    Get PDF
In the past decade, significant progress has been made in hyperspectral image (HSI) classification due to advances in deep learning techniques. This study introduces a novel computational framework for classifying HSIs using a multiscale 3D convolutional neural network (3DCNN). The purpose of this research is to enhance the efficiency of HSI classification by leveraging the spatial-spectral characteristics of HSI data. The methodology involves preprocessing HSI datasets, extracting features using parallel 3DCNN layers with skip connections, and evaluating performance on five benchmark datasets. Key findings demonstrate that the proposed model significantly improves classification accuracy, achieving average accuracies of 85%, 84%, 94%, 98%, and 95% on the Kennedy Space Center (KSC), Indian Pines (IP), Pavia University (PU), Pavia Centre (PC), and Botswana (BW) datasets, respectively. The originality of this study lies in the multiscale parallel design of the 3DCNN architecture, which balances computational complexity with enhanced performance. Limitations include the high computational cost associated with training deep networks, which can be mitigated by graphics processing unit (GPU) acceleration and optimized implementations

    Get PDF
Antibiotic residues in aquaculture wastewater pose a significant environmental challenge, as conventional wastewater treatment plants are often ineffective in their removal. To overcome this challenge, this study developed TiO2 nanowires on nanotube arrays (TNWs/TNAs) and further enhanced them with Bi2Se2Te nanoparticle (NP) decoration for efficient photocatalytic degradation of metronidazole. The TNWs/TNAs were fabricated through anodization in an aqueous solution of NH4F/ethylene glycol, while Bi2Se2Te NPs were obtained via a plasma-assisted exfoliation technique and subsequently deposited onto the TNWs/TNAs. The photocatalytic efficiency of TNWs/TNAs and Bi2Se2Te-TNWs/TNAs was evaluated by monitoring the degradation of metronidazole under ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) illumination using the HPLC-PDA method. All TiO2 nanostructures exhibited the anatase phase and displayed a distinct morphology, characterized by nanowires extending from nanotube arrays. The decoration of Bi2Se2Te nanoparticles onto TNWs/TNAs was visualized through SEM imaging and further validated using EDS, UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy, and Raman spectroscopy analysis. Both TNWs/TNAs and Bi2Se2Te-TNWs/TNAs effectively and rapidly degraded metronidazole, achieving removal efficiencies of 71.8% and 83.0% after 20 minutes of UV-Vis irradiation (100 mW·cm⁻²), respectively. Furthermore, the reaction rate constant of Bi2Se2Te-TNWs/TNAs (85.4 × 10-3 min-1) was higher than that of TNWs/TNAs (60.7×10-3 min-1), which was primarily attributed to the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) effect of Bi2Se2Te NPs and enhanced charge separation within the hybrid Bi2Se2Te-TNWs/TNAs system. These findings demonstrate that Bi2Se2Te-TNWs/TNAs exhibit superior photocatalytic performance for antibiotic degradation, offering a promising strategy for wastewater treatment

THE EFFECTS OF FAMILISM ON FAMILY CAREGIVER BURDEN IN VIETNAM: THE MEDIATING ROLE OF SOCIAL SUPPORT

    Get PDF
This study examines how familism influences caregiver burden through the mediating role of social support among family caregivers of older adults in Vietnam, where rapid population aging presents significant challenges, with life expectancy at 75 years but healthy life expectancy at only 67.5 years (World Health Organization, 2019). Using a quantitative approach, we employ structural equation modeling to analyze data from 201 family caregivers of adults aged 65 and older in Hanoi, Vietnam. The findings revealed that both dimensions of familism–familial obligation and interconnectedness–negatively correlate with caregiver burden and that this relationship is partially mediated by social support. Specifically, stronger familistic beliefs are associated with increased social support, which in turn reduces caregiver burden. This study makes a novel contribution by being the first to examine the complex dynamics between cultural values, social support, and caregiving outcomes in the context of Vietnam, a developing country. The study addresses the current gap in understanding how internal resources (cultural beliefs) and external resources (social support) collectively influence caregiving outcomes. The findings provide valuable insights for developing culturally sensitive interventions and policies by suggesting ways to strengthen family support systems and leverage the existing cultural emphasis on familism. Practical implications indicate that reducing caregiving burden can positively impact employment status and wages for workers in the labor market (Marinho et al., 2022; Skira, 2015). Future research should consider examining additional cultural determinants and assessing intervention effectiveness for enhancing social support within Vietnam’s rapidly aging society

EVALUATING BARRIERS TO INDUSTRY 4.0 ADOPTION IN ASIAN MANUFACTURING ENTERPRISES: A FUNNEL PLOT ANALYSIS APPROACH

    Get PDF
Industry 4.0 (I4.0) has attracted significant attention in manufacturing fields, but its implementation success rate remains low, particularly among Asian countries facing barriers. This study synthesizes key challenges to I4.0 adoption in Asian manufacturing, drawing on funnel plot analysis and a systematic review of Scopus database entries to evaluate reliability and publication bias. The study’s validity is reinforced by a systematic review process, while its reliability is established through the rigorous application of funnel plot analysis to evaluate publication bias, thereby providing a comprehensive understanding of these barriers. Important barriers identified include a lack of technical skills, high implementation costs, limited IT literacy, concerns around data security, and unclear returns on investment (ROI), among others. These findings offer actionable insights for addressing I4.0 implementation challenges and support successful adoption across diverse manufacturing contexts in Asia. While some barriers receive less immediate attention, they act as underlying causes that trigger other, more critical barriers, creating a compound effect on I4.0 adoption. Exploring the interconnections among barriers through advanced analytical methods is crucial to uncovering their cascading effects and developing integrated strategies to address them. In addition, future research should include country-specific empirical studies to further understand regional variations and unique factors impacting I4.0 adoption

    Get PDF
Bagasse, which is primarily composed of cellulose, is an abundant by-product of the sugarcane processing industry. Bagasse can cause environmental pollution if not properly treated. This study aims to isolate cellulose-degrading bacteria from sugarcane bagasse and investigate their ability to decompose bagasse. Thirty bacterial strains were isolated on a carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) medium from 14 sugarcane bagasse samples. The evaluation of the ability to degrade CMC substrates revealed that CMC degradation rings of isolated strains ranged from 1.333 to 7.600 mm. Five bacterial strains, 7B1, 8A2, 10A1, 11A1, and 11B1, exhibited large degradation rings. These five bacterial strains were further tested for their ability to degrade pulp substrates on agar medium, and three of them, 11A1, 7B1, and 11B1, exhibited the largest degradation rings of 7.467 mm, 7.067 mm, and 7.067 mm, respectively. The ability of bacterial strains 11A1, 7B1, and 11B1 to decompose bagasse was also tested, and after 7 days, the percentage of bagasse weight loss reached 27.00%, with bacterial strain 7B1 demonstrating a particularly strong ability to decompose bagasse at 28.87%. The 16S rDNA sequencing results revealed that strain 7B1 is 98.00% similar to Pseudomonas monteilii and Pseudomonas plecoglossicida. The high cellulose degradation ability of bacteria has potential applications in further practical study

This study explores the impact of corporate social responsibility (CSR) on tourists’ satisfaction and loyalty, focusing on factors related to corporate social and economic outcomes. It also examines how consumer income moderates the relationship of CSR on customer loyalty, customer satisfaction, and corporate reputation. A mixed-methods approach was employed, starting with expert interviews and followed by a questionnaire survey targeting Vietnamese tourists aged 18 and above staying at 4- and 5-star hotels in Phu Quoc City, Vietnam. A random sampling technique yielded 271 valid questionnaires for analysis, and partial least squares structural equation modeling was employed to evaluate the model and test hypotheses. The results show that CSR positively influences customer loyalty, customer satisfaction, service quality, and corporate reputation. Both service quality and corporate reputation were found to positively affect customer satisfaction and loyalty, with customer satisfaction having the strongest influence on customer loyalty. Importantly, consumer income was shown to positively moderate the impact of CSR on perceived corporate reputation. These results provide valuable insights for identifying CSR factors that can improve customer satisfaction and loyalty. Additionally, they highlight service quality and corporate reputation as key areas for enhancing customer satisfaction and loyalty. The study also sheds light on the moderating role of income, a topic that has been relatively underexplored in hospitality management research. The managerial implications discussed offer practical guidance for hotel businesses seeking to develop strategies to attract and retain customers

THE IMPACT OF CAPITAL BUFFER ON CREDIT RISK IN THE VIETNAMESE BANKING SYSTEM

    Get PDF
This article examines the impact of capital buffer on credit risk in the Vietnamese banking system and whether external factors such as the COVID-19 pandemic and capital regulation influence this relationship. Regression results on a sample of 31 Vietnamese commercial banks from 2010 to 2022 indicate that increasing capital buffers reduces credit risk. However, when capital buffers reach a sufficient level to create a protective cushion for banks against potential losses, banks become more willing to make risky lending decisions that increase credit risk. The research findings reveal that the COVID-19 pandemic did not affect the relationship between capital buffer and credit risk, and that the implementation of Basel II capital adequacy regulations increased the capital buffers of banks and significantly reduced credit risk. This article bridges the gap in the literature regarding the impact of capital buffers on credit risk in Vietnamese commercial banks and provides important implications for bank managers as well
