    Uniform: The Form Validation Language

    Get PDF
Digital forms are becoming increasingly more prevalent but the ease of creation is not. Web Forms are difficult to produce and validate. This design project seeks to simplify this process. This project is comprised of two parts: a logical programming language (Uniform) and a web application. Uniform is a language that allows its users to define logical relationships between web elements and apply simple rules to individual inputs to both validate the form and manipulate its components depending on user input. Uniform provides an extra layer of abstraction to complex coding. The web app implements Uniform to provide business-level programmers with an interface to build and manage forms. Users will create form templates, manage form instances, and cooperatively complete forms through the web app. Uniform’s development is ongoing, it will receive continued support and is available as open-source. The web application is software owned and maintained by HP Inc. which will be developed further before going to market

The methods used to prepare a pure sample of diethylenetriamine-N, N, N[superscript]\u27, N[superscript]\u27\u27-tetraacetic acid-N[superscript]\u27\u27-propionic acid (DTTAP) are reported; The evaluation of the protonation constants of DTTAP and of the stability constants of its anion-lanthanide complexes is also reported; The stability constant data provide information about the nature of chelation of the trivalent lanthanide ions with polyaminopolycarboxylate ligands; This new ligand shows promise as a chelating agent that can assist in the successful separation of trivalent actinides from the trivalent lanthanides. A successful Ln/An separation is necessary for the effective disposal of high-level radioactive wastes that contain the transuranic actinide elements

Cardiovascular Service Line Chaplain at an Academic Medical Center: Creation, Implementation, and Establishment

Problem Statement: As health care providers and organizations have become complex and specialized, efforts to address the spiritual needs of patients and care team members are often absent. Background: Medical advances, life-saving treatments, and increased efficiency of patient care have all come at a cost to patients and health care providers. We appropriately measure our care team’s performance with disease- and procedure-specific data on morbidity and mortality. However, these measurements come at the risk of rewriting Hippocrates’ endeavor from “cure sometimes, relieve often, comfort always” to “cure always.” The suggestion that failure is not an option is an unattainable expectation with a high price, namely the spiritual distress of care team members, patients, and their families. In 2018, The Joint Commission addressed the issue of unmet spiritual needs, stating that these needs can be associated with greater emotional distress, pain, and anxiety; higher medical care costs; and poorer quality of life. Application: In 2015, the cardiovascular service line at an academic medical center implemented a spiritual care provider position to address the unmet spiritual needs of patients and care team staff. In this article, we describe (1) the evolution of the spiritual care provider’s role and (2) the impact of this resource on the healing of patients and as a support for the personal and professional well-being of health care providers

ErbB3 signaling prevents cardiac fibrosis after isoproterenol-induced myocardial injury

We generate a new tamoxifen-inducible mice model of EC-specific ErbB3 overexpression to investigate the role of ErbB3 in myocardial ischemia and heart failure. In the present study, we compared cardiac function and fibrosis development in EC cell-specific ErbB3 overexpressing mice versus control after the Isoproterenol (ISO)-induced model of cardiac injury, which culminates in cardiac fibrosis development.https://knowledgeconnection.mainehealth.org/lambrew-retreat-2023/1011/thumbnail.jp

Inverse Design of Three-Dimensional Nanoantennas for Metasurface Applications

    Get PDF
Recent advances in manufacturing techniques have been made to match the demand for high performance optical devices. To this end, tremendous research activity has been focused on optical metasurfaces as they offer a unique potential to achieve disruptive designs when paired with innovative fabrication techniques and inverse design tools. However, most metasurface designs have revolved around canonical geometries. While these elements are relatively easy to fabricate, they represent only a small portion of the design space, and rarely offer peak performance in transmission, phase range or field of view. In this work, a Lazy Ant Colony Optimization (LACO) technique is applied in conjunction with a full-wave solver using the Periodic Finite Element Boundary Integral (PFEBI) method to reveal high performing three-dimensional nanoantenna designs with potential applications for a variety of optical devices
