Empowering Immigrant Entrepreneurship Activities: Business Support and Cash Waqf for Immigrant Entrepreneurs Model
This study aims to shed a light on how Islamic finance can play a significant role in alleviating the challenges that IE experienced and improving the accessibility to fiscal sources and social integration of the Immigrant Entrepreneurs (IE) in the host country, especially Malaysia. The prominent challenges that the IEs are facing are the difficulties in accessing the capital to finance their business and the lack of knowledge of the local regulations. The findings lead to a model that aims to tackle the challenges that IE experienced via Business Support and Cash Waqf for IE Model (BS-WIEM). The BS-WIEM acts as a comprehensive initiative to bridge the resource disparity among IE in terms of funding accessibility and human capital development. This study attempts to construct the BS-WIEM based on the extensive literature review related to the challenges the IE experienced and waqf. This research can positively impact the development and funding of the IE in Malaysia. This study will provide insights to the government, waqf institutions, corporations, financial institutions, and policymakers about alternative funding options for IE businesses and start-ups in the host country. Less tension on the public spending by the government with the involvement of non-profit organizations. This conceptual paper only explores the literature; thus, no empirical analysis is available. More in-depth and comprehensive insights could be identified with the empirical studies. Future research on the regulatory and shariah perspective of the model should be done. The findings of this paper will offer a cash waqf model as an alternative to fund the development of entrepreneurship in Malaysia, especially for immigrants

Determinants of Liquidity in Islamic Banking: A VECM Analysis of Bank Muamalat (2008–2024)
Research Aims: This research aims to examine the impact of Third-Party Funds (DPK), Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Non-Performing Financing (NPF), and inflation on the liquidity of Bank Muamalat over the period 2008–2024.
Design/methodology/approach: This research adopts a quantitative approach. The sample comprises quarterly financial reports of Bank Muamalat and inflation data from Bank Indonesia the period from 2008 to 2024, totaling 68 observations. The hypotheses were tested using the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) with the aid of the EViews 12 software.
Research Findings: The analysis shows that Third-Party Funds (DPK) consistently exert a positive and significant influence on the liquidity of Bank Muamalat in both the short and long term. This indicates that stable deposit growth is essential for maintaining and enhancing the bank’s liquidity position. Additionally, a strong Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) significantly contributes to liquidity by improving the bank’s risk management capacity and supporting sustainable growth and operational stability. Conversely, Non-Performing Financing (NPF) does not affect liquidity significantly in the short term, likely due to effective internal risk mitigation policies. However, in the long term, NPF has a positive impact on liquidity, suggesting that the bank’s strategic management of credit risk helps preserve liquidity despite rising non-performing assets
The Influence of Audit Quality and Capital Structure on Firm Performance with Earnings Management as a Mediating Variable
Purpose: This study aims to examine the effect of audit quality on company performance with earnings management as a mediating variable. These variables consist of audit quality, capital structure, firm performance, and earnings management. The uniqueness of this study lies in the use of mediating variables in earnings management.
Methodology: The data source taken is the financial statements of service companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in 2017-2023, which were obtained through the official IDX platform. By using the purposive sampling technique, this study collected 154 data for further analysis.
Findings: The results of this study indicate that audit quality and capital structure have an effect on earnings management, earnings management has a negative effect on ROA and ROE, audit quality and capital structure have an effect on ROA and ROE, and audit quality and capital structure have a direct effect on both ROA and ROE, so earnings management cannot mediate the effect of audit quality and capital structure on firm performance (ROA and ROE).
Novelty: This study combines the four variables (audit quality, capital structure, firm performance, and earnings management), which is still relatively rare, so there is an opportunity to explore new relationships and how quality audits can limit earnings management and ultimately improve company performance. Also, earnings management is often used to cover up the negative impacts of certain capital structures

Military Expenditure and Sustainable Economic Growth in Latin America.
This research seeks to thoroughly examine the interconnectedness and directional influence between military spending and sustainable economic growth while considering the role of gross fixed capital formation (investment) as a controlling factor. Drawing on a comprehensive dataset from 13 distinct Latin American economies, spanning the extensive time frame of 1990 to 2019, the study investigates the patterns of cointegration and causal relationships within the variables. The results of the cointegration analysis do not provide substantial support for the existence of a strong and enduring relationship between all the examined variables over the long term. Notably, the research identifies a unidirectional causality running from (i) economic growth to military expenditure, (ii) economic growth to investment, and (iii) investment to military expenditure. This suggests a complex interplay between economic dynamics, investment patterns, and military spending behaviors in the context of Latin American economies, highlighting the need for a nuanced understanding of the underlying causal mechanisms at play. Moreover, it is necessary to consider national and international policies to promote sustainable development in countries, given it produces benefits for investment, safety, and security. As nations strive for sustained development, the research underscores the need for policymakers to grapple with the intricate implications of military expenditure on economic and investment landscapes. This holistic perspective advocates for a balanced and inclusive approach, cognizant of the multifaceted challenges and opportunities that characterize the evolving socio-economic and geopolitical landscape of the region
