Unveiling the Beauty of Figurative Language: A Stylistic Analysis of Qur’an Surah As-Saffat and Ar-Rahman in Abdullah Yusuf Ali’s Translation
Background: Figurative language deals with non-literal language to shift meaning by comparing other words to the original composition. This appears in many works of literature, including the holy Qur’an. Therefore, it is essential to study, not intending to reduce or increase the meaning of the Qur’an.
Aims: This study aims to identify the types of figurative language in the surahs As-Saffat and Ar-Rahman and examine the most dominant figurative language in both surahs.
Methods: This qualitative study analyzed the linguistic phenomena in the verses. The objects were As-Saffat, which consists of 182 verses, and surah Ar-Rahman, which consists of 78 verses. The data were presented descriptively.
Results: The findings revealed that 81 verses in both Surah As-Saffat and Ar-Rahman contain figurative language. Surah As-Saffat contained 32 data points of figurative language, while Ar-Rahman had 49 data points. The most dominant type of figurative language in Surah As-Saffat is ellipsis, and in Surah Ar-Rahman, it is rhetoric.
Implications: The analysis results reflect that academics can be a form of integration between religious and general science, such as literature. Therefore, a more in-depth al-Qur’an can be easily perceived. Although related to general science, it does not leave the rules in interpreting the Qur’an. This can enrich the reference for Teaching English as a Foreign Language
PRELIMINARY STUDY: COLLABORATION SKILLS IN SCIENCE LESSONS FOR GRADE IV PRIMARY SCHOOL LEARNERS
Collaboration skills as part of the urgency of learning in the 21st century have a crucial position for elementary school students. The discourse on increasing research in the field of education is not in line with the lack of research that discusses students\u27 collaboration skills to participate in groups comprehensively. This study aims to fill this gap by exploring the initial condition of collaboration skills of 126 grade IV students in three elementary schools in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta in depth. The researcher detailed the results of the case study analysis on students\u27 collaboration skills in elementary school. One hundred and twenty-six grade IV students in three elementary schools in Sleman district were selected for observation. Semi-structured observations, semi-structured interviews, and several documents are present as instruments to collect data on initial conditions related to students\u27 collaboration skills. The results show the need to develop students\u27 collaboration skills through learning media innovations that are oriented to the characteristics of diverse student learning styles. This study has implications for the importance of improving students\u27 collaboration skills in science learning in the curriculum through learning media innovations that are tailored to the needs of students\u27 learning styles and can provide independent learning guidelines for students in preparing themselves to face the demands of 21st century skills
THE PRINCIPAL\u27S STRATEGY IN CULTIVATING STUDENTS\u27 DISCIPLINE CHARACTER AT THE INDONESIAN SCHOOL IN KUALA LUMPUR MALAYSIA
This research aims to analyze various strategies used by school principals in cultivating students\u27 disciplined character in Indonesian schools in Kuala Lumpur. The research method used was a qualitative study by conducting interviews and observations of several school teachers and principals at Indonesian schools in Kuala Lumpur. The research results show that there are several strategies that are commonly used, including establishing clear school rules, consistent application of sanctions and rewards, involving parents in building student character, and creating a supportive learning environment. The implication of this research is the important role of school principals in shaping students\u27 disciplinary character and the need for comprehensive and consistent implementation of strategies. It is hoped that this research can contribute to the development of character education in Indonesian schools in Kuala Lumpur. The research results show that the principal has a very important role in cultivating the disciplined character of students at school. They use a variety of strategies, including establishing clear school rules, consistent application of sanctions and rewards, involving parents, and creating a supportive learning environment. Presupposition in the Character of Judy: A Pragmatic Analysis of the Zootopia Movie Script
Background: A well-grounded and accurate assumption helps in selecting appropriate lexical variations before expressing a statement in communication. Movies serve as an effective medium for this purpose, as they reflect real-life situations. In pragmatics, presuppositions allow listeners to recognize implied meanings and better understand communicative intentions.
Aims: This study examines the use of presuppositions in the Zootopia movie script by applying George Yule’s (1996) theory of presupposition. It aims to identify the types of presuppositions expressed in the dialogue, analyze the educational character values demonstrated by the main character, and interpret the meanings conveyed through presuppositions in the movie script.
Methods: The study employed a qualitative content analysis design. The data were collected from the dialogues of the main character in the Zootopia movie script.
Results: A total of 106 presuppositional instances were identified. Existential and factual presuppositions were the most frequently occurring types. Additionally, five educational character values were found: (1) peacemaker, (2) curiosity, (3) discipline, (4) responsibility, and (5) hard work.
Implication: The interpretation of presuppositions allows audiences to gain deeper insights into the underlying meanings of the dialogue. Through movie scripts, viewers can not only engage with the storyline and character development but also grasp the film’s core messages and objectives. Future research should extend beyond presuppositions to explore a broader range of linguistic phenomena
MENGAPA PERENCANAAN PENDIDIKAN ITU PENTING ? : MENYINGKAP SEJARAH DAN LATAR BELAKANG PENDIDIKAN
Abstract
Educational planning is a crucial element in achieving optimal quality of education. This study aims to explain the history and background of the importance of planning in the world of education, as well as the factors that encourage the need for adaptive educational planning that is relevant to the development of the times. Educational planning is not only about formulating goals and strategies, but also includes an understanding of social, economic, political, and technological developments. Over the course of history, educational planning has evolved from being simple in early civilizations to becoming a structured and complex system. Various theories and approaches in educational planning have also changed to adapt to the demands of globalization and technological advances. This article reviews various perspectives from experts and emphasizes the importance of understanding the historical context in designing effective educational planning. Thus, mature educational planning can support the achievement of better educational goals, as well as ensure inclusive and sustainable education in the future. This study also offers suggestions for improving the quality of educational planning to be more responsive to changes and community needs.

Perencanaan pendidikan tidak hanya sekedar menyusun tujuan dan strategi, tetapi juga mencakup pemahaman terhadap perkembangan sosial, ekonomi, politik, dan teknologi. Seiring perjalanan sejarah, perencanaan pendidikan telah berkembang dari yang bersifat sederhana dalam peradaban awal hingga menjadi sistem yang terstruktur dan kompleks. Berbagai teori dan pendekatan dalam perencanaan pendidikan juga telah mengalami perubahan untuk menyesuaikan dengan tuntutan globalisasi dan kemajuan teknologi. Artikel ini mengulas berbagai perspektif dari para ahli dan menekankan pentingnya memahami konteks historis dalam merancang perencanaan pendidikan yang efektif. Dengan demikian, perencanaan pendidikan yang matang dapat mendukung pencapaian tujuan pendidikan yang lebih baik, serta menjamin pendidikan yang inklusif dan berkelanjutan di masa depan. Penelitian ini juga menawarkan saran untuk meningkatkan kualitas perencanaan pendidikan agar lebih responsif terhadap perubahan dan kebutuhan masyarakat.

Pencatatan Perkawinan dan Sanksi Hukumnya: Studi Kritis Terhadap Asas Kepastian, Keadilan, dan Kemanfaatan
The policy of sanctioning laws and regulations for violations of marriage registration provides space for discourse in both a philosophical and practical context. The understanding of marriages that are not recorded encompasses violations in juridical terminology, as the content of sanctions can have actual implications for the emergence of problematic law enforcement in the field of marriage. This research was conducted to analyze and find out what the juridical implications are for the sanction policies contained in various legal regulations related to violations of marriage registration. The literature study method is the method used in this research, by collecting data through a review of various kinds of legal rules. This study uses a statutory regulation approach in examining regulations related to legal issues regarding sanctions for violations of marriage registration. Several policies that contain sanctions for violations of the legal registration of marriages are considered inappropriate because they cannot be met on a fundamental basis. There is a bias in the authority of law enforcement in the object of this violation of marriage registration. Legal ambiguity can arise in the process of sentencing if it is associated with the content of sanctions that have a tendency not to be in the realm of private law.Kebijakan adanya sanksi dalam peraturan perundang-undangan atas pelanggaran pencatatan perkawinan nyatanya memberi ruang diskursus dalam konteks filosofis maupun praktisnya. Pemahaman tentang perkawinan yang tidak dicatatkan termasuk pelanggaran dalam terminologi yuridis karena adanya muatan sanksi justru dapat berimplikasi timbulnya pemberlakuan hukum yang bermasalah dalam bidang perkawinan. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menganalisa dan mengetahui seperti apa implikasi yuridis terhadap kebijakan sanksi yang terdapat dalam berbagai aturan hukum terkait pelanggaran atas pencatatan perkawinan. Metode studi kepustakaan menjadi metode dalam penelitian ini, dengan pengumpulan data melalui telaah terhadap berbagai macam aturan hukum. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan peraturan perundang-undangan dalam mengkaji regulasi berkaitan isu hukum berkenaan dengan sanksi atas pelanggaran pencatatan perkawinan. Beberapa kebijakan yang memuat sanksi pelanggaran pencatatan perkawinan secara yuridis dinilai kurang tepat karena tidak dapat dipenuhi secara mendasar. Terjadinya bias kewenangan penegakan hukum dalam objek pelanggaran pencatatan perkawinan ini. Ambiguitas hukum dapat muncul dalam proses penjatuhan hukuman bila dikaitkan dengan adanya muatan sanksi yang memiliki kecenderungan tidak pada ranah hukum privat
PENGARUH KOMPETENSI PROFESIONAL GURU DAN SARANA PRASARANA TERHADAP MOTIVASI BELAJAR PESERTA DIDIK DI PONDOK PESANTREN MODERN NURUL IKHLAS
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kompetensi profesional guru dan sarana prasarana terhadap motivasi belajar peserta didik di Pondok Pesantren Modern Nurul Ikhlas. Latar belakang penelitian ini didasarkan pada pentingnya motivasi belajar sebagai faktor kunci dalam keberhasilan proses pendidikan. Kompetensi profesional guru menjadi tolok ukur kualitas pengajaran, sementara sarana prasarana memberikan dukungan fisik dan kenyamanan yang turut memengaruhi semangat belajar siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif korelasional dengan populasi sebanyak 308 peserta didik, dan sampel sebanyak 100 orang yang dipilih melalui teknik Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui angket dengan skala Likert. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh signifikan antara kompetensi profesional guru terhadap motivasi belajar dengan nilai signifikansi 0.001 dan koefisien korelasi sebesar 0.587. Sarana prasarana juga berpengaruh signifikan terhadap motivasi belajar dengan nilai signifikansi 0.003 dan koefisien korelasi 0.563. Uji F menunjukkan nilai signifikansi 0.003, yang mengindikasikan bahwa kedua variabel independen secara simultan berpengaruh terhadap motivasi belajar. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa baik kompetensi guru maupun sarana prasarana secara parsial dan simultan memberikan kontribusi terhadap peningkatan motivasi belajar peserta didik
MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN KOGNITIF MELALUI ALAT PERMAINAN EDUKATIF TUTUP BOTOL ANGKA PADA ANAK USIA 4-5 TAHUN
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan simbolik anak usia 4-5 tahun di KB Latanssa. Berdasarkan data observasi di KB Latanssa sebelum diterapkannya pembelajaran menggunakan alat permainan edukatif (APE) tutup botol angka, mayoritas anak usia 4-5 tahun berada pada kategori BB (Belum Berkembang) di semua indikator. Sebagian kecil anak berada pada kategori MB (Masih Berkembang), sementara kategori BSH (Berkembang Sesuai Harapan) dan BSB (Berkembang Sangat Baik) belum tercapai secara signifikan. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan pembelajaran yang digunakan belum mampu mengoptimalkan perkembangan kemampuan simbolik anak. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu penelitian tindakan kelas, Melalui penerapan APE tutup botol angka, terjadi peningkatan signifikan pada kemampuan simbolik anak. Pada Pra Siklus, sebanyak 67% anak berada pada kategori BB, tetapi pada Siklus II persentase ini menurun drastis menjadi 0%. Sebaliknya, kategori BSB mengalami peningkatan yang signifikan, yaitu dari 0% pada Pra Siklus menjadi 87% pada Indikator I, 80% pada Indikator II, dan 73% pada Indikator III di Siklus II. Penurunan pada kategori BB dan MB menunjukkan adanya pergeseran ke tingkat perkembangan yang lebih tinggi, sementara peningkatan pada kategori BSH dan BSB mencerminkan efektivitas penggunaan APE dalam pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa APE tutup botol angka dapat menjadi metode yang efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan simbolik anak secara bertahap. Dengan pendekatan yang menarik dan interaktif, APE ini membantu anak lebih memahami konsep bilangan melalui pengalaman langsung dan menyenangkan. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi pada pengembangan strategi pembelajaran berbasis permainan edukatif di pendidikan anak usia dini untuk mendukung perkembangan kognitif mereka
KARAKTER KEPEMIMPINAN DEMOKRATIS DENGAN KONSEP-KONSEP ISLAM DILEMBAGA PENDIDIKAN, BESERTA PELUANG DAN TANTANGANNYA
Democratic leadership in Islamic educational institutions is a crucial concept rooted in Islamic principles of deliberation, justice, and trustworthiness, aiming to foster inclusive, participatory environments and develop critical, responsible individuals. This study aims to analyze the foundational concepts, implementation mechanisms, opportunities, and challenges of Islamic-based democratic leadership in educational institutions. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method using a literature review approach, analyzing data from relevant academic sources. Findings indicate that democratic leadership is implemented through the active involvement of teachers and staff in deliberation processes, granting freedom of opinion, and upholding justice, which subsequently enhances teacher professionalism and establishes a healthy, harmonious organizational culture. Nevertheless, key challenges persist, including dominant authoritarian cultural aspects, rigid policies, and limitations in funding for staff training and necessary facilities. Comprehensive and sustainable strategies are essential to optimize these democratic Islamic values to achieve high-quality and competitive Islamic education.

QUR’ANIC VALUES AS THE FOUNDATION OF ISLAMIC WORK ETHIC: A THEMATIC STUDY ON THE CONCEPTS OF ‘AMAL, AMANAH, AND ISTIQĀMAH
This study aims to examine the Qur’anic perspective on work ethics, focusing on three core values: amanah (trust and responsibility), istiqāmah (consistency), and ikhlāṣ (sincerity). Using a thematic exegesis (tafsīr maudhu‘ī) approach combined with a comprehensive literature review, this research identifies Qur’anic verses related to work (‘amal) and contextualizes them within contemporary discussions on the Islamic Work Ethic (IWE). The findings reveal that, in Islam, work is regarded as an integral form of worship that must be carried out with honesty, consistency, and moral integrity. The value of amanah plays a central role in fostering trust and loyalty within organizations, while istiqāmah ensures the sustainability of ethical conduct, and ikhlāṣ instills a transcendental motivation that elevates professional dedication beyond material goals. Furthermore, the study demonstrates that the application of Qur’anic values in professional and educational settings can enhance productivity, job satisfaction, and the development of an ethical and healthy organizational culture. Overall, the study concludes that the Qur’anic work ethic remains profoundly relevant in addressing the professional and moral challenges of the contemporary global era
