It looks terrific. On behalf of the Division, my congratulations to you (and Anna) for a job well done. There is a nice diversity of information and the format is good. Perhaps as we grow, we can add even more information, and some art work. Do you have extra copies of the newsletter? It might be good to send copies to the ASC President, President-Elect, Vice-President, Vice-President-Elect, and Executive Board members. Or at least to the present and future elected officers. They will then get an idea of what we are about, and the networking we have undertaken in earnest. I know Bill Chambliss (President-Elect) would appreciate receiving a copy. What do you think? Did you get the finances squared away? I heard no negative comments from other Board members, and assume, therefore, that it is appropriate for you to be reimbursed for the $35 you spent. Were there other expenses? Did Anna have any expenses, or was she able to cover the costs within her program? For reimbursement, you need to send Sarah a letter, including any receipts, indicating the costs incurred. You will receive an ASC check, but the money will be from our budget. Please send a copy of the request for reimbursement to me for the files. Apparently there are a number of former Division members who have not yet paid dues. Your note in the newsletter urging members to sign up again was a good idea. In addition, I prepared a memo for Sarah Hall to send to former Division members re. payment of dues, and mailed that last Friday (March 13th) with instructions to send it out as soon as possible. 1151! 1314 Kinnear Road , Columbus, Ohio 43212 (614) 422-9207 Nicky Rafter and I both urged Sarah to consider an alternative format to indicate that dues for the Division are to be paid annually, as it is possible that its current placement goes unnoticed. Nicky said when she paid her dues, she didn't see it. Nicky sent her a better example of the form for payment. Perhaps the Division should send a letter to all members, maybe at the end of the year to indicate that dues for the Division are to be paid annually. Maybe Sarah could note that on the payment form as well. It's such a pleasure to work with you, a competent, caring person. Hope all's well in the warm sunny South. Helen was glad we were going to i nc lude it. (Don't sign my name to it as a contributor of the newsblurb because I have articles in the Ency. [along with many other div. members] and it might look self-serving. Second, find an abstract of a new dissertation by a new colleague of mine. I wonder if we might not print part of this? I can't remember whether we have a section for new diss.s on women & crime, along with the book reviews hut it might be a good idea to start this, no? Third, an unfinished piece. This has to do with the art series I s poke with you about last fall. There is a brief intro. to the series, and then a first piece for the series. There are things I have to do before we can go forward with this, even if you like the idea. I am going to get in touch with art historians here and find out how to get permission to reproduce, how to reproduce effectively (what I sent you is already dreadful and will never reproduce in the newsletter as is) and also more infor. on where works of Kahl o's may be viewed in America.
