conflito trabalho-família, no conflito família-trabalho e no compromisso organizacional. The aim of this study is to contribute to the understanding of factors that may explain
the utilization of the Family Friendly Practices (FAP), as well analyze their effectiveness.
Specifically, was examined the contribution of dimensions as the perception of family support
by the organization and the existence of sources of support concerning the utilization of FAP
and affective organizational commitment, work-family conflict and work-family conflict in
terms of their effectiveness.
Data were collected through an online questionnaire in a company of Information
Technology (IT) based in Porto and was obtained a total of 82 responses.
The results evidence that, in organization under study, neither the perception of
organizational support, neither the existence of sources of support are correlated or predict
the use of FAP. It was also noted that for males the existence of children determines the
utilization of FAP and that these practices are more used by older employees, employees
that work more hours and higher hierarchical levels.
Regarding the effectiveness of FAP, it was found that their use don´t have relation
with work-family conflict and family-work conflict and the organizational commitment
