Uji Fitokimia dan aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak metanol daun salam (Syzygium polyanthum) telah dilakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui metabolit sekunder yang terkandung pada ekstrak metanol daun salam dan konsentrasi hambat minimum (KHM) ekstrak tersebut. Uji aktivitas antibakteri dilakukan dengan metode difusi menggunakan kertas cakram. Ekstrak metanol daun salam (Syzygium polyanthum) metanol daun salam mengandung steroid, flavonoid dan fenolik. Konsentrasi hambat minimum ekstrak metanol daun salam (Syzygium polyanthum) terhadap Staphylococcus aureus sebesar 0-1% dan terhadap Salmonella typhi sebasar 1-2%.
Phytochemical test and antibacterial activity of methanol extract of salam leaves (Syzygium polyanthum) have been done. This research aimed to identify the secondary metabolites and to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of methanol extract of salam leaves. Antibacterial activity was performed by diffusion method. The methanol extract of salam leaves (Syzygium polyanthum) contained steroids, flavonoids, and phenolics. The MIC value of methanol extract of salam leaves (Syzygium polyanthum) against Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella typhi ranging from 0-1% and 1-2%, respectively
