    Comparison between 1d and 3d cfd numerical simulation of excavator underhood

    Namen zaključnega dela je primerjava med 1D in 3D CFD numerično simulacijo kompleksnega motornega prostora delovnega stroja. Zanima nas, ali je 1D CFD simulacija smiselna in dovolj natančna za nadaljni razvoj hladilnega sistema. CAD model delovnega stroja je bil uvožen v GEM3D ter primerno obdelan za izvoz v 1D model. 1D model je bil izdelan in simuliran v programski opremi GT-SUITE. Končna ugotovitev je, da trenutno GT-SUITE še ne premore obdelovati tako kompleksnih modelov, vendar ima zelo dobro podlago za obdelavo modelov v začetni fazi razvoja modela.The purpose of this thesis is to compare 1D CFD and 3D CFD numerical simulations of a complex excavator underhood. Question was, whether a 1D CFD simulation is meaningful and accurate enough for the further development of the cooling system. The CAD model of the working machine was imported into GEM3D and appropriately processed for export to a 1D model. 1D model was build and simulated with GT-SUITE software. The final conclusion was that, at the moment, GT-SUITE is not capable of handling such complex 1D models, but it provides a very good foundation for processing models in the initial stages of model development

    Short- and long-term effects of computerized cognitive remediation on attention, memory and executive functions in depression and possibility of transfer on functional skills

    Bolniki z depresijo lahko izkazujejo resne kognitivne motnje, ki lahko trajajo dlje časa kljub zdravljenju z zdravili in psihoterapevtski obravnavi. Oslabljeno kognitivno funkcioniranje ni omejeno zgolj na akutno fazo depresije, ampak vztraja tudi v obdobjih remisije ter se poslabšuje s ponavljajočimi se epizodami. Kognitivni primanjkljaji, povezani z depresijo, prav tako napovedujejo raven vsakodnevnega in psihosocialnega funkcioniranja in so pomemben dejavnik pri vzdrževanju začaranega kroga depresivne simptomatike. Kognitivna remediacija predstavlja obetavno metodo za obravnavo kognitivnih primanjkljajev pri depresiji in navadno vključuje trening kognitivnih funkcij in razvoj kognitivnih strategij ter je namenjena izboljšanju kognitivnega funkcioniranja ali kompenzaciji oslabljenih kognitivnih funkcij v vsakdanjem življenju. Cilj doktorske študije je bil oceniti učinkovitost kognitivne remediacije na vzorcu depresivnih udeležencev. Bolniki (N = 50) z depresijo so bili naključno razporejeni v aktivno ali kontrolno skupino. Aktivna intervencija (računalniško podprta kognitivna remediacija) je obsegala 15 sej s programsko opremo CogniPlusprav tako so bili udeleženci eksperimentalne skupine vsak teden deležni verbalne seje, namenjene prenosu kognitivnih veščin v resnične situacije. Vsi udeleženci so pred in po kognitivni remediaciji opravili nevropsihološko testiranje. Glavna področja intervencije so bila pozornost, verbalni in vizualni spomin ter izvršilne funkcijeocenjevali smo tudi učinek daljnega transferja in generalizacije na prilagoditvene sposobnosti. Poleg kratkoročnega učinka kognitivne remediacije nas je zanimal še dolgoročni učinek, ki smo ga preverjali v obdobju treh mesecev po zaključenem programu v obliki samoocene. Naši rezultati kažejo, da je kognitivna remediacija lahko učinkovita metoda za obravnavo kognitivnih motenj pri depresiji, in sicer je eksperimentalna skupina po intervenciji dosegala višje rezultate kot kontrolna skupina na področju verbalnega in vizualnega spomina, pozornosti, delovnega spomina, fluentnosti in izvršilnih funkcij. Opisanega napredka ne moremo pripisati izboljšanju razpoloženja, saj eksperimentalna skupina po intervenciji ni poročala o morebitnem zmanjšanju depresivne simptomatike. Eksperimentalna skupina je po intervenciji poročala o napredku na področju prilagoditvenih funkcij, ki je vztrajal tudi v obdobju trimesečnega spremljanja. Podobno je vztrajal učinek s področja vedenjske regulacije, a je med spremljanjem izginil pozitivni učinek metakognitivnih sposobnosti. Kognitivna remediacija predstavlja eno izmed možnosti izboljšanja kognitivnega in globalnega delovanja pri bolnikih z depresijo. Psihosocialna rehabilitacija depresivnih bolnikov bi morala vključevati tudi intervencije, ciljane na kognicijo, saj le-ta neposredno ali posredno krepi bolnika in ga motivira za boljše delovanjeizboljšanje kognitivnih funkcij pa vodi v splošno višjo zmogljivost bolnika.Patients with depression can exhibit serious cognitive impairments that can persist for a long time despite treatment with medication and psychotherapeutic interventions. Impaired cognitive functioning is not limited to the acute phase of depression but also persists during periods of remission and worsens with recurrent episodes. Cognitive deficits associated with depression also predict the level of everyday and psychosocial functioning and are an important factor in maintaining the vicious cycle of depressive symptoms. Cognitive remediation represents a promising method for addressing cognitive deficits in depression and typically involves cognitive function training and the development of cognitive strategies aimed at improving cognitive functioning or compensating for impaired cognitive functions in everyday life. The doctoral study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of cognitive remediation in a sample of depressed participants. Patients (N = 50) with depression were randomly assigned to an active or control group. The active intervention (computer-assisted cognitive remediation) consisted of 15 sessions using the CogniPlus software, and participants in the experimental group also received weekly verbal sessions aimed at transferring cognitive skills to real-life situations. All participants underwent neuropsychological testing before and after cognitive remediation. The main areas of intervention were attention, verbal and visual memory, and executive functions, and we also assessed the effect of near transfer on related cognitive functions and far transfer on adaptive abilities. In addition to the short-term effect of cognitive remediation, we were interested in its long-term effect, which we evaluated through self-assessment three months after the program ended. Our results indicate that cognitive remediation can be an effective method for addressing cognitive impairments in depression. Specifically, the experimental group achieved higher scores than the control group in verbal and visual memory, attention, working memory, fluency, and executive functions after the intervention. These improvements cannot be attributed to mood enhancement, as the experimental group did not report any reduction in depressive symptoms after the intervention. The experimental group reported progress in adaptive functions after the intervention which persisted during the three-month follow-up period. Similarly, the effect on behavioral regulation persisted but the positive effect on metacognitive abilities disappeared during the follow-up. Cognitive remediation is one of the options for improving cognitive and global functioning in patients with depression. Psychosocial rehabilitation of depressed patients should also include interventions targeting cognition, as it directly or indirectly empowers the patient and motivates them for better functioning

    Advancing sustainable mobility: artificial intelligence approaches for autonomous vehicle trajectories in roundabouts

    This study develops and evaluates advanced predictive models for the trajectory planning of autonomous vehicles (AVs) in roundabouts, with the aim of significantly contributing to sustainable urban mobility. Starting from the “MRoundabout” speed model, several Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) techniques, including Linear Regression (LR), Random Forest (RF), Support Vector Regression (SVR), Gradient Boosting Regression (GBR), and Neural Networks (NNs), were applied to accurately emulate human driving behavior and optimize AV trajectories. The results indicate that neural networks achieved the best predictive performance, with R2 values of up to 0.88 for speed prediction, 0.98 for acceleration, and 0.94 for differential distance, significantly outperforming traditional models. GBR and SVR provided moderate improvements over LR but encountered difficulties predicting acceleration and distance variables. AI-driven tools, such as ChatGPT-4, facilitated data pre-processing, model tuning, and interpretation, reducing computational time and enhancing workflow efficiency. A key contribution of this research lies in demonstrating the potential of AI-based trajectory planning to enhance AV navigation, fostering smoother, safer, and more sustainable mobility. The proposed approaches contribute to reduced energy consumption, lower emissions, and decreased traffic congestion, effectively addressing challenges related to urban sustainability. Future research will incorporate real traffic interactions to further refine the adaptability and robustness of the model

    Processed food intake assortativity in the personal networks of older adults

    Existing research indicates that dietary habits spread through social networks, yet the impact on populations in Eastern Europe, particularly in rural areas, is less understood. We examine the influence of personal networks on the consumption of high-salt processed foods among individuals in rural Romania, with a specific focus on older adults. Using a personal network analysis, we analyze data from 83 participants of varying ages and their social contacts through multi-level regression models. The inclusion of participants across a wider age range allows us to capture the broader dynamics of social networks, reflecting the intergenerational nature of rural communities. Our findings reveal assortativity in dietary habits, indicating that individuals cluster with others who share similar food consumption patterns. Our results underscore the need for public health interventions that account for the influence of social networks on dietary behavior, as addressing high salt intake and its associated health risks may require considering the broader social context beyond older adults. The study contributes to understanding the social determinants of dietary behaviors and highlights the role of personal networks in shaping food choices in vulnerable populations

    Trajnostno upravljanje in vodenje organizacij postaja vedno bolj pomembno za dolgoročno uspešnost organizacij, pri tem pa imajo pomembno vlogo lastniki kot upravljalci in oblikovalci politike podjetja. Magistrsko delo obravnava vlogo lastnikov organizacij kot ambasadorjev trajnostnosti in preučuje sinergije med formalnim visokošolskim izobraževanjem, mikrodokazili, razvojem gospodarstva in podjetji za povečanje trajnostnosti. Predstavljeni so ključni koncepti trajnostnosti, integralnega managementa in vpliva lastnikov kot upravljalcev na organizacijo in njene trajnostne usmeritve. Predstavljeni so zakonodajni okviri, standardi, protokoli in druge komponente poročanja organizaciji o trajnostnosti ter povezava tega s pomenom izobraževanja o trajnostnosti za organizacije. V empiričnem delu sta izvedeni dve študiji primera, prva se nanaša na analizo izbranih izobraževanj o trajnostnosti v poslovanju v Sloveniji, druga pa na preučitev izbranih tujih visokošolskih študijskih programov s področja trajnostnosti. Na podlagi ugotovitev je oblikovan predlog modela kurikuluma za trajnostno izobraževanje lastnikov organizacij z uporabo mikrodokazil v visokem šolstvu. Raziskava je pokazala, da je izobraževanje na področju trajnostnosti v poslovanju pomembno, vendar v Sloveniji še ni sistematično urejeno. Zato se mikrodokazila izkazujejo kot potencialno učinkovito orodje za povezovanje akademskega sveta in gospodarstva, kar bi lahko omogočalo boljši prenos znanja ter večjo izobraženost o trajnostnosti v poslovanju.Sustainable governance and management of organizations are becoming increasingly important for the long-term success of businesses, with owners playing a crucial role as governors and as decision-makers of business policy. This master’s thesis examines the role of business owners as sustainability ambassadors and explores the synergies between formal higher education, micro-credentials, the economy development and business sector in enhancing sustainability. Key concepts of sustainability, integral management, and the influence of owners as governors on organization and its sustainability orientations are presented. The thesis also outlines legislative frameworks, standards, protocols, and other reporting components related to organizations\u27 sustainability, emphasizing the importance of sustainability education for businesses. The empirical section includes two case studies. The first case study analyzes selected education programs on sustainability in business in Slovenia, while the second case study examines selected international higher education programs focused on sustainability. Based on the findings, a proposed curriculum model for sustainability education for business owners is developed, proposing incorporating micro-credentials in higher education. The results indicate that sustainability education in business is essential but remains unsystematically structured in Slovenia. Consequently, micro-credentials emerge as a potentially effective tool for bridging academia and the business sector, enabling better knowledge transfer and greater awareness of sustainability in business practices

    The motivation of adult learners in the workplace is an area of research that focuses on understanding the factors that influence adults\u27 desire to engage in learning activities within an organizational context. We studied various internal and external factors that contribute to the motivation of adult employees to acquire new knowledge, skills, and competencies to accelerate their professional development and career advancement. Understanding the motivations of adult learners at work is crucial for organizations that want to design effective learning programs. With other factors, such as intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, perceived relevance, and goal orientation, organizations can develop strategies that promote and sustain employee motivation. This can ultimately lead to improved engagement, performance, and professional growth among employees.Motivacija odraslih učencev na delovnem mestu je ključno področje raziskav, saj pomaga organizacijam razumeti dejavnike, ki ženejo zaposlene, da se vključijo v učne dejavnosti. Ta študija se osredotoča na analizo notranjih in zunanjih motivatorjev, ki spodbujajo zaposlene v Paul Hartmann Adriatic d.o.o. za sodelovanje v izobraževalnih programih. Ugotovitve prispevajo k širšemu razumevanju zavzetosti zaposlenih, strategij organizacijskega učenja ter usklajevanja osebnega in poklicnega razvoja. Izobraževanje odraslih igra pomembno vlogo pri krepitvi znanja, spretnosti in kompetenc zaposlenih, ki so bistvenega pomena za karierno napredovanje in poklicno rast. S preučevanjem ključnih motivacijskih dejavnikov ta raziskava osvetljuje pomen intrinzične in ekstrinzične motivacije, zaznane pomembnosti učenja in ciljne naravnanosti v izobraževanju na delovnem mestu. Notranja motivacija, ki izhaja iz osebnega zadovoljstva in veselja do učenja, pogosto vodi do večje angažiranosti in dolgoročnega uspeha v učnih programih. Nasprotno pa ima zunanja motivacija, ki jo poganjajo finančne spodbude, napredovanje v karieri in pričakovanja podjetja, ključno vlogo pri spodbujanju sodelovanja. Kritični vidik izobraževanja na delovnem mestu je prepoznavanje ovir, ki ovirajo sodelovanje zaposlenih. Ta študija raziskuje pogoste ovire, kot so pomanjkanje prostega časa, izzivi pri usklajevanju poklicnega in zasebnega življenja, družinske obveznosti in IV nezadostna organizacijska podpora. Razumevanje teh izzivov omogoča organizacijam, da razvijejo ciljno usmerjene strategije za njihovo ublažitev in ustvarijo bolj ugodno učno okolje. Odpravljanje teh ovir s prilagodljivimi urniki usposabljanja, spodbudami in podpornim vodstvom lahko bistveno izboljša stopnjo udeležbe in zadovoljstvo zaposlenih. Poleg tega študija ocenjuje preference zaposlenih glede izobraževalnih formatov.     Magistrsko delo obravnava problematiko upravljanja tveganj in zagotavljanja neprekinjenega poslovanja pri dobavi inovativnih zdravil. Neprekinjena dobava teh zdravil je ključnega pomena, saj neposredno vpliva na življenje in zdravje pacientov. Farmacevtska podjetja se soočajo z različnimi izzivi, kot so globalne pandemije, politični konflikti, makroekonomska nestabilnost in ekstremni vremenski pojavi, kar zahteva robustne sisteme za obvladovanje tveganj. V nalogi je predstavljen proces strateškega upravljanja tveganj v skladu z ISO 31000 in vzpostavitev sistema neprekinjenega poslovanja v skladu z ISO 22301 v enem izmed vodilnih farmacevtskih podjetij. Preučene so ključne razlike in izboljšave, ki so jih prinesli ti sistemi, zlasti v kontekstu pozitivnega vpliva na paciente. Naloga analizira tveganja v oskrbovalni verigi, od dobave osnovnih materialov do končnega uporabnika, ter predstavlja koncept inovativnih zdravil, ki so zaradi svoje narave izpostavljena dodatnim tveganjem. Glavni cilj naloge je pokazati pomen učinkovitega upravljanja tveganj za zagotavljanje neprekinjene dostave zdravil, kar posledično zmanjšuje stroške in etične izzive ter izboljšuje zdravstvene izide pacientov.The master\u27s thesis addresses the issue of risk management and business continuity in the supply chain of innovative pharmaceuticals. The uninterrupted supply of these medicines is crucial as it directly impacts the lives and health of patients. Pharmaceutical companies face various challenges, such as global pandemics, political conflicts, macroeconomic instability, and extreme weather events, necessitating robust risk management systems. The thesis presents the process of strategic risk management in accordance with ISO 31000 and the implementation of a business continuity system in accordance with ISO 22301 in one of the leading pharmaceutical companies. It examines the key differences and improvements brought by these systems, particularly in terms of their positive impact on patients. The thesis analyzes risks within the supply chain, from the procurement of raw materials to the end user, and introduces the concept of innovative medicines, which are exposed to additional risks due to their nature. The main goal of the thesis is to demonstrate the importance of effective risk management in ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of medicines, which in turn reduces costs and ethical challenges while improving patient health outcomes

    Upgrade of the control system and implementation of cybersecurity for the capping device in the Krško Nuclear Power Plant

    V sodelovanju z Nuklearno elektrarno Krško smo izvedli nadgradnjo sistema za zapiranje sodov s srednje in nizko radioaktivnimi odpadki. Posodobljena je bila strojna in programska oprema krmilnika. Razvit je bil grafični vmesnik s simulacijo senzorjev in ventilov ter simulacijsko okolje za testiranje in usposabljanje operaterjev. Vzpostavljena je bila povezava s procesno-informacijskim sistemom preko protokola Modbus. Kibernetska varnost je bila izboljšana z uporabo podatkovne diode in platforme Nozomi Networks za zaznavanje groženj. Z nadgradnjo je bila izboljšana zanesljivost, varnost in učinkovitost procesa. Zmanjšana je bila potreba po ročnih posegih v območju sevanja, sistem pa je postal odpornejši na kibernetske napade.In collaboration with the Krško Nuclear Power Plant, we upgraded the capping device for containers with medium and low level radioactive waste. The hardware and software of the controller were updated. A graphical interface with sensor and valve simulation was developed, along with a simulation environment for testing and operator training. A connection to the process information system was established via the Modbus protocol. Cybersecurity was enhanced using a data diode and the Nozomi Networks platform for threat detection. The upgrade improved the reliability, safety, and efficiency of the process, reduced the need for manual interventions in radiation areas, and made the system more resilient to cyberattacks

    Magistrsko delo raziskuje pomen timskega dela in medpoklicnega sodelovanja v zdravstvenem timu oddelka intenzivne terapije (OIT). Namen raziskave je preučiti ključne elemente učinkovitega zdravstvenega tima in ugotoviti, kako medpoklicno sodelovanje vpliva na kakovost oskrbe bolnikov. Ključne ugotovitve magistrskega dela so, da je timsko delo ključno za zagotavljanje kakovostne in varne oskrbe bolnikov. Učinkovita komunikacija in koordinacija med člani tima pripomoreta k boljšim izidom zdravljenja in optimizaciji virov. Elementi uspešnega tima so jasno definirane vloge in odgovornosti, zaupanje in spoštovanje med člani tima ter nenehno izobraževanje in izpopolnjevanje strokovnega znanja. Veliko vlogo v delovanju ima odprta komunikacija, ki zmanjša možnosti za napake in izboljša koordinacijo oskrbe. Nejasnosti in neusklajenost v komunikaciji so pogosto vzrok za zaplete in daljšo hospitalizacijo pacientov. Posebno vlogo ima tudi vodja tima, ki usmerja delovanje tima, motivira člane in zagotavlja učinkovito razreševanje konfliktov. Dober vodja prispeva k večji zavzetosti zaposlenih in posledično k boljši oskrbi pacientov. Timsko delo na OIT ima številne izzive, med njimi čustvene in fizične obremenitve zaposlenih (npr. stres zaradi kritičnega stanja pacientov, delo v zahtevnih okoljih), hitro spreminjanje sestave tima in kompleksnost zdravstvenih posegov. Timsko delo ima vpliv tudi na zdravljenje pacientov, saj skupinsko delo vodi do natančnejših diagnoz, krajšega časa hospitalizacije in večjega zadovoljstva pacientov. Multidisciplinarni pristop pa omogoča celostno oskrbo bolnikov. Timsko delo in medpoklicno sodelovanje sta bistvenega pomena za zagotavljanje kakovostne oskrbe bolnikov na OIT. Potrebna sta stalno izboljševanje komunikacijskih veščin in spodbujanje pozitivnega delovnega okolja. Vodstvo zdravstvenih ustanov mora podpirati razvoj kompetenc zaposlenih s ciljem izboljšanja timskega sodelovanja. Magistrsko delo predstavlja pomemben prispevek k razumevanju pomena učinkovitega timskega dela v zdravstvu in poudarja potrebo po stalnem vlaganju v razvoj multidisciplinarnih timov za izboljšanje zdravstvenih izidov pacientov.The master\u27s thesis explores the significance of teamwork and interprofessional cooperation within the healthcare team in the intensive care unit (ICU). The aim of the research is to examine the key elements of an effective healthcare team and determine how interprofessional collaboration impacts the quality of patient care. The key findings of the thesis reveal that teamwork is essential for ensuring high-quality and safe patient care. Effective communication and coordination among team members contribute to better treatment outcomes and resource optimisation. The elements of a successful team include clearly defined roles and responsibilities, trust and respect among team members, and continuous education and professional development. Open communication plays a significant role in team functioning, as it reduces the likelihood of errors and improves care coordination. Miscommunication and lack of coordination are often the causes of complications and prolonged hospital stays for patients. The team leader also plays a special role by guiding the team’s activities, motivating members, and ensuring effective conflict resolution. A good leader enhances employee engagement, which in turn leads to better patient care. Teamwork in the ICU faces many challenges, including emotional and physical burdens on staff (e.g., stress due to the critical condition of patients and working in demanding environments), rapid changes in team composition, and the complexity of medical procedures. However, teamwork also has a positive impact on patient treatment, as collaborative work leads to more accurate diagnoses, shorter hospitalisation periods, and greater patient satisfaction. A multidisciplinary approach enables comprehensive patient care. Teamwork and interprofessional cooperation are of vital importance in ensuring high-quality patient care in the ICU. Continuous improvement of communication skills and the promotion of a positive working environment are necessary. The management of healthcare institutions must support the development of employees\u27 competencies to enhance team collaboration. The master\u27s thesis represents an important contribution to understanding the significance of effective teamwork in healthcare and highlights the need for continuous investment in the development of multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcome
