Tematika handicapu zůstává v české literatuře pro děti a mládež ve druhé polovině 20. století opomíjenou. Teprve v posledním dvacetiletí se téma handicapu znovu vynořuje a je zpracováváno v rozmanitých žánrových formách a s ohledem na různé věkové kategorie nedospělých recipientů.
