System-Level Timing Performance Estimation Based on a Unifying HW/SW Performance Metric

    No full text
The rapidly increasing complexity of embedded systems and the critical impact of non-functional requirements demand the adoption of an appropriate system-level HW/SW co-design methodology. This methodology tries to satisfy all design requirements by simultaneously considering several alternative HW/SW implementations. In this context, early performance estimation approaches are crucial in reducing the design space, thereby minimizing design time and cost. To address the challenge of system-level performance estimation, this work presents and formalizes a novel approach based on a unifying HW/SW performance metric for early execution time estimation. The proposed approach estimates the execution time of a C function when executed by different HW/SW processor technologies. The approach is validated through an extensive experimental study, demonstrating its effectiveness and efficiency in terms of estimation error (i.e., lower than 10%) and estimation time (close to zero) when compared to existing methods in the literature

L'integrazione delle differenze culturali e linguistiche nella gestione dei casi della Consigliera di fiducia

    No full text

    No full text
A pioneer of the Thomistic revival in Italy, the Piedmontese Jesuit Luigi Taparelli d’Azeglio was one of the most prominent and influential figures within the intransi-gent front of 19th-century Italian Catholicism. Through his Saggio teoretico and vari-ous writings in La Civiltà Cattolica, of which he was a founding member, this paper seeks to explore Taparelli’s reflections on a topic rarely studied by scholars: war and, by extension, peace. These reflections would later shape the journal’s editorial stance and influence papal thought well into the 20th century

Occurrence of mycotoxins of the beauvericin and enniatin groups in infant foods and risk assessment study

    No full text
The aim of this study was the determination of mycotoxins belonging to beauvericin and enniatin groups in infant foods to be considered for the assessment of dietary exposure. The extraction phase with acetonitrile was followed by a purification step before liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis. The method was suitable to detect these mycotoxins in different categories of infant foods (cereal-based creams, biscuits, and pasta) at concentrations between 0.30 μg/kg for beauvericin and enniatin A and 0.60 μg/kg for the remaining enniatins (A1, B and B1) up to a maximum of 20 μg/kg. Beauvericin was the most detected mycotoxin in pasta samples (15%) at a maximum concentration of 1.1 μg/kg, while enniatin B showed the highest presence (90%) in biscuits, at levels ranging from 0.63 to 11 μg/kg. Enniatin B1 was found in all matrices at comparable ranks of positivity, with the highest occurrence rate (30%) in biscuits. The highest estimated daily intake was observed in infant consumers aged 1–3 years and was associated with the consumption of biscuits, followed by samples of pasta and cereal-based creams. It was higher in infants than in children aged 4–9 years due to consumption data expressed per kg of body weight. The lowest estimated daily intake was obtained for beauvericin in all matrices as its concentrations were lower than those of the enniatin group. The results of this study highlighted the need to implement monitoring also for these mycotoxin groups, paying particular attention to infants as a high-risk category

IL MINORE E L’ILLECITO IN ETÀ IMPERIALE. RIFLESSIONI GIURISPRUDENZIALI E TRACCE NORMATIVE

In what terms and to what extent the prepubescent is called to answer for the consequences of illicit acts has been the subject of legal reflection since ancient times and is a theme marked by complex and non rigid profiles. Roman law contemplates ever increasing degrees of awareness in acting and for the effect it estimates differently, from birth to puberty, the manifestation of will for the purposes of imputation of the illicit act. This is also due to the peculiar nature of the crime committed. Adultery, due to the implications with the very essence of Romanity protected by the legal system and due to the biological characteristics essential for the consummation, stands out from other illicit acts quoniam tale crimen post pubertatem incipit

Consumers’ perceptions and willingness to pay for a hypothetical microplastics-free labelled bottled water: an empirical study in Italy

    No full text
The surge of global plastic production has led to the rise of microplastics that have contaminated primary terrestrial ecosystems and various food sources, including bottled water. This study explores consumers’ perceptions of microplastic contamination in bottled water and assesses their willingness to pay (WTP) for a hypothetical “microplastic-free” label. Data were collected from a sample of 344 Italian consumers using an online questionnaire and analysed with a single-bounded dichotomous choice method to determine respondents’ purchase intentions for a 1.5-litre water bottle with a hypothetical microplastic-free label. Surveyed participants were given the choice between a standard water bottle priced at €0.42 and a water bottle labelled microplastic-free priced randomly between €0.43 and €2.00. A probit model was used to analyse factors that influence the respondents’ WTP. The results of the study indicate that consumers prefer microplastic-free water, which is reflected in their WTP a premium price for such a product. A positive correlation was found between the WTP and the awareness of the microplastic issue, consumers’ pro-environmental attitudes and their concerns about potential negative health effects associated with microplastic ingestion. However, consumers remain price sensitive, and a higher price negatively impacts the WTP. This study contributes to the economic literature by describing implications for marketing strategies, manufacturing practices, and policy design

Fray Sebastián de Aparicio, a Saint for Puebla de los Ángeles

This book reveals the importance of saints in New Spain, a viceroyalty that was part of the Spanish Empire from 1521–1821, covering modern-day Mexico, Central America, and the US Southwest. In the late sixteenth century, Rome’s attempts to manage sanctity as an official process had a profound impact throughout Spain and the Spanish viceroyalties. Saintly devotions traveled to Mexico, and circulated within the vast territory as images or print, then to be transformed by New Spain’s own communities
