Konverze k islámu a formování identity českých muslimek
The present study aims to bring the reader closer to the process of religious conversion to Islam, following the example of several Czech women who have decided to embrace Islam as their faith. Based on long-term field research and obtaining qualitative data through participatory observation, individual and group interviews, the study presents how Muslim practices are integrated into the daily life of Czech converts and how their new identity is constructed. Ali Köse’s study Conversion to Islam: A Study of Native British Converts (1999) is used in explaining the data obtained. First, the author deals with a case study of the convert Monika, whose example shows the importance of the social context of conversion. The following chapters deal with the gradual process of accepting a new faith and the way in which the identity of Czech Muslim women is shaped by new practices and influenced by the presence of other Muslims and Czech society. The study concludes with the issue of Christmas and the approach of Czech converts to their celebration
Obraz moslimskej ženy v slovenských audiovizuálnych médiách
The study presents the results of research carried out as part of my master’s thesis, which I defended in May 2021. The text is divided into three thematic areas: veiling, the position of women in marriage, and polygamy. I map the attitude of individual media towards Muslim women at the beginning of the migration crisis and in the present. I monitor to which extent the media spreads images about stereotypes, misinformation, or valid information among respondents and how the respondents are affected by them. The migration crisis sparked a wave of information that flooded people every day. Muslim women were increasingly portrayed in the media, emphasizing their way of dressing, their attitude towards men, and their position in society. In Slovakia during the election period, some political parties even built their election campaign on this picture. The research results represent a summary of discursive and content analysis of selected media contributions from 2015 to 2020 and field research conducted in the academic year 2020/2021
Princezna se zlatou hvězdou na čele: Ukázka teorií pohádky
According to psychoanalysis and the depth psychology, folktales and dreams can be seen as modalities through which the unconscious manifests itself. Using the folktale ATU 510B The Donkey Skin, some theories of folktales are introduced in this paper. Although the emphasis is placed on the psychoanalytic theory of Géza Róheim, the paper’s approach is multidisciplinary. First, the folktale is presented through the theory of the myth as proposed by the anthropologist C. Lévi-Strauss. Then, the structure of the folktale is considered using the theory of the linguist J. V. Propp. Finally, the theory of the contemporary Israeli psychoanalyst Ravit Raufman is mobilised to capture the meaning of the folktale The Princess with the Golden Star on Her Forehead in relation to the folktale The Maiden in the Chest
„Jste-li Kristovi, jste potomstvo Abrahamovo“: Etnografická studie českého mesiánsko-židovského společenství
The aim of the study is to acquaint the reader briefly with the movement of Messianic Judaism in the world and to introduce its specific Czech form in more depth. Based on almost two years of field research in the Messianic community in Prague, the author describes some selected aspects of the religiosity of this community, such as distinguishing between clean and unclean animals, celebrating Jewish holidays, observing the Sabbath or the community’s specific relationship to the Torah. It also clarifies the presence of non-Jewish believers in Messianic communities, which is typical of communities based in Europe. At the end of the text, the author places the movement, through the prism of Hervieu-Léger, in the context of the institutionalized-deinstitutionalized religiosity scale
