    A Riffaterrean Semiotic Reading of Nizar Qabbani’s Poem ‘Uhibbuki Jiddan’

    Purpose— This study aims to analyze the poem “Uhibbuki Jiddan” by Nizar Qabbani using Michael Riffaterre’s semiotic theory. It explores how signs, models, variants, matrices, and hypograms contribute to constructing meaning in the text. Design/methods/approach— Employing a qualitative descriptive method, the analysis applies Riffaterre’s two-level reading approach—heuristic (denotative) and hermeneutic (interpretative)—followed by identification of the model, variant, matrix, and hypogram elements found in the poem. Findings— The study reveals that the poem reflects the model of “impossible love”, expanded into three variants: love, uncertainty, and sacrifice. The matrix expresses the idea that love cannot be predicted by logic, but is sensed through emotional and bodily experiences. The hypogram links the poem to another of Qabbani’s poems, “Inni Uhibbuki”, reinforcing the central theme of sincere, unrequited affection. Research Implications— This research contributes to Arabic literary criticism by demonstrating how Riffaterre’s semiotics can uncover hidden emotional structures in romantic poetry. It also highlights the depth of Qabbani’s poetic expression and his ability to transform personal emotion into universal poetic symbols

    Kesetaraan Gender Dalam Iklan Melaju Syantiek Dengan Grab Tahun 2024 (Analisis Semiotika Roland Barthes)

    ABSTRAK: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis konstruksi makna kesetaraan gender dalam iklan  Melaju Syantiek  oleh Grab tahun 2024 melalui pendekatan semiotika Roland Barthes. Subjek penelitian berupa iklan digital yang ada di platform YouTube, menampilkan perempuan dengan profesi pengemudi driver online, yang sebelumnya profesi tersebut didominasi oleh laki-laki. Metode analisis semiotika digunakan untuk mengungkap makna denotatif, konotatif, dan mitos dalam tanda visual dan verbal dalam iklan. Hasil penelitian yang menunjukkan bahwa iklan ini merepresentasikan kesetaraan gender secara ambivalen: di satu sisi, menampilkan kemandirian perempuan di ruang publik dan solidaritas gender; di sisi lain, tetap bersantai perempuan dengan ekspektasi tradisional, seperti mempertahankan feminitas ( syantiek ) dan tanggung jawab domestik. Iklan juga mengonstruksi mitos bahwa teknologi dan kerja platform menjadi solusi utama kesetaraan, meski mengabaikan hambatan struktural seperti ketimpangan peran domestik dan risiko ekonomi digital. Rekomendasi penelitian menekankan perlunya transformasi sistemik, termasuk redistribusi tanggung jawab domestik dan kebijakan perlindungan pekerja, untuk mencapai kesetaraan gender yang substantif.Kata Kunci: Iklan Digital; Analisis Semiotika; Peran Ganda Perempuan

    Influence of Teams Games Tournament (TGT) Learning Model Assisted By Snakes and Ladders Media on Learning Outcomes

    This research related to conditions at SD Negeri Teluk Pucung III, Bekasi City, especially unsatisfactory student learning outcomes and learning objectives that did not optimally achieved due to limited teaching methods. It is known from observations and discussions with students, teachers and guardians who stated that educators have limitations in delivering material so that it is less interesting and ineffective. This research aims to explore the use of TGT teaching method in learning achievement of fifth grade students. The method used is quantitative method that design pretest-posttest group with pre-experimental approach. Data collection techniques include observation, review and the use of pretest and posttest questions. Research population is grade V students at SD Negeri Teluk Pucung III, Bekasi City with sample of 30 VC class students. To evaluate data, techniques applied are parametric data analysis including validity tests, reliability tests and normality tests. The Sig value produced before treatment was 0.593 and test result after treatment was 0.068, where the results of two Sig values were >0.05 so that the data met criteria and could be continued with t-test. Results of the t-test are average score obtained for pretest is 22.17 while average score for posttest is 34.33. So, from results of data analysis, there is an increase in value of Pretest to Posttest. This shows the influence of TGT teaching method on student learning outcomes with an influence level of 90%.Keywords: Team Games Tournament, Media, Learning Outcomes, Elementary School

    Community Initiation of The Kaba Indah Lestari Group In Forest Management

    This research aims to see what contributions are obtained and given by the kaba indah lestari women's group both for their own group, the community and the forest area. This research used a qualitative approach, described descriptively. Data collection was done by non-participant observation, unstructured interviews. Data analysis using Miles and Huberman data analysis techniques includes data collection, data reduction and data presentation. The theory used in analyzing the results of this research is Social Feminist theory. This research found several findings, namely the Kaba Indah Lestari Women Farmers Group gained access to manage the forest through a social forestry scheme with a conservation partnership, so that they could manage the land with several provisions. The activities carried out by the Kaba Indah Lestari Women Farmers Group are not only gardening, they also innovate by making processed food from their garden products such as coffee sticks, bags from plastic sachet drink packaging and bags from handicrafts. The Kaba Indah Lestari Women Farmers Group has made a good contribution in land management by growing vegetables organically so as to minimize soil and environmental pollution while caring for trees that have been planted by the forestry. The Kaba Indah Lestari Women Farmers Group has been independent and has an impact on the surrounding community through the program of sharing basic food and vegetables for the elderly and children who are prone to stunting.Keywords: Forest, Women Farmers Group, Contribution,s Managemen

    Law functions to protect various human interests and is implemented in both peaceful conditions and when violations occur. The decline in environmental quality due to the exploitation of natural resources is often justified in the name of people's welfare. This condition raises demands for effective environmental law enforcement amid the challenges of the Industrial Revolution 4.0. This research aims to analyze the impact of pollution and weak law enforcement, as well as examine the role of technology in improving legal effectiveness and formulating adaptive regulatory strategies in the digital era. This research employs a qualitative-descriptive approach, utilizing a library research method and inductive-deductive analysis, informed by various literature sources. The effectiveness of environmental law depends on fundamental principles, the application of technology, and collaborative law enforcement. Digital technology and industrial automation can strengthen the monitoring and transparency of ecological law if developed with an inclusive and fair approach. In listening skills, it is necessary to apply effective media to support the teaching and learning process in the classroom. This study aims to analyze instructional media and their implementation to improve listening skills in learning English. The method used in this research is qualitative method. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews. The results of this study found that implementing media provides many benefits in teaching listening skills, especially the TikTok application.     COMMUNITY SERVICE ON ENHANCING STUDENTS’S READING LITERACY THROUGH ARABIC SHORT STORISE USING LITERACY CLOUD.This Service Learning activity is focused on Pesantren Hidayatul Muhajirin in Cirebon. There are two main focuses in this service: First, on how the culture of reading Arabic short stories (cerpen) is practiced at Pesantren Hidayatul Muhajirin Cirebon. Second, on the implications of implementing the reading of Arabic short stories through the Literacy Cloud in shaping the reading literacy culture at Pesantren Hidayatul Muhajirin Cirebon. This Service Learning activity is crucial to assess the extent to which the implementation of reading Arabic short stories through the Literacy Cloud device influences the habituation of reading culture among the students (santri) at Pesantren Hidayatul Muhajirin. Through this habituation, it is expected that Arabic short stories can be learned and understood more easily. The method employed in this community service is the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach. The subjects or participants in this service include the Pesantren caretakers, several male and female Islamic scholars (ustadz/ustadzah), as well as male and female students (santriwan and santriwati). Data collection for this service involves observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the service show that the reading literacy at Pesantren Hidayatul Muhajirin has not been well-formed. The guidance provided in reading Arabic short stories through the Literacy Cloud has an impact on the formation of reading literacy among the students, shifting the perception of Arabic short stories from initially being perceived as difficult to becoming easy and enjoyable

    Leadership That Inspires: Unlocking Teacher Potential In Islamic Primary Education

    This research aims to understand the leadership strategy of madrasah heads in improving teacher performance at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) Salafiyah Cirebon City. Using qualitative research methods, data was collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study show that madrasah heads have successfully implemented effective strategies such as weekly briefings, the provision of supporting facilities, and strengthening the capacity of teachers through professional development programs to create a conducive work environment and strengthen the relationship between teachers and leaders, as well as arouse teachers' work motivation to continue to develop. However, there are several challenges faced, including limited supervision, technological readiness, and time management. These findings affirm the importance of participatory and communicative strategic leadership and the need for continuous training to maintain and improve the quality of performance in the madrasah environment.Keywords : Strategy, Performanc

    Inadequate Funding of Basic Education in Nigeria: Implications for Quality and Equity in Learning Delivery

    AbstractBasic education forms the cornerstone of national development, yet Nigeria continues to suffer from chronic underfunding despite policy frameworks aimed at universal access. This paper adopts a systematic literature review (SLR) methodology, guided by the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) framework, to investigate the implications of inadequate funding on the quality delivery of basic education in Nigeria. Drawing on peer-reviewed literature, policy documents, and empirical reports published between 1999 and 2024, the review sourced data from Google Scholar, JSTOR, ERIC, and ResearchGate. One thousand three hundred fifteen records were identified, with 86 studies meeting the inclusion criteria after screening and eligibility assessment. The findings highlight a consistent failure to meet the UNESCO-recommended 15–20% budgetary allocation for education, with basic education often receiving marginal and delayed disbursements. Key issues identified include dilapidated infrastructure, a shortage of qualified teachers, inadequate teaching materials, and weak financial accountability at the state level—aggravated by the conditional requirement for counterpart funding to access federal grants. The review also reveals that political apathy, poor fiscal planning, and mismanagement undermine efforts to improve basic education outcomes. The paper recommends a stronger policy enforcement mechanism, transparent fund allocation, and integrating alternative funding strategies such as public-private partnerships and community-based financing to reverse these trends. This review contributes valuable insights for policymakers and education stakeholders committed to achieving equitable and quality basic education in Nigeria by 2030.Keywords: basic education, educational underfunding, quality education delivery, nigeria education policy. AbstrakPendidikan dasar merupakan landasan pembangunan nasional, namun Nigeria terus mengalami kekurangan dana kronis meskipun kerangka kebijakan ditujukan untuk akses universal. Penelitian ini mengadopsi metodologi tinjauan pustaka sistematis (SLR), yang dipandu oleh kerangka PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses), untuk menyelidiki implikasi dari pendanaan yang tidak memadai pada kualitas penyampaian pendidikan dasar di Nigeria. Mengacu pada literatur yang ditinjau sejawat, dokumen kebijakan, dan laporan empiris yang diterbitkan antara tahun 1999 dan 2024, tinjauan tersebut mengambil data dari Google Scholar, JSTOR, ERIC, dan ResearchGate. Seribu tiga ratus lima belas catatan diidentifikasi, dengan 86 studi memenuhi kriteria inklusi setelah penyaringan dan penilaian kelayakan. Temuan tersebut menyoroti kegagalan yang konsisten untuk memenuhi alokasi anggaran 15–20% yang direkomendasikan UNESCO untuk pendidikan, dengan pendidikan dasar sering kali menerima pencairan yang marjinal dan tertunda. Masalah utama yang diidentifikasi meliputi infrastruktur yang rusak, kekurangan guru yang berkualifikasi, materi pengajaran yang tidak memadai, dan akuntabilitas keuangan yang lemah di tingkat negara bagian—diperburuk oleh persyaratan bersyarat untuk pendanaan pendamping guna mengakses hibah federal. Tinjauan tersebut juga mengungkap bahwa apatisme politik, perencanaan fiskal yang buruk, dan salah urus melemahkan upaya untuk meningkatkan hasil pendidikan dasar. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan mekanisme penegakan kebijakan yang lebih kuat, alokasi dana yang transparan, dan mengintegrasikan strategi pendanaan alternatif seperti kemitraan publik-swasta dan pembiayaan berbasis masyarakat untuk membalikkan tren ini. Tinjauan ini memberikan wawasan berharga bagi para pembuat kebijakan dan pemangku kepentingan pendidikan yang berkomitmen untuk mencapai pendidikan dasar yang adil dan berkualitas di Nigeria pada tahun 2030.                      Kata kunci: pendidikan dasar, kurangnya dana pendidikan, penyediaan pendidikan bermutu, kebijakan pendidikan Nigeria

    SIGNIFIKASI POTRET PEREMPUAN MULIA DALAM AL-QUR’AN SERTA KORELASINYA DENGAN PRINSIP KESETARAAN DAN KEADILAN GENDER

    This study aims to examine the Qur'anic verses that contain noble female figures using Roland Barthes' signification theory approach. Signification enriches the understanding of God's word through linguistic and mythical analysis. The object of study includes seven female figures immortalized in the Qur'an, namely Maryam, the mother of Moses, Asiyah, Bilqis, two daughters of Prophet Shu'aib, Siti Sarah, and Siti Hajar. This research uses a qualitative method based on library research, with a thematic approach (dirāsat al-mawḍū'iyyah) to one main verse of each character. The results of the analysis show that the portraits of these noble women not only serve as ibrah, but also reflect the principles of gender equality and justice. The reinterpretation of these figures reveals the spiritual and social roles of women in the construction of revelation. The novelty of this research lies in the specific focus on female figures endowed with noble degrees in the Qur'an as well as the integration of Barthes' semiotic approach with the discourse of gender equality. The findings contribute to the development of gender-sensitive Qur'anic interpretation and open up space for a fairer interpretation of the role of women in religious texts. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji ayat-ayat Al-Qur’an yang memuat tokoh-tokoh perempuan mulia dengan menggunakan pendekatan teori signifikasi Roland Barthes. Signifikasi memperkaya pemahaman firman Allah melalui analisis linguistik dan mitos. Objek kajian mencakup tujuh tokoh perempuan yang diabadikan dalam Al-Qur’an, yakni Maryam, ibunda Musa, Asiyah, Bilqis, dua putri Nabi Syu’aib, Siti Sarah, dan Siti Hajar. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif berbasis studi pustaka (library research), dengan pendekatan tematik (dirāsat al-mawḍū‘iyyah) terhadap satu ayat utama dari masing-masing tokoh. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa potret perempuan-perempuan mulia tersebut tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai ibrah, tetapi juga mencerminkan prinsip-prinsip kesetaraan dan keadilan gender. Pemaknaan ulang terhadap figur-figur tersebut mengungkap peran spiritual dan sosial perempuan dalam konstruksi wahyu. Kebaruan penelitian ini terletak pada fokus spesifik terhadap tokoh perempuan yang dikaruniai derajat mulia dalam Al-Qur’an serta integrasi pendekatan semiotika Barthes dengan wacana kesetaraan gender. Temuan ini berkontribusi terhadap pengembangan tafsir Al-Qur’an yang peka gender dan membuka ruang pemaknaan yang lebih adil terhadap peran perempuan dalam teks keagamaan
