THE ARAB AMERICAN INSTITUTE was founded in 1985 to encourage Arab American participation in electoral politics and to promote access to the political parties. In this vein, AAI provides practical training for professional and voluntary participation in political campaigns, elections, and conventions and supports voter registration and education projects. The Institute also serves as a national resource center for the media, government agencies, political leaders and the public on domestic and foreign policy issues in which Arab Americans have an interest and concern. In 1989, the Institute organized the Arab American Leadership Council, a national bipartisan network of Americans of Arab descent who have held elected, appointed or party positions.
