Abstract

En 30 ans, l'informatique, puis l'internet, ont investi la vie quotidienne de nombreuses personnes, y compris leurs pratiques intimes comme la séduction ou la consommation de pornographie. Cette thèse s'intéresse à la manière dont les cultures sexuelles et sentimentales se conjuguent aux technologies numériques, en particulier avec le développement des grandes plateformes du web 2.0. Elle repose sur des terrains ethnographiques, des entretiens et un questionnaire, effectués entre 1999 et 2015 et de discuter l'imperméabilité entre les études portant sur la rencontre en-ligne et cellesportant sur les effets des images pornographiques. Elle propose en réponse, un nouveau type d'objet : les médiations sexuelles numériques (M.S.N.) qui désigne continuum de médiations qui orientent la navigation techniquement et sexuellement, incluant rencontre et pornographies parmi d’autres formes. Avec un cadre théorique associant sociologie, Science &Technologies Studies et des SIC, cette thèsesoutient finalement la conception d'un dispositif de sexualité(s) qui est moins centré sur une discipline du sexe et la production de sa vérité (Foucault) que sur la prolifération, le contrôle et l'exploitation marchande des identifications et des expériences sexuelles. Ce dispositif réinstaure des hiérarchies sexuelles bien loin de l'utopie d'un cyberespace homogène et accueillant.Within 30 years, computers and the Internet have flooded the daily life of many people, including their practices of intimacy such as seduction or the consumption of pornography. This thesis addresses the way sexual and sentimental cultures articulate with digital technologies, and especially with the development of the major platforms of web 2.0. It relies on ethnographic field works, interviews, and a questionnaire conducted between 1999 and 2015, and allows to discuss the impermeability between the studies focusing on online dating and those focusing on the effects of pornographic imagery. In response, this thesis offers a new kind of object: the digital sexual mediations (D.S.M.),which appoint the continuum of mediations that orientates navigation both technically and sexually, including dating and pornography among other forms. With a theoretical frame that combines sociology, Science & Technology Studies and SIC, it comes to support the conception of an apparatus of sexualities that would focus less on the sexual discipline and the production of its truth (Foucault), but rather on the proliferation, control and commercial exploitation of sexual experiences and identifications. Such an apparatus tends to reinstate sexual hierarchies, quite far away from the utopia of an homogenous and welcoming cyberspace
