Metáfora e linguagem económica tornaram-se partes de uma atração fatal que vêm dando à luz inúmera descendência verbalizada. Partindo da posição de Lakoff e Johnson (1980:10) sobre a sistematização metafórica ("Because the metaphorical concept is systematic, the language we use to talk about that aspect of the concept is systematic") pretende-se perceber como se constrói essa sistematicidade nas metáforas ligadas à Bolsa de Valores e mercados financeiros.
Assenta, esta análise, sobretudo na perspetiva de metáfora concetual introduzida por Lakoff e Johnson (1980) e na importância da relação entre metáfora e metonímia (Goossens 1990; Barcelona 2000; Dirven & Pörings 2002).Metaphors and the language of economics have become part of a fatal attraction that has given rise to a considerably large offspring. Starting from Lakoff and Johnson’s view (1980: 10) on the metaphorical systematization (“Because the metaphorical concept is systematic, the language we use to talk about that aspect of the concept is systematic.”) we want to show how this systematicity is built on metaphors linked to the stock markets and financial markets. This analysis is primarily based on the perspective of Conceptual Metaphor introduced by Lakoff and Johnson (1980) and on the importance of the relationship between metaphor and metonymy (Goossens 1990, Barcelona 2000; Dirven & Porings 2002)
