study, teaching experience is operationally defined as the teachers’ length of service in years in kindergarten teaching; however, when measured using a Likert-scale instrument, it refers to self-reported teaching practice engagement, which is interpreted as perceived teaching practice rather than actual years of service to avoid misleading conclusions. Teacher efficacy refers to teachers’ beliefs in their capability to perform instructional tasks effectively, while teaching performance refers to their actual performance ratings based on official evaluation records. Guided by the assumption that greater experience enhances efficacy and performance, the study employed a descriptive–correlational research design. Data were collected from 35 kindergarten teachers during the 2024–2025 academic year using a validated survey questionnaire and official performance records. Statistical analyses included descriptive statistics, Pearson product–moment correlation, and analysis of variance. Results indicated that teachers demonstrated high levels of teaching experience and teacher efficacy and were rated very satisfactory in performance. ** Teaching experience showed a significant positive relationship with teacher efficacy (r = .439, p = .009, 95% CI [, ], moderate effect) but was not significantly related to teaching performance (r = –.096, p = .584, small effect). Teacher efficacy also did not significantly correlate with teaching performance (r = .057, p = .751, small effect). These findings indicate that while experience is associated with higher efficacy, neither experience nor efficacy alone directly translates into improved teaching performance, suggesting the need for further investigation of other influencing factors. The study highlights the importance of strengthening professional development systems, instructional support, and school-based mentoring to enhance early childhood teaching effectiveness

    Food security is one of the key strategic issues in sustainable development, particularly at the local community level, which is vulnerable to food crises and climate change. To address this challenge, this community service activity was conducted with the aim of improving knowledge and skills among community members, especially local farmer groups in cultivating herbal plants as a strategy for local food resilience and the implementation of a circular economy at Kebun Dakwah Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. The cultivated commodities include ginger, aromatic ginger (kencur), turmeric, temulawak, and lemongrass, all of which have high potential as raw materials for value-added herbal products. The educational program was designed using a participatory approach, involving lectures, hands-on training, and mentoring by a multidisciplinary team of lecturers and students from Universitas Ahmad Dahlan’s KKN (Community Service Program). The training covered land preparation, seed selection, eco-friendly cultivation techniques, and post-harvest product processing education to support the circular economy concept. Evaluation results showed a significant increase in participants’ understanding of the benefits of herbal plants (increasing 29%) and cultivation techniques (increasing 30%). This initiative also supports the optimization of existing post-harvest technologies such as solar dryers, while strengthening the circular economy ecosystem in the area. Abstrak. Ketahanan pangan merupakan salah satu isu strategis dalam pembangunan berkelanjutan, khususnya di tingkat komunitas lokal yang rentan terhadap krisis pangan dan perubahan iklim. Untuk menjawab tantangan ini, kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan dengan tujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat khususnya kelompok petani komunitas dalam membudidayakan tanaman herbal sebagai bagian dari strategi ketahanan pangan lokal dan implementasi ekonomi sirkular di Kebun Dakwah Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. Komoditas yang dibudidayakan meliputi jahe, kencur, kunyit, temulawak, dan sereh wangi yang memiliki potensi tinggi sebagai bahan baku produk olahan herbal bernilai tambah. Program edukasi dirancang melalui pendekatan partisipatif dengan metode penyuluhan, pelatihan praktik langsung, dan pendampingan oleh tim dosen lintas disiplin dan mahasiswa Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) Universitas Ahmad Dahlan. Edukasi dilakukan mulai dari penyiapan lahan, pemilihan bibit, teknik budidaya ramah lingkungan, hingga edukasi pengolahan produk pascapanen sebagai implementasi konsep ekonomi sirkular. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman peserta terhadap manfaat tanaman herbal sebanyak 29% dan teknik budidayanya sebesar 30%. Kegiatan ini juga mendukung optimalisasi teknologi fasilitas pascapanen yang telah ada di lokasi pengabdian seperti rumah pengering, sekaligus memperkuat ekosistem ekonomi sirkular di kawasan tersebut

    Openness Without Safety? Negotiated Visibility, Stigma, and Well-Being Among Female Sex Workers Living in Local Communities

    Female sex workers (FSWs) often manage a concealable, stigmatized identity, yet some are known within their neighborhoods. Using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA), this study examined how five Indonesian FSWs (35–45 years) living in Central Java made sense of “living openly” and mental health as emotional, psychological, and social well-being. “Living openly” was defined as negotiated openness: at least some community members (e.g., neighbors, informal leaders, and/or family) knew participants’ work status, while operational details were deliberately withheld. Participants were recruited via snowball sampling and completed in-depth interviews in Indonesian; excerpts were translated into English for reporting. Idiographic accounts converged in four cross-case themes: (1) boundary work that eased the burden of secrecy without requiring total disclosure; (2) emotional relief coexisting with vigilance as stigma resurfaced through gossip, moral judgment, harassment, and safety concerns; (3) psychological well-being sustained by time–space separation between work and home, privacy management, selective trust, and meaning anchored in caregiving roles; and (4) social well-being built through routine participation and visible contribution to community activities under conditional acceptance. The findings position openness as a continuing social practice through which well-being is reconstructed amid persistent stigma and structural vulnerability.     Empowering Community for Liquid Compost Production from Household Waste at the “Restu Ibu” Waste Bank in Yogyakarta, Indonesia

    Community-based waste banks play a crucial role in promoting sustainable waste management and local economic empowerment. The “Restu Ibu” waste bank in Sambilegi, Sleman Regency, faces challenges related to limited product innovation, human resource capacity, and economic aspects, particularly product pricing and commercialization. This community engagement program aimed to enhance the technical skills and pricing determination capabilities of female waste bank members through applied chemical innovation and economic capacity building. The program employed offline counseling and hands-on training focused on producing liquid compost fertilizer from household organic waste using simple batch reactors made from locally available materials. Program effectiveness was evaluated through post-test assessments, participant interaction, interviews, and reviews of financial records. The results showed a 100% increase in participants’ knowledge of liquid compost production and reactor concepts, with comprehension levels improving from low (scores 1–2) to high (scores 3–4) among 88% of participants. Active engagement during training further indicated effective knowledge transfer. Overall, the program strengthened individual and institutional capacity, supported sustainable organic waste valorization, and enhanced the potential of the waste bank to contribute to local economic development and tourism-oriented community initiatives

    Hypertension is one of the Non-Communicable Cardiovascular Diseases (NCDs) most commonly experienced by the public, besides Diabetes Mellitus. In hypertensive patients, the blood pressure within the vessels increases, thereby requiring the heart to pump blood harder. Although pharmacological therapy has been provided by the Primary Health Center (Puskesmas), many hypertensive patients still have uncontrolled blood pressure. This is due to inconsistency in monitoring their health and poor dietary maintenance. Consequently, hypertensive patients' self-management has not been optimally implemented. This suboptimal implementation of self-management is closely related to the low knowledge of patients regarding self-management. The objective of this community service activity was to improve the self-management of patients in Batu Kumbung Village, within the working area of Lingsar Primary Health Center, West Lombok Regency. This activity involved 10 hypertensive patients through counseling on self-management using a booklet, education on applying self-management in daily activities with a notebook, and routine blood pressure checks. The evaluation results showed that all respondents experienced an increase in their self-management scores after the intervention, reaching scores in the range of 147 to 157, all of which were categorized as "Good". Specifically, the knowledge scores of all respondents reached a minimum of 70 ("Moderate") up to 100 ("Good"), with the majority achieving a score of 100. The blood pressure (BP) in all respondents tended to decrease, although the range of this reduction was not specified whether it had reached the normal limits or not. This reduction in BP indicates the positive effect of the intervention in helping to control blood pressure. Abstrak. Hipertensi merupakan salah satu Penyakit Tidak Menular (PTM) yang menyerang system kardiovaskular yang paling banyak dialami oleh masyarakat selain Diabetes mellitus. Pada pasien hipertensi, tekanan darah di dalam pembuluh darah meningkat sehingga diperlukan pompa jantung yang lebih keras. Pemberian terapi secara farmakologi sudah diberikan oleh puskesmas namun masih banyak pasien hipertensi yang tekanan darahnya tidak terkontrol karena tidak rutin dalam mengontrol kesehatannya dan makanan yang tidak dijaga sehingga dengan demikian manajemen diri pasien hipertensi yang masih belum dilaksanakan dengan optimal. Pelaksanaan manajemen diri terkait dengan pengetahuan pasien hipertensi tentang manajemen diri yang masih rendah. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengadian masyarakat ini adalah untuk meningkatkan manajemen pasien hipertensi di Desa Batu Kumbung wilayah kerja Puskesmas Lingsar Kabupaten Lombok Barat. Kegiatan pengabmas ini dilaksanakan pada pasien hipertensi berjumlah 10 orang melalui penyuluhan tentang manajemen diri dengan menggunakan buklet, edukasi pengaplikasian manajemen diri dalam kegiatan harian dengan buku catatan, dan pemeriksaan tekanan darah secara rutin dalam kegiatan pengabmas. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan semua responden mengalami peningkatan skor manajemen diri setelah intervensi mencapai skor di rentang 147 - 157, yang seluruhnya dikategorikan sebagai “Baik”, semua responden mencapai skor minimal 70 (Sedang) hingga 100 (Baik), dengan mayoritas mencapai skor 100, tekanan darah pada semua responden cenderung menurun meskipun masih dalam rentang yang Not specified apakah sudah normal atau tidak.     Cerdas Digital: Peluang Bisnis di Media Sosial untuk Generasi Z

    Abstract. Social media has evolved into one of the most effective platforms for communication, marketing, and business transactions. Generation Z, as digital natives, holds significant potential in leveraging social media as a business platform. However, various challenges remain, ranging from low levels of digital literacy to limited understanding of social media algorithms. This community engagement program was conducted at SMP Insan Cendekia Mandiri Boarding School, Sidoarjo, with the aim of enhancing students’ understanding of digital entrepreneurship, introducing the use of artificial intelligence (AI) for promotion, and training them in creating marketable digital content. The implementation method consisted of four stages: initiation, preparation, execution in the form of socialization and training, and evaluation through pre-tests and post-tests. The results indicated an improvement in students’ comprehension of digital entrepreneurship concepts, their ability to utilize social media productively, and their creativity in content creation. The average pre-test score of 95.14 increased to 96.00 in the post-test, reflecting strengthened conceptual understanding and practical skills. This article underscores the importance of educational strategies and the sustainability of training programs to ensure that young generations can optimize social media as a business tool. Abstrak. Media sosial telah berkembang menjadi salah satu sarana paling efektif untuk komunikasi, pemasaran, sekaligus transaksi bisnis. Generasi Z sebagai generasi digital native memiliki potensi besar dalam memanfaatkan media sosial sebagai platform bisnis. Namun, berbagai tantangan masih dihadapi, mulai dari rendahnya literasi digital hingga pemahaman yang terbatas terkait algoritma media sosial. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di SMP Insan Cendekia Mandiri Boarding School Sidoarjo dengan tujuan meningkatkan pemahaman siswa tentang digital entrepreneurship, memperkenalkan pemanfaatan kecerdasan buatan (AI) untuk promosi, serta melatih keterampilan pembuatan konten digital bernilai jual.
