Este artigo pretende desenvolver uma análise do conceito de referência em Ricœur.
Esta análise sustenta a tese de que o conceito de referência em Ricœur tem um
caráter híbrido, porque se relaciona com dois paradigmas diferentes da fi losofi a
da linguagem. A referência é concebida, por um lado, à maneira dos protagonistas
da fi losofi a analítica, como referência a algo manifestamente extralinguístico.
Este extralinguístico ultrapassa, porém, o estatuto do literalmente referido, aproximando-se
novamente do referido como derivado do sentido, não obstante a função
particular do simbólico, através da qual Ricœur pretende salvaguardar o estatuto
extralinguístico da referência não-literal.Th is article aims at developing an analysis of the concept of reference in Ricœur.
Th is analysis supports the thesis that the concept of reference in Ricœur has a
hybrid character, because it relates two diff erent paradigms of the philosophy of
language. Reference is intended on the one hand, the way of the protagonists of
analytic philosophy, as a reference to something manifestly extra-linguistic. Th is
extra-linguistic exceeds, however, the status of literality, conceiving reference again
as determined by meaning, despite the particular role of the symbolic by which
