La mita minera a debate en el contexto de las Cortes de Cádiz (1810-1814). Entre viejos esquemas y nuevas concepciones.

Abstract

This article centers on the debate that confronted defenders and challengers of the mita system in the sessions of the Cortes de Cádiz, of which the latter were “transitory winners”, as is reflected in the decree of November 9th, 1812. Despite taking place outside of the special and temporal boundaries of the Cortes de Cádiz, this article also deals with the arguments revolving around this colonial institution caused by the revocation by Fernando VII of that decree. Ultimately, it puts into conversation the debates of the Cortes de Cádiz with those generated in America over the same problematic.Este trabajo se centra en el debate que enfrentó a defensores e impugnadores del sistema mitayo en las sesiones de las Cortes de Cádiz, del cual resultaron “vencedores transitorios” los últimos, tal como refleja el Decreto de 9 de noviembre de 1812. Se abordan también, pese a quedar fuera del ámbito espacial y temporal de las Cortes gaditanas, los discursos en torno a esa institución colonial generados a raíz de la revocación por Fernando VII de aquel Decreto. Por otro lado, se ponen en relación los debates de las cortes gaditanas con los generados en América sobre la misma problemática
