Meaning Policy Innovation in The Era of Regional Autonomy

    Get PDF
This study aims to highlight the significance of policy innovation in the era of regional autonomy. Utilizing a literature-based approach, the findings underscore several key conclusions. First, innovation in the implementation of regional autonomy, as mandated by the 1945 Constitution, is constitutionally and legally oriented toward accelerating the achievement of community welfare. Innovations in improving public services and empowering community participation can enhance regional competitiveness while upholding the principles of democracy, equity, privilege, uniqueness, and the diversity of regional potentials within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. Second, innovation plays a crucial role in accelerating regional development and fostering local independence, including in newly established autonomous regions. By embracing innovation, local governments can creatively explore and manage regional potentials to maximize their use for both local development and business growth. Third, innovation reduces reliance on central government transfers. Financial transfers from the central government should not serve as the primary source of funding for local governments, as innovation enables regions to become more financially self-reliant

The study “Implementation of Inclusive Education Among Secondary Schools in Lingayen, Pangasinan, Philippines” examined how inclusive education is applied in public secondary schools and identified challenges faced by learners with disabilities. Despite existing national policies like the Inclusive Education Act and DepEd Orders, a gap remains between policy and classroom implementation. The research involved 33 junior high school teachers, selected through convenience sampling, and utilized a structured survey questionnaire with statistical tools such as frequency, percentage, average weighted mean, and Pearson Chi-square test. It assessed the level of inclusive education implementation in terms of academic progress, social and psychological support, and school physical facilities while also analyzing the extent of challenges teachers face. Findings revealed that while social and psychological support had the highest implementation, academic progress, and physical facilities were only moderately addressed, highlighting persistent difficulties. Key issues included the lack of trained SPED personnel, inconsistent school policies, large class sizes, insufficient training, and minimal parental involvement. Despite these difficulties, results showed no significant relationship between teachers\u27 demographic profiles and the implementation level, indicating shared experiences across educators. The study emphasized the need for regular teacher training, improved resources, and stronger collaboration among school administrators, parents, and policymakers to enhance inclusive education. An intervention plan focusing on continuous teacher training, resource development, and stakeholder collaboration was recommended to bridge gaps and improve learning opportunities for differently-abled students

    Get PDF
The research was conducted to investigate the influence of emotional intelligence and supervision of Madrasah heads on teaching competence and its implications for the performance of private Madrasah Aliyah teachers. The research location is in Tangerang district, Banten Province. Quantitative research methods with a descriptive approach were used for research purposes. The sample used was 215 respondents. The results reveal that the higher a person\u27s emotional intelligence affects the teaching competence and performance of Madrasah teachers. Likewise, the higher the supervision of the madrasa head, the higher the teaching competence and performance of madrasa teachers. Supervision of madrasah principals is the principal\u27s effort to develop teachers so that they can improve the quality of their teaching by going through the stages of planning, implementing actual teaching, and making rational modifications to improve student learning outcomes. Teaching competency is also able to support the performance of madrasa teachers in implementing learning activities so that the performance of Tangerang Regency madrasa teachers increases. However, the supervision of madrasah principals cannot mediate the relationship between emotional intelligence and madrasah teacher performance. This is because emotional intelligence is something that a teacher must have to improve his performance, with or without teaching competency.  Meanwhile, teaching competency can mediate the relationship between the supervision of madrasa heads and the performance of madrasa teachers in the Tangerang Regency. This is because, through evaluation and supervision, the principal will encourage teachers to improve their teaching competence in designing and implementing learning evaluations with indications of sub-summative evaluation, summative evaluation, and formative evaluation

Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) implementation in higher education institutions (HEIs) is essential in ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment for students, faculty, and staff. This study examines the extent of OSH implementation in private HEIs in San Carlos City, Philippines, based on the perceptions of employees, students, safety officers, and administrators. Using a descriptive research design, the study evaluates key OSH components, including workplace safety measures, program compliance, availability of support facilities, and assessment of the work environment. Findings suggest that OSH implementation is moderately effective, with administrators rating compliance and assessment measures higher than students and employees. Challenges such as funding limitations, outdated infrastructure, inconsistent enforcement of safety protocols, and a lack of comprehensive safety training were identified as barriers to effective OSH governance. The study highlights the need for strengthened institutional policies, increased investment in safety resources, and enhanced stakeholder engagement to foster a culture of safety. Addressing these concerns through a more structured and proactive approach to OSH management will ensure the long-term sustainability of safety initiatives in private HEIs

    Get PDF
This study investigates workplace burnout among employees of Pangasinan State University, emphasizing its prevalence, demographic correlations, and dimensions such as physical, emotional, psychological, social, spiritual, financial, and work environment factors. The aim is to provide a comprehensive understanding of burnout dynamics and recommend targeted interventions to enhance employee well-being and institutional effectiveness. Utilizing a descriptive correlational research design. The study focuses on a diverse sample of teaching and non-teaching staff, employing the Workplace Burnout Questionnaire with specific measures on various dimensions, including Physical, Emotional, Psychological, Social, Spiritual, Financial, and Work Environment Scales. Data were collected through a Google Form, and Spearman\u27s rho, a non-parametric test, was used for analysis due to unequal sample distribution. Findings reveal a moderate positive correlation between age and the General Scale, suggesting that older employees experience higher levels of overall workplace burnout. However, no significant correlations were observed between age and specific scales, emphasizing the nuanced relationship between age and distinct burnout dimensions. A weak negative correlation emerged between age and the Psychological Scale, indicating that younger employees may face higher psychological burnout. In terms of demographic variables, civil status demonstrated positive associations with the General and Financial Scales, suggesting higher civil status correlates with increased overall burnout and decreased financial burnout. Educational attainment and employment status exhibited positive correlations with the Social Scale, indicating higher education and specific employment statuses are linked to increased social burnout. These findings underscore the need for targeted interventions considering demographic variations. The study recommends implementing evidence-based programs, fostering work-life balance, and establishing psychological support services. Future research should delve into qualitative aspects, explore intricate relationships between demographics and burnout, and conduct longitudinal studies to assess the effectiveness of interventions over time. This research contributes to a comprehensive understanding of workplace burnout and informs strategies to enhance employee well-being within the university context
