Timothy McDowell Artist Assistant
This reflection summarizes my summer 2025 internship with artist Timothy McDowell, where I worked as an art registrar intern documenting, conserving, and packaging a collection of over 200 works ranging from oil paintings to beeswax and cyanotypes. My responsibilities included photographing and cataloging each piece, creating a digital database, and applying conservation techniques to ensure preservation. Alongside these technical skills, I strengthened my organizational and collaborative abilities through discussions with Tim about handling methods, professional practice, and the role of mentorship in the arts. The experience fully met my learning objectives by providing concrete registrar skills, broadening my understanding of art handling and preservation, and clarifying my commitment to pursuing art as a lifelong path, while inspiring new goals such as exploring MFA programs and residencie
NSF Physics REU Internship at CU Boulder in Optics & Photonics Group
This summer, I was selected for the NSF Physics REU Internship at the University of Colorado Boulder. I worked in the Electrical Engineering department within the Optics & Photonics group. My work involved an ytterbium fiber laser, which required knowledge in electromagnetism, nonlinear optics, fiber optics, free space optics, and wave propogation. This work concluded with a renewed and functioning laser, which I presented on to my REU peers and submitted a paper on to the faculty of the NSF Physics REU

Pfizer Futures Internship
This summer, I worked at Pfizer in Groton, CT, as a research and development intern. I worked with the Expert Singleton Purification Group, where I conducted research regarding Supercritical Fluid Chromatography (SFC). I collaborated on projects with various scientists and statisticians, presented my work with colleagues on site, attended intern events for networking, and visited various labs on campus to explore my interests. I had a very positive experience and learned so much over the course of 12 weeks
USITT National Conference Attendance
Last spring, I attended the United States for Theatre Technology (USITT) national conference in Columbus, Ohio. Over the course of my time at the conference, I attended workshops/labs, networked with my peers, met the people behind the products and organizations that make up the technical theatre industry, and interviewed for (and eventually got) a job at a reputable summer stock theatre company. I came out of the conference with a much clearer understanding of what skills I needed to be successful after I graduate and a loose path to explore that would allow me to develop them. It was one of the busiest weeks of my life, and an incredible opportunity to interact with the professional world of the work that I love
