Beyond Discovery Learning: The Impact of the Mordiscvein Model on Students’ Critical Thinking Skills in Biology
Critical thinking skills are essential competencies for students in the 21st century; however, conventional instructional models such as discovery learning often fail to optimally foster students’ engagement in higher-order thinking processes. This study examined the effect of the Mordiscvein learning model on senior high school students\u27 critical thinking skills in biology compared with the discovery learning model. A quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group was employed involving 72 tenth-grade students (36 experimental, 36 control) at a public senior high school in Bandar Lampung, Indonesia. The intervention was conducted over four weeks (eight 90-minute sessions). Data were collected using a 10-item essay-based critical thinking test covering analysis, inference, and evaluation indicators, with acceptable reliability (Cronbach\u27s α = 0.82). The results indicated that students taught using the Mordiscvein model achieved significantly higher posttest scores than those in the discovery learning group. Improvements were observed across all critical thinking indicators, suggesting that structured inquiry stages problem orientation, collaborative inquiry, guided experimentation, data interpretation, and reflective discussion—contribute to deeper cognitive engagement. These findings indicate that integrating systematic scaffolding into constructivist learning environments can more effectively support the development of critical thinking in biology education.Critical thinking skills are essential competencies for students in the 21st century; however, conventional instructional models such as discovery learning often fail to optimally foster students’ engagement in higher-order thinking processes. Pembelajaran STEM Terintegrasi Kearifan Lokal Margoyoso: Studi Implementasi Proyek Alat Pembuat Briket Terhadap Literasi Sains dan Sikap Ilmiah Siswa
Abstract
Science learning in schools still faces challenges in meaningfully improving students’ scientific
literacy and scientific attitudes. One potential approach to address this issue is STEM learning
integrated with local wisdom. This study aims to examine the effect of STEM learning integrated with
Margoyoso local wisdom through solar dryer and briquette projects on students’ scientific literacy and
scientific attitudes. This research employed a quasi-experimental method with a pretest–posttest
control group design. The participants were 60 ninth-grade students of SMPN 2 Margoyoso, divided
into an experimental group and a control group. Data were collected using scientific literacy tests and
scientific attitude questionnaires and analyzed using the Wilcoxon test and Mann–Whitney test with
SPSS. The results indicate a significant improvement in scientific literacy and scientific attitudes
among students in the experimental group compared to the control group. Project-based STEM
learning integrated with local wisdom enhances conceptual understanding and fosters scientific
attitudes through contextual and practical learning experiences. Therefore, STEM learning integrated
with local wisdom is effective as an alternative approach to science learning at the junior high school
level.

Students’ Perceptions of Green Chemistry in a Project-Based Learning (PjBL) Model Integrated with Local Culture
The purpose of this study is to examine how students see studying green chemistry using a culturally integrated project-based learning (PjBL) approach. This study used a qualitative descriptive methodology and was carried out at Don Bosco High School in Jakarta. A saturation sampling strategy was used to choose a sample of 35 tenth-grade science students. Students\u27 written reflections after the PjBL exercises and observations made during the learning process were used to gather data. Data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing were the phases of data analysis. The study\u27s findings show that students\u27 perspectives of studying chemistry have changed from being initially seen as challenging and abstract to being more relevant and significant. While some difficulties with group cooperation were still noted, the majority of students showed active involvement and positive responses throughout the learning process, as evidenced by increased interest, curiosity, and participation in project activities. More than half of the students selected the composting project as their final result, and they were able to connect it to actual environmental problems, especially how organic waste is managed in everyday life and cultural customs. These results show that the use of culturally integrated PjBL promotes collaborative and relevant learning experiences in addition to giving students a more practical understanding of green chemistry principles. As a result, this teaching approach helps students develop more favorable opinions of chemistry and strengthens the link between scientific ideas and practical applications
Well-Log-Based Analysis of Pore Pressure and Minimum Effective Stress (Fracture Gradient) in the Penobscot B-41 Well, Offshore Nova Scotia
This study analyzes pore pressure () and minimum effective stress (fracture gradient) in the Penobscot Offshore Field using well log data from wells Penobscot B-41. The Eaton and Bowers methods were applied to estimate pore pressure and minimum effective stress (fracture gradient), while vertical stress () and minimum horizontal stress () were calculated from density data.
The results indicate the presence of a top overpressure zone beginning at approximately 8,376 ftTVD, marked by a significant deviation from the normal compaction trend. A reversal depth is also identified around 9,000-9,200 ftTVD, indicating a shift in the overpressure mechanism from normal compaction to unloading. Pore pressure values derived from both Eaton and Bowers methods show overall consistency, although Bowers tends to yield more conservative estimates in the deeper sections.
Unloading is particularly evident in the deeper interval of well Penobscot B-41, where elevated values are observed without corresponding low density, suggesting stress release caused by fracturing or fluid migration. Effective stress () calculations reveal high-risk zones for fracturing at depths greater than 9,500 ftTVD, which should be carefully addressed in mud weight design.
Overall, the integration of Eaton and Bowers methods with effective stress evaluation successfully characterizes the geopressured system of the Penobscot Field. These findings provide an essential basis for drilling risk mitigation and casing design optimization.
Innovation for Enhancing Students’ Mathematical Reasoning: A Systematic Literature Review
This research is a systematic literature review that explores current trends and various innovations aimed at enhancing students’ mathematical reasoning abilities. The purpose of this study is to map previous research developments related to mathematical reasoning and to identify gaps that remain in the existing literature. A total of 200 prior studies published in journals and conference proceedings between 2019–2024 were collected via Google Scholar using the Publish or Perish application. The data were analyzed using the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) framework with the assistance of Covidence (https://www.covidence.org/). From the initial 200 studies, 149 were excluded at the title and abstract screening stage because they did not address innovations related to mathematical reasoning, while 15 others were removed due to inappropriate research designs. This left 36 studies that were examined in greater depth to identify emerging trends and forms of innovation used to improve mathematical reasoning. The majority of these studies were conducted in 2020, totaling 11 studies. Most research subjects were Grade VIII junior high school students, appearing in 12 studies. The quasi-experimental method was the most frequently applied research design, used in 23 studies. The most common form of innovation identified was the application of learning models, found in 17 studies. Other innovations included the use of varied approaches and methods, integration of information and communication technology, and the development of instructional media
Perceptions Of Students, Teachers, and Parents Regarding the Implementation of the Numeraku Program in Strengthening the Values of Honesty and Numeracy at Wotgalih 03 Public Elementary School
This study aims to describe the perceptions of students, teachers, and parents regarding the implementation of the Numeraku Program in strengthening the values of honesty and numeracy at SD Negeri Wotgalih 03, Jatinegara District, Tegal Regency. This research adopts a qualitative literature review approach by drawing on books, journal articles, and relevant prior studies. The findings indicate that students generally perceive the Numeraku Program positively, as its contextual numeracy activities support the internalization of honesty in learning. Teachers play a crucial role as facilitators and role models in fostering honest behavior through reflective numeracy practices. Meanwhile, parents report observable positive behavioral changes at home, particularly in students’ responsibility and openness about their learning outcomes. The successful implementation of the Numeraku Program depends on strong collaboration among schools, teachers, and families in cultivating a culture of honesty and meaningful numeracy learning
ANALISIS RISIKO KECELAKAAN KERJA PEMASANGAN PRECAST FASADE PADA PROYEK ASPEN RESIDENCE (Studi Kasus Mahasiswa Fakultas Ekonomi dan Bisnis Universitas Kristen Indonesia)
The Aspen Residence Tower D project is considered to have significant occupational risk due to the high complexity of the building, which consists of 23 floors and 2 basements (25 floors total), while Towers A, B, and C are already occupied. Construction activity near active residents increases the risk of work-related accidents. This research uses the OHSAS 18001:2007 standard for risk analysis, combining preliminary surveys and questionnaires to identify, assess, and prioritize risks. The Bowtie method is used to analyze major risks with moderate to extreme levels. The study found three risks in the "moderate" category (dust pollution, burns, UV exposure), seven in the "high" category (pinched hand, chain block injuries, pinched feet, scratches, electric shocks, eye injuries, gas exposure), and two in the "extreme" category (falling precast, worker falling from height). These extreme risks were analyzed in detail to determine causes, impacts, and controls.

Implementation of Article 15 Income Tax in Domestic Shipping Services of a Mining Contractor Company
Income tax plays a crucial role as the primary source of state revenue in Indonesia. One specific type of income tax is Article 15 Income Tax, which applies to taxpayers operating in certain industries, including domestic shipping services. Due to its special calculation mechanism, this type of tax is relatively less understood by taxpayers. This study aims to examine the mechanism for calculating, withholding, paying, and reporting Article 15 Income Tax at PT. Coal, a mining contractor company that also provides domestic shipping services. The research adopts a qualitative case study approach, with data collected through direct interviews with tax department personnel and an analysis of internal company documents during the fieldwork period from February to May 2025. The results indicate that PT. Coal has implemented its Article 15 income tax obligations systematically and in compliance with prevailing tax regulations. The tax is calculated using a final rate of 1.2 percent of gross turnover derived from domestic shipping services, based on transaction invoices. As a withholding agent, the company consistently issues electronic withholding tax certificates through the Directorate General of Taxes online system. Tax payments are made on time before the statutory deadline using the official e-billing system, and reporting is completed through the submission of a unified periodic tax return. Overall, the findings demonstrate that PT. Coal has achieved a high level of tax compliance in accordance with Minister of Finance Decree Number 416/KMK.04/1996.

PENGARUH LIKUIDITAS, LEVERAGE DAN KEPEMILIKAN INSTITUSIONAL TERHADAP KUALITAS LABA DENGAN KUALITAS AUDIT SEBAGAI PEMODERASI (Studi Empiris pada Perusahaan Transportasi dan Logistik yang Terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia Tahun 2020-2024)
This study is motivated by the importance of earnings quality as a key indicator of corporate financial performance, which is influenced by both internal and external factors. The study aims to examine the effects of liquidity, leverage, and institutional ownership on earnings quality, as well as to test the moderating role of audit quality. This quantitative study employs an associative approach using multiple linear regression and moderation analysis on secondary data from manufacturing firms in the consumer goods sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the 2020–2024 period. The results indicate that liquidity and leverage have a significant effect on earnings quality, while institutional ownership has no significant effect. Furthermore, audit quality moderates the relationship between leverage and earnings quality but does not moderate the effects of liquidity or institutional ownership. These findings highlight the importance of financial structure management and audit quality in enhancing the reliability of reported earnings.
