    The Exploring Lecturers' Challenges in Implementing Flipped Learning in the Classroom

    This qualitative study explores the challenges faced by lecturers in implementing flipped learning in classroom settings. Through in-depth interviews and observations, the research identifies key barriers such as student preparedness, technological issues, and resistance to new pedagogical approaches. The findings reveal that while some students engage actively when they come prepared, many others struggle to see the value in pre-class materials, which affects overall class dynamics. Furthermore, the study highlights the importance of collaboration among educators, as working with experienced colleagues can provide invaluable resources and strategies to mitigate these challenges. The insights gained from this research contribute to a deeper understanding of the complexities involved in adopting flipped learning and offer practical recommendations for enhancing student engagement and improving teaching practices in higher education

    Self-Concept in Music Video “Child” By Mark Lee: A Semiotic Analysis

    The aims of this study were to describe the self concept and sign meaning in Mark Lee’s music video “Child.” The data sources obtained by the writer came from visual clips and textual data in the “Child” music video. The method applied in this study used a descriptive qualitative approach to describe and analyse the data. The results show the signs present the self-concept; each has different perspective of self concept. The researchers revealed the types pf self consept consisting of 12 self-esteem, 13 self-image, and 5 ideal selves. It can be concluded that the music video displays distinctive meaning and self-concept in both the visual and textual. Moreover,  music video “Child” had 30 pieces of data that demonstrated the meaning of denotation, connotation, and myth. The entire semiotic meaning of the music video “Child” was about life during adolescence and their problems. This is demonstrated by the property, setting, and lighting found in this music video, which emphasises adolescence

    Characterization of the Main Character in the Film "Enola Holmes": Through Erik Erikson's Theory (Social Development Theory)

    This study analyzes the characterization of Enola Holmes, the main character in the 2020 film Enola Holmes, through Erik Erikson's psychosocial development theory. Both literature and film provide valuable insights into personal psychology and societal challenges. Erikson's stages—Identity vs. Role Confusion, Autonomy vs. Shame and Doubt, Initiative vs. Guilt, and Trust vs. Mistrust—are well illustrated in Enola's character development. Using qualitative descriptive methods, this study examines conversations and scenarios that highlight Enola's growth and independence, influenced by her relationship with her mother and the social norms of Victorian England. The analysis demonstrates how Erikson's psychosocial theory, which sheds light on identity development within a patriarchal cultural context, aligns with Enola's journey of self-discovery and resilience. The findings reveal that Enola's journey is marked by a strong sense of independence, exploration of identity, and resistance to societal expectations, underscoring the principles that individuals hold dear. This analysis, grounded in Erik Erikson's theory, provides insights into individual development as it relates to the character of Enola Holmes in the film. &nbsp

    The Implementation of the Collaborative Learning Approach in Teaching Speaking: A Case Study of an Indonesian EFL Classroom

    This study aims to examine the implementation of the collaborative learning approach in teaching speaking in English as a foreign language (EFL) classrooms in Indonesia. Adopting a qualitative case study approach, the research involved two English teachers from a non-formal English course institution. Data were gathered through in-depth interviews and classroom observations to explore how teachers applied the collaborative learning approach and the challenges they encountered.The findings reveal that this approach enhances students' confidence in speaking English, encourages more active participation in discussions, and improves their comprehension of the material. Teachers observed that students working in small groups tend to absorb language structures more effectively and develop greater fluency compared to those engaged in individual learning. However, several challenges arise, including variations in students’ proficiency levels, unequal contributions within groups, and difficulties in managing classroom dynamics. To address these challenges, teachers implement strategies such as assigning specific roles within groups and establishing structured speaking guidelines. Moreover, this approach positively impacts students' emotional engagement by boosting their motivation and fostering a more interactive learning environment. In conclusion, collaborative learning has been proven to effectively enhance students' speaking skills.     The Role of Critical Reading Skill in Enhancing The Academic Competence of Law Students in The Context of International Law

    Law students, especially those specializing in international law, encounter significant challenges regarding their critical reading abilities. Critical reading necessitates active engagement, compelling readers to think critically and employ various skills to identify key concepts, draw conclusions, make connections, anticipate purposes, analyze arguments, consider diverse perspectives, and evaluate ideas effectively. This research investigates the role of critical reading skills in enhancing the academic competence of law students within the context of international law. It employs a qualitative research design, utilizing case studies, interviews, and focus group discussions with fifth-semester students at the Faculty of Law, Muslim University of Indonesia. The findings reveal that critical reading skills significantly improve students' abilities to analyze complex legal texts, such as treaties and court decisions, by enabling them to identify key arguments, underlying biases, and contextual nuances. Structured frameworks, such as the SQ3R method and Legal Case-Based Reading (LCbR), are shown to foster deeper engagement with materials and facilitate the application of legal principles to real-world scenarios. Additionally, the study highlights the importance of exploring diverse perspectives, particularly those of marginalized groups, in enriching students' understanding of social and cultural implications. Ultimately, this research contributes to legal education reform by emphasizing the necessity of integrating critical reading skills into law curricula to better prepare students for the challenges of professional practice

    Examining the Reciprocal Technique in Enhancing Students Reading Comprehension: An Experimental Research

    This study is to assess the efficacy of the reciprocal technique in enhancing the reading abilities of senior high school students in Purbalingga Regency, Central Java. The study employed a quasi-experimental research design, comprising an experimental group instructed by the reciprocal technique and a control group instructed via lecturing methods. Data were gathered using pre-tests and post-tests comprising 50 multiple-choice questions on recount texts. An independent t-test by IBM SPSS Statistics 27 was chosen for data analysis to compare the performance between the experimental and control groups, aligning with the study’s objective of determining the significant effect of the reciprocal technique. The independent t-test analysis revealed a significant difference between the two groups (p = 0.008), demonstrating that the reciprocal strategy was more effective in improving students' reading comprehension. This method, including encompassing prediction, inquiry, clarification, and summarization tactics, promotes active engagement, critical analysis, and cooperation among students. The results indicate that the reciprocal technique can enhance students' reading abilities and foster the creation of more innovative and participatory English teaching strategies

    Psycholinguistics Study on Students with Lisp Disorders in SMPIT Nurul Qolbi Bekasi

    One of the speech disorders in adolescence to adulthood is lisping, which is a speech impairment where there is difficulty in pronouncing the /r/ phoneme. A lisp involves an assimilation of sound changes that are imperfect when pronouncing the /r/ phoneme. This study aims to explore that communication with individuals who have a lisp is quite different compared to communication with individuals without speech disorders. The focus of this research is on adolescent lisp sufferers. The research method used is qualitative descriptive. The data collection techniques used in this study are recording, observation, and note-taking. Afterward, the data will be transcribed. The data sources are the students of SMPIT Nurul Qolbi on the consonants /r/ and /s/. The data consists of utterances from two informants. The results of this study show that Syafa Azzahra obtained 28 data points on the lisp disorder “S” and Ananda Rizky Ramadhan obtained 19 data points on the /r/ phoneme

    The Role Of TikTok In Shaping Gen Z Students' English Vocabulary Proficiency

    This study explores the role of TikTok in shaping English vocabulary skills in Generation Z students at SMK Nusantara Bangorejo. The development of digital technology, especially social media platforms such as TikTok, has created a significant informal learning space for the digital native generation. The research aims to identify patterns of consumption of English-language content, analyze the types of vocabulary acquired, evaluate the effectiveness of TikTok as a learning resource, and develop a conceptual framework for its integration in formal learning. Using a qualitative approach, the data was collected through semi-structured interviews with 20 students and one English teacher, as well as indirect observation of student activity on TikTok. The results of the study showed that 75% of participants experienced an increase in English vocabulary after accessing TikTok regularly, with a preference for song, vlog, and game-based educational materials. The platform facilitates the acquisition of contemporary and informal vocabulary that is rarely encountered in formal curricula through incidental learning. Key challenges include the gap between passive recognition and active production of vocabulary, as well as potential addiction. It is concluded that TikTok has the potential to be an effective pedagogical tool when it is integrated in a structured manner with digital literacy in mind, through a conceptual framework that includes a social media responsive curriculum, authentic content-based pedagogy, informal learning assessments, and digital literacy development

    Bridging the Digital Divide: Indonesian EFL Higher Education Students' Perceptions of Web-Based Collaborative Writing Tools

    This research explores the perceptions of Indonesian English as a Foreign Language (EFL) higher education students towards the use of web-based collaborative writing tools, focusing on Padlet, in argumentative essay writing. Employing a qualitative case study design, the study utilized semi-structured interviews with ten students from an English Education Program in Makassar, Indonesia. The data, analyzed through thematic analysis, revealed that students perceive Padlet as highly useful due to its ability to organize ideas, facilitate collaboration and feedback, enhance accessibility and flexibility, improve writing skills, and offer time efficiency. Additionally, students found Padlet easy to use, citing its intuitive interface, ease of getting started, seamless integration into their workflow, adaptability to various writing stages, provision of control over the writing process, and minimal technical issues. These findings underscore the potential of Padlet in enhancing EFL writing instruction by providing an interactive and visually appealing platform that addresses the specific needs of EFL learners in argumentative essay writing. The study concludes that web-based collaborative tools like Padlet can significantly contribute to developing confident and competent writers in EFL contexts, highlighting the importance of integrating such technologies to bridge the digital divide and transform traditional writing pedagogies

    The Effect of Digital Game-Based Learning to Improve Students Learning Outcomes in PAI Class X SMKN 2 Jember

    This study analyzed the impact of DGBL on the learning outcomes of PAI students in class X SMKN 2 Jember because most of PAI lessons mostly use the lecture method, so learning it needs an interesting innovation to improve student learning outcomes. Using the Quasi-Experiment One-Group Pretest—Post-test Design method with a sample of 35 DKV Class X students, data was collected through pretest and post-test with CP and TP-based instrument. Analysis was conducted using SPSS, including normality, reability, validity, ANOVA, and simple linear regression tests. The results showed a significant increase from the mean score of the pretest (62.8) to the posttest (83.3) and an increase in the percentage of students reaching the KKM from 11% to 91%. DGBL proved to have a significant effect on learning outcomes, with the regression model explaining 93,5% of the observed variation. This study demonstrates that DGBL is effective in improving the motivation and learning outcomes of PAI students, confirming the importance of technology-based learning innovations in religious education. &nbsp
