    Get PDF
5G will enable new future Internet of Services (IoSs) paradigms such as\ud Anything as a Service (AaaS), where devices, terminals, machines, also smart\ud things and robots will become innovative tools that will produce and will use\ud applications, services and data. However, 5G will have to support huge mobile\ud traffic volumes, and will also have to deal with the rapid increase of new and\ud complex applications and services. On the other hand, Fog Computing, which\ud extends Cloud Computing to the edge of the network, with its service\ud orchestration mechanisms offers virtually unlimited dynamic resources for\ud computation, storage and service provision, that will overcome the constraints of\ud smart mobile devices. 5G in the fog computing environment will create\ud opportunities for companies to deploy many new real-time services that cannot be\ud delivered over current mobile and wireless networks. This paper evaluates Fog\ud Computing as a support mechanism for 5G Network in terms of latency,\ud throughput, and energy efficiency

Artificial Bee Colony Optimization Technique for Effective Resource Allocation

    Get PDF
Accelerating the development and deployment of advanced communication technologies and complex databases will require a comprehensive strategy integrating efforts from invention to deployment. The concurrent high-performance computing systems are composed of hundreds of thousands of computational nodes, as well as deep memory hierarchies and complex interconnect topologies. Existing high performance algorithms and tools already require courageous programming and optimization efforts to achieve high efficiency on current supercomputers. On the other hand, these efforts are platform-specific and non-portable. Since most of the existing optimization algorithms and tools are not optimized for modern computer architectures and cannot efficiently exploit massively parallel systems, one aim of this research is to identify and to analyze the general problems and modern trends in this research area. This paper investigates the efficiency of artificial bee colony optimization algorithm for effective resource allocation. Parallel version of the algorithm have been proposed based on the flat parallel programming model with message passing for communication between the computational nodes in the platform and parallel programming model with multithreading for communication between the cores inside the computational node. Parallel communications profiling is made and parallel performance parameters are evaluated on the basis of experimental results

    Get PDF
Technologies have become important part of our lives. Their inclusion in education is inevitable. The steps for introducing ICTs in education vary from country to country. Macedonia has invested with a lot of hardware and software in education. Teachers have received numerous training, some for use of ICTs. This research was aiming to determine the situation of usage of educational materials and to define recommendation for future improvements. Teachers from urban schools were interviewed with the questionnaire. Data from multiple choice questions have given quantitative results, and several open-ended questions have given qualitative information. The findings are several: only part of the interviewed teachers had experience with databases of educational materials; all teachers still\ud need capacity building activities focusing exactly on the use and benefits from databases of educational materials; technical support and upgrading of software and materials should be performed on a regular basis. Training materials for professional development of teachers on preparation and usage of databases of educational materials in Macedonian language should be developed and implemented. Subsequently, teachers will be able to design, develop, use and update educational materials in Macedonian language. Thus, application of ICT in education will have bigger positive impact
