This study used the KJ method to explore qualitatively the factors that facilitate professional help seeking behavior among college students and further sought to identify any differences in those descriptions depending on the level of depression and their attributes. The result revealed 42 small groups, 12 medium groups, and finally 4 large groups were found, namely “decreased stigma and negative image”, “reduction in economic, time, and physical burden,” “reduction in psychological burden” and “professional service becomes more common and routine”. In the following diagrammatic process, one medium group of “changing one's own attitude”, not included in the large group, was distinguished as a facilitating factor particularly related to individual resources. Furthermore, certain intentions were shared across multiple groups and which were divided according to similarities of content: 1) increasing familiarity and friendliness, 2) showing interest in small problems, and 3) making professional help more common thing. It was also found that those with higher levels of depression expressed significantly more statements included in the middle group of “reduce stigma around them”.departmental bulletin pape

    Get PDF
Due to DX (Digital Transformation) of the entire society, social work practices have been forced to change. The purpose of this paper is to explore the impact of digitalization on social work and to consider challenges in social work digitalization. It was confirmed that, in Japan, social work practice has already changed because of the use of various technologies including AI-assisted decision-making. The results of a literature review showed that research on social work and technology such as ethical issues and the use of AI has expanded recently. Based on these findings, three challenges in social work digitalization have arisen: (1) The necessity of ethical consideration of digitalization, 2) The necessity of discussion about the three topics of AI-ready, AI-reliable, and Human-AI collaboration, and 3) The necessity of social work practice, education and research to catch up to digitalization. It is crucial for social workers to improve both ethical and digital literacy and to enhance competencies in the digital era.departmental bulletin pape

This study examined the effectiveness and challenges of case conferences using Solution Focused Reflecting Teams (SFRT). Semi-structured interviews were conducted with four participants who had attended SFR T case conferences provided by our team at least twice, and the commonalities and idiosyncrasies of their narratives were analyzed. The results showed that participants felt "safe" and "secure," that they were "affirmed" and "supported" as case study presenters, that they had an "interesting" and "inspiring" time as supporters, while some participants felt "confused" and "inadequate.” These results suggest that SFRT case conferences are effective in: (1) increasing participants' feelings of safety and security, (2) empowering participants, and (3) providing new learning opportunities for participants. Factors contributing to these results included the SFRT’s structured way of conducting case conferences, especially the affirmation and suggestions phases. The significance and challenges of this study were also discussed for future research.departmental bulletin pape

Pastoral Reflections on Martin Buber’s “I and Thou”(1923): From the Point of View of the Supervisory Perspective Within Clinical Pastoral Education.

I have learned a lot of important ideas from Buber’s “I and Thou,” especially as a supervisor in Clinical Pastoral Education. Buber sees Love, Word, Spirit as concepts between I and Thou, but human emotions as just dwelling inside of the person. Is it so? I can also see the emotions not only inside of the person, but also between I and Thou, consecrated by God’s Grace.departmental bulletin pape
