Coronavirus has a clear negative impact on academic and research activities. Issues created by such pandemic e.g. loss of communication; shut down of school, college and universities; disruption of the formal learning process etc provoke us for the transformation of the learning process from conventional to digital. The primary requirement of this transformation is the availability of a sophisticated, affordable and multitasking tool for providing library services. It is now challenging for the libraries to satisfy their user needs and time to rethink and remodel their services by adopting technological changes. Today mobile phones are becoming an integral part of everyday life and are changing the way one connects and interacts with the world. This paper presents an outline of the concept and the application of developments in mobile telecommunication systems, web technologies to provide ubiquitous, user-friendly, personalized and dynamic up to date information services to the users of a library. Also, further studies are expanded to provide insight into the benefits and challenges against the implementation of mobile technologies to support this ‘new normal’ in the libraries. The practical and theoretical implications of the results have been explored

An Outcry against Systemic Sexism in Indian Families: A Feminist Analysis of Neeraj Ghaywan’s Hindi Shortfilm Juice (2017)

    Get PDF
In the millennial era, short films have emerged as an easily accessible and influential medium of representation. They present socially significant themes and hold a mirror to society. This paper attempts a feminist analysis of Neeraj Ghaywan’s Hindi short film Juice (2017), which resists the gendered geography of a house and presents a protagonist who challenges the normative. Patriarchy is the result of societal constructions that are passed down generations. In India, these constructions are most pronounced in societies with traditional cultures and less economic background. However, gender messages conveyed by family, mass media and other patriarchal institutions largely advocate a dominant status for males. The film has as its theme the gender difference in a middle-class background. Juice provides us an understanding of women’s oppression and how the nature of the family has essentially never changed historically by emphasizing the family as the site of women's oppression. The continuation of patriarchal society and a patriarchal family set up is seen even in the twenty-first century acting as a big block to women’s liberation

Study on the algal flora as indicator of organic pollution in Darna River, Nasik (M.S.)

    Get PDF
The algal flora i.e. algal bio indicators can be used for assessing the status, magnitude of the deterioration of the fresh water bodies; Moreover, aquatic algae can act as good indicators of water quality i.e. certain algal forms grow in a specific type of polluted water. These provide information of kind of organic pollution for that particular fresh water ecosystem. In the present research paper, PalmerÂ’ s algal genus and species pollution index (1969) was used to determine the tolerance of algal species towards an organic pollution in the Darna River. Thus the algal genera that are most tolerant to organic pollution can be identified. The Palmers algal index is simply calculated by summing up the scores of all relevant algal taxa present within the collected water samples from the Darna River
