setores da sociedade e a que a escola e os professores não podem ficar indiferentes. Assistimos
assim ao proliferar de uma nova geração de software gratuitos e ao desenvolvimento de um corpo
de investigação, que mostra que a utilização destes aplicativos da denominada geração Web 2.0
podem potenciar a criação de ambientes de aprendizagem mais interativos e criativos,
promovendo o desenvolvimento de uma diversidade de competências curriculares em diferentes
disciplinas e níveis de ensino.
É neste contexto que surge o software Noteflight, desenvolvido em Boston, no âmbito da música,
com o objetivo primordial de criar e partilhar composições musicais. Este editor de partituras
inovador está disponível online e permite criar um ambiente virtual muito versátil, possibilitando a
realização em tempo real de composições, com ferramentas adequadas às várias exigências de
edição sem ser necessário a inclusão de sintetizadores ou de qualquer outro programa.
A investigação reportada no presente trabalho, teve como objetivo verificar se, e de que forma, a
utilização do software Noteflight na aula de Educação Musical em atividades de transcrição, de
composição e improvisação, contribui para o desenvolvimento de competências essenciais da
disciplina em alunos do 2º ciclo do ensino básico. Em termos metodológicos o estudo empírico
tomou o formato de um estudo de caso misto em que, para a recolha e triangulação de dados,
foram usadas técnicas de observação (diário de bordo e grelhas de observação estruturada), o
inquérito por questionário, a entrevista de grupo (focus group) bem como a avaliação dos
artefactos criados pelos alunos.
Os resultados mostram que o trabalho desenvolvido com o software Noteflight constituiu um
momento de aprendizagem distinto do habitual, mais motivador, que potencializou o interesse e
o empenho dos alunos, facilitando a aquisição e compreensão de diferentes conceitos do
programa da disciplina. Foi ainda possível constatar que, a realização do trabalho em grupo, tanto
na sala de aula como online, facilitou a troca de saberes, a partilha de ideias, o aumento da
interação entre os alunos, da confiança e da capacidade de gerir conflitos favorecendo o
desenvolvimento de competências sociais e tecnológicas essenciais no mundo globalizado em que
vivemos, bem como a criatividade musical.Recent times have been marked by fast technological changes that struck different sectors of
society and to which schools and teachers cannot be indifferent to. Consequently, we witnessed
the proliferation of a new generation of free software and the development of research teams that
shows us that the use of these applications, called Web 2.0 generation, can help creating learning
environments that are far more interactive and creative, thus promoting the development of a
diversity of different curricular skills in different subjects and levels of education.
It is within this context that the Noteflight software, developed in Boston, appears to music, being
its main purpose that of creating and sharing musical compositions. This innovative publisher of
musical papers is available online and lets you create a very versatile virtual environment, allowing
real-time compositions with the appropriate tools for the different demands of editing, this
happening without the need for synthesizers or any other programs.
The research reported in this essay intended to verify if and how to use the software Noteflight
within Music classes, in transcription, composition and improvisation activities and contributed to
the development of essential skills of students of the 5th and 6th grade in Music classes. In
methodological terms this empirical study took the form of a combined study case in which were
used, for the gathering and triangulation of data, observation techniques (diaries and structured
observation grids), questionnaire surveys and group interviews (focus group) as well as the
evaluation of the artifacts created by the students.
The results show that the work developed with the software Noteflight was an unusual, unique and
more motivating moment of learning, which potentiated the awareness and commitment of the
students, thus enabling the acquisition and understanding of different concepts of the syllabus. It
was also possible to perceive that the realization of group work, both in the classroom and online,
enabled the knowledge exchange, the sharing of ideas, the increasing of interaction between
students, the self-assurance and the ability to manage conflicts, hence favouring the development
of social and technological skills, essential for musical creativity and for the globalized world in
which we live in
