    The Role of Autonomy on Development Tourism Objects in Sidoarjo Regency

    The purpose of this study is to describe the Government's efforts in the development of tourism objects as well as the factors supporting and inhibiting the development of tourism in Sidoarjo. This research is a qualitative descriptive research. The data collection techniquewas used in deep interview. Informant determination was obtained by purposive sampling technique. In order to obtain data that really in accordance with the reality and validity tested, then used triangulation data, while the data analysis techniques using interactive analysis. The result of the research shows that the effort done by Sidoarjo regency government is starting from inventory all tourism object, dividethe area of tourism development (WPP), make tourism service facility, promote and buildthe tourism facilities, improve the access to tourism object, increase the human resources (HR). The inhibiting factors in the development are the lack of infrastructure, the low human resources of tourism, the low investment and stakeholder support, the spread of tourism object, the short time to stay in the tourism area. But there are supporting factors, namely: each tourism attraction has a unique, strategic location. Therefore, there needs to be more intense and targeted coordination, increasing the involvement of private sector and society in developing tourism object.     Community Participation in Developing City Branding Semarang City, Jawa Tengah, Indonesia

    The bidding of public participation by BAPPEDA of Semarang city in the development of city brand of Semarang city namely “Variety of Culture” is the objective of this study. Given the fact that people knowledge and understanding on the city branding itself is still apprehensive. The purpose of this research is to define the form of participation and the level of community participation in the development City Branding of Semarang city and its supporting and inhibiting factors. This research utilizes qualitative approach method. To acquire the appropriate and suitable informants, researcher used purposive sampling technique. Informants of this research are BAPPEDA, Department of Culture and Tourism, academics, mass media, tour guide and community. Validity of data is measured by triangulation of source and data acquisition is done by interview, documentation and observation technique. Data analysis carried by data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. From the study’s outcomes, it can be seen that the form of community participation in the city branding development of Semarang city categorized into pseudo-participation. While the level of community participation categorized tokenism level. The interesting finding is that there has been no evaluation on the city branding development in Semarang. The inhibiting factors were the low level of community participation caused by factors of sex, education, knowledge and occupation. The supporting factors are the related stakeholders and mass media. Recommendation: the requisite to evaluate the development of city branding in order to maximize the goals to be achieved

    Community Based Tourism Development as A Strategy of Community Empowering and Tourism Marketing in Wonosalam District, Jombang

    Development of tourism potency that has a high selling value when managed and promoted appropriately could turn into a prominent tourism. The aim of this research is to identify potential and tourism characteristic, to formulate the marketing model of existing tourist destinations in Wonosalam district, Jombang regency, and to analyze community readiness as well as the programs that have been done by Government of Jombang regency in evolving Community Based Tourism. By qualitative approach, data acquisition of this research is done by interview to several informants. The findings of this research are community empowerment conducted in the management and promotion of tourism destinations, in addition to demanding specific and sustainable strategies. Community Based Tourism development strategy is described in the management aspect of tourism destination, socioeconomic, and cultural which is done through the assessment and readiness of perception, public participation and public's desire to the development of tourism destinations in their area respectively, and the required tourism marketing strategy condition of the tourism destination.
