An Overview New Advances and Responsibilities in Dental Public Health, Role of Nursing and Radiology Department

    Get PDF
Professionals in the dental field believed that the promotion of oral health was an essential component of their responsibility as professionals. A patient\u27s participation in the decision-making process and educational activities, as well as the practice and evaluation of skill development, was one of their goals. In spite of the fact that the dental professionals believed that they participated in health promotion activities, they failed to make a clear distinction between disease prevention and oral health promotion. As a result of the fact that radiologists are frequently confronted with dental imaging, whether it be in relation to a specific question, such as a trauma patient, or in relation to incidental findings throughout head and neck imaging, it is more than worthwhile for them to receive additional training in this field in order to facilitate early and adequate dental treatment

Diagnosing a C. difficile infection (CDI), treating patients, and managing recurrences is a complex process that lacks a complete and thorough understanding of the necessary measures to enhance patient care. This research aims to highlight the lack of diverse viewpoints in considering the issues faced in optimizing care delivery. It specifically focuses on the role of family physicians, nurses, dietitians, and clinical laboratories in managing clinical practice and healthcare system-related challenges. The incidence of Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) is increasing, leading to higher healthcare expenses for patients as a result of prolonged hospital stays, diagnostic procedures, and medication usage. The reporting of CDI management in primary care worldwide is inadequate. General practitioners offer appropriate outpatient treatment for mild initial cases of Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) with oral metronidazole. If a person continues to experience diarrhea even after receiving the correct treatment for Clostridiodes, it should be seen as an early indication that a recurrence may occur

Standard precautions effectively mitigate the transmission of pathogens inside hospital environments. Noncompliance with infection control measures among healthcare workers (HCWs) can heighten their susceptibility to infectious diseases, particularly during pandemics. The objective of this study was to evaluate the extent to which healthcare workers (HCWs) in various healthcare settings adhere to infection prevention and control methods, and to examine how their perspectives on workplace infection control measures during the COVID-19 pandemic are related to their level of compliance. The adherence to routine precautions by respiratory therapists, radiologists, laboratory personnel, pharmacists, and nursing teams during the COVID-19 pandemic was excellent. The average adherence ratings to the standard precautions may be linked to age and professional category. It is recommended to implement a continuous training program for healthcare personnel to improve their adherence to conventional precautions. This program should include ongoing monitoring and assessment

Modern Techniques in Hospital Infection Control

    Get PDF
A rapid increase has been observed in nosocomial (hospital-acquired) infections due to a growing population of immunocompromised hosts and those taking invasive measures to prolong life. Many advances have been made in the control of nosocomial infections, but the sheer magnitude of the problem dictates the continued search for better methods. The papers in this series are based on a conference sponsored by the Section on Hospital Epidemiology of the Society for Pediatrician, 15-17 November 1981, and are intended to provide guidelines for infection control practices in different hospital areas. Given the wide variety of hospitals and the differences in patient populations, it is understood that the practical application of these guidelines will vary considerably. The continued effort to assess the efficacy and utility of the methods suggested in the following papers is necessary to gauge their merit and to search for even better methods

Introduction. The current outbreak of the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has spread rapidly and become pandemic.  This study aims to analyze the biopsychosocial aspects associated with COVID-19 who delivered in Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital (RSCM). Methods. This is a descriptive observational cross-sectional study, included all pregnant women with confirmed COVID-19 who delivered in RSCM from March to December 2020. Data were collected from medical records and interviewing the subjects. Cases were analyzed for demographic, biophysical, psychological, and social aspects associated with COVID-19. Result. We collected 183 patients with suspected COVID-19, and 37 patients were confirmed for COVID-19. Most pregnant women with COVID-19 infection have no comorbid before testing positive (65%). The outcome of both mothers and neonates was good with only 2.7% of mortality. From the psychological aspects, most subjects had sleep disturbance (53%), and 1 subject admitted suicide desire. From a social aspect, we observe the source of transmission through contact history and application of health protocols, only 30% of the subjects were known to have had contact with suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19, and most of the subjects followed health protocol (72.2%). Conclusion. The most common method of delivery was a cesarean section, with good clinical outcomes.  Neonatal outcomes also had good clinical outcomes with most of the PCR results being negative. From the psychological aspects, most subjects had sleep disturbance. From the social aspect, most have not known to have contact with a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 and most of the subjects followed health protocol consistently

Early diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of a vaso-occlusive crisis (VOC) are critical to the management of patients with sickle cell disease. Literature search conducted through electronic databases, such as PUBMED, EMBASE. We aimed to discuss the proper management of VOC, after emphasizing the mechanism and complications of VOC in SCD. Vaso- occlusive crisis in people with SCD is a multifactorial process identified by inflammation, attachment, and multicellular aggregation of sickled RBCs, endothelial cells, platelets, and also other blood cells, resulting in vaso-occlusion and acute extreme pain

    Get PDF
A total of 27 articles were included in this review, and data were extracted and reviewed using a data matrix. A qualitative synthesis was employed. Findings showed that hand washing can be effective in reducing hospital-acquired infections, but the behavior is complex and multifaceted, and there is no one universally effective intervention. Several specific hand hygiene interventions designed to improve compliance that were related to decreases in infection rates were identified. These components for success included effective educational strategies, access to continual resources, integrating the hand hygiene program into an organizational culture, and dissemination of results. (Mouajou et al., 2022) The aim of the study was to analyze the effectiveness of hand washing programs in reducing hospital-acquired infections and identify the components of a successful hand hygiene behavior intervention. An integrative review was employed in this study and articles were retrieved from three databases: PubMed, CINAHL, and Academic Search Premier. Searches were initially conducted using key terms such as hand washing, hand hygiene, and nosocomial infections. Articles were included if the populations were hospital patients and healthcare workers, the interventions involved hand hygiene behavior, and the outcomes were changes in infection rates or compliance with the intervention. Primary and secondary articles were selected using additional search criteria, and articles were critically appraised and classified according to the level of evidence

The implementation of information and communication technologies has been one of the most innovative additions to the Andalusian education system. This region was at the forefront in the application of free software in the public administration and in primary and secondary schools. A specialised figure has been created for the use of new technologies in the different educational centres, the ICT coordinator. The ICT coordinator at Andalusian educational centres plays a key role in ensuring the proper use of information and communication technologies in the classroom. The aim is to study how the functioning of the ICT Co-ordination team and the role of the ICT Co-ordinators affect the administration of the HELVIA and PASEN platforms through a structural equation model and to analyse the differences in the effects depending on the socio-cultural level of the schools. A cross-sectional and exploratory study was carried out on a sample of 458 ICT Coordinators in Andalusia (Spain). An ad hoc questionnaire was used to collect the data. The data reveal differences in the effects of the variables depending on the socio-cultural context in which the schools are located. In conclusion, the socio-cultural context plays a fundamental role in the effect of the ICT Coordination teams together with the ICT Coordinators when managing HELVIA and PASEN

Many studies have indicated that people\u27s emotional abilities play a significant role in advancing processes. Studies conducted on teachers have indicated a connection between the educator\u27s emotional abilities and their significant role in managing conflicts in such a way that improves the school climate academically, behaviorally, and socially, and can affect the community itself in the future. Based on the ABC Model (Activating events, Beliefs, Consequences) that was developed by the psychologist Albert Ellis, a workshop of ten two-hour sessions was conducted with approximately one hundred teachers, coaches, and therapists. The workshop was aimed at acquiring, practicing, and assimilating emotional skills and abilities as part of conflict management (Sahin & Acar, 2019). The Questionnaires and the interviews completed by the participants of the workshops at the beginning and at the end of the process showed that their self-esteem improved significantly following the use of the four strategies that will be presented. The research findings indicate an important behavioral change in conflict management in cases in which use of artistic tools was made as a way of creating optimal social and emotional climate by providing the educator and learners creative ways to cope with conflicts. These findings can be used to improve the way in which schoolteachers manage conflicts or as part of developing innovative intervention programs and enriching the toolbox for conflict management. The educator\u27s emotional abilities contribute greatly and significantly on developing conflict management abilities in an educational environment that encourages and enables the existence of social and academic processes that emphasize and pay attention to emotional processes, since to create, an enabling educational environment is required to demonstrate a high level of emotional intelligence, a high sense of self-efficacy and an empathy ability. Kinesthetic artistic tools can allow teachers to be creative in building work plans and professional development. The article provides documentation of the changes presented in the conduct and professional development of teachers in training for dealing with and managing conflicts

Running Head: The Mediating Role of Alexithymia in the Relationship between Insecure Attachment and Loneliness

    Get PDF
Attachment-related insecurities along with emotional processing difficulties, hamper the ability of individuals to acquire and maintain close relational bonds. Identification and expression of feelings enable individuals to form supportive and intimate interpersonal relationships, and serve a protective function against experiencing loneliness. This is particularly relevant in young adults, who experience important life transitions and their levels of loneliness show an upward trend, the last decades. This study aims to investigate associations between alexithymic characteristics and adult attachment orientations (anxiety and avoidance), as well as, the mediating role of alexithymia in the relationship between insecure attachment and loneliness. Our sample consisted of 379 Greek-speaking young adults, aged 18-25, who took part in an online survey and completed measures of attachment orientation, alexithymia and loneliness. Regression models indicated that both attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance were positively associated with alexithymia dimensions and consistently predicted higher level of loneliness. Results also revealed, that alexithymia partially mediated the effects of both attachment avoidance and attachment anxiety on participant’s levels of loneliness. The findings underline that individuals who have the capacity to understand and express their emotions can benefit from receiving emotional support and feel less lonely. Theoretical and practical implications, as well as, directions for future research are also discussed
