Finite Element Analysis of Propeller Shaft for Automotive and Naval Application

    Get PDF
The Drive shaft is mainly used for power transmission from the engine to the rear differential. Parts are created by using creo software and the assembled model is exported to analysis Parasolid file and various analysis are performed. Structural analysis of drive shaft to with stand a torque of 10000nm at one where other side is fixed. Use of conventional steel for manufacturing of drive shaft has many disadvantages such as low specific stiffness and strength. Conventional drive shaft is made up into two parts to increase its fundamental natural bending frequency. Two-piece drive shaft increases the weight of drive shaft which is not desirable in today’s market. Many methods are available at present for the design optimization of structural systems and these methods based on mathematical programming techniques involving gradient search and direct search. These methods assume that the design variables are continuous. But in practical structural engineering optimization, almost all the design variables are discret

Mechanical Design and Analysis of AGV for Cost Reduction of Material Handling in Automobile Industries

oai:ojs2.mapletreejournals.com:article/1Automated Guided vehicle or AGV is one of material handling equipment that has been used widely in most automotive industry today as it provides more flexibility to the system. The basic concept of the AGV incorporates battery powered and driverless vehicles with programming capabilities for path selection and positioning. They are equipped to navigate a flexible guide path network that can be easily modified and expanded. Years ago when the AGV technology firstimplemented, it was called driverless vehicle and navigated base on embedded wire or reflected light from paint strip mounted on the floor where the route is preprogrammed in the AGV system. Instead of navigating using fixed path, the AGV now able to navigate freely distance it has traveled or using other landmark or equipment as a reference. Through this report, the types of AGV, the basic concept, the classification of the AGV, types of navigation techniques and thesteering mechanism that usually used in common AGV will be reviewed,. The, this report will be focusing on the mechanical design concept of the AGV which combines knowledge on mechanical parts such as the electric motor, gears, wheels, structure of the AGV, control system and so on

Modeling & Analysis of Cylinder Block for V8 Engine

Heat losses are a major limiting factor for the efficiency of internal combustion engines. Furthermore, heat transfer phenomena cause thermally induced mechanical stresses compromising the reliability of engine components. The ability to predict heat transfer in engines plays an important role in engine development. Today, predictions are increasingly being done with numerical simulations at an ever earlier stage of engine development. These methods must be based on the understanding of the principles of heat transfer. In the present work  V type multi cylinder engine assembly is modeled by CATIA V5. This model is imported to ANSYS and done the steady state Thermal and Structural analysis for predicting thermal stress, temperature distribution by comparing with advance carbon material. (FU4270) from existing material (Aluminum).design a better cooling system. Fast transient heat flux between the combustion chamber and the solid wall must be investigated to understand the effects of the non-steady thermal environment. combustion (IC) engines. Locating hot spots in a solid wall can be used as an impetus to Heat transfer is one major important aspect of energy transformation in internal

    Analysis of Alloy Wheel Rim

In this work we are doing the material optimization of two wheeler alloy wheel. This project we are designed the 3D model of the alloy wheel by using creo 1.0 software and the analysis taken by different materials of the alloy wheel and the analysis taken by the ansys software. This project we are analyzed the rotational velocity and force acting on the alloy wheel by the three materials. Presently the alloy wheels are made by the material of aluminum alloy and, this project we are testing the same load under the two materials. The materials are Magnesium alloy, Titanium alloy. Then the model is analyzed for the deflection, max stress induced and strain for all the above materials under same loa

Automobile plays an inevitable role in the present world for transportation of people and goods. Much advancement has done in automobiles to increase various aspects like aesthetics, safety, comfort and engine performance etc., among this, one of the major requirements of modern automobiles is to increase fuel economy. Every design modification that has been made in automobile will need to meet with requirement of increase in fuel economy and engine performance. On considering Indian consumers, their usage and requirements are multipurpose. Their requirement is about having comfortable seating and also having additional space for goods, if the need arise. To comply with above requirement of Indian consumers with improved fuel economy, various concepts are discussed. One among the factor was seat weight. This can be modified by implanting inflatable seats in automobile

In India, Sale of cars is increasing day by day, where people prefer to have a personalized travel rather than using public transportation system. In such a scenario, there exists a competitive growth between various car brands and the sale of these various brands of cars are carried out by Car Showrooms. Hence, it is the necessity of the hour to adopt quality managerial principles to effectively manage a car showroom. The development of optimization techniques has been a boost to the sales and marketing industry. Optimization Techniques can be effectively applied to various activities that are being carried out by Sales Consultants on a day to day basis. Daily activities such as Test Drive Plan, Job Allocation, Target planning can be optimized for betterment. This article throws light on various optimization techniques that could be applied to Car Showroom and procedures to implement them have also been listed

ALUMINIUM HYBRID COMPOSITES APPLICATION IN AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY

    Get PDF
Strict requirements that are put on mechanical constructions from the side of increase of manipulation periods and reduction of their weights, consequently of their prices as well, implicate improvements and applications of new composite materials with matrices of lightweight metals. Composite materials with metal conditions are used for engine connecting rod, cylinders, pistons, piston rings disc and drum brakes, shafts and for further rudiments in automotive and air travel industry. The most essential types of metallic materials is composite materials with a matrices of aluminium alloys due to a set of their positive properties. Enhancement of mechanical, mainly tribological properties of amalgam composites were delivered by the use of definite reinforce materials such as SiC, Al2O3 and graphite in demarcated weight or volumetric part. The modern developed hybrid composites are with a aluminium matrices to be having a mostly maximum resistance to wear, maximum specific stiffness and upper resistance to fatigue. By the increase of quantities of manufactured components made of hybrid composites, decrease of their prices is tempted that even promote enlarge their applications. The applications of aluminium hybrid composites are reflected from the aspect and with the emphasis on automotive industry

The objective of this Paper is to design and build a self-starting vertical axis wind turbine that is capable of producing power in real world situations. The design of the turbine will include exploration of various self-starting options, as well as the construction of both mode land fullscale turbines. The full-scale turbine will be designed such that it can be connected to a generator and a torque transducer to measure the output power, torque and rotational speed of the turbine. The design will also allow for data collection regarding the effects of blade pitch angles. Here compare both experimental and simulation analysis by using CFD and As a result of the engineering analysis carried out for the NACA 0012 and it had been designed in design software Catia and the flow analysis was carried out in CFD by using Fluent and CFX softwar
