Chiral gauge theories on the lattice without gauge fixing?

Abstract

We discuss two proposals for a non-perturbative formulation of chiral gauge theories on the lattice. In both cases gauge symmetry is broken by the regularization. We aim at a dynamical restoration of symmetry. If the gauge symmetry breaking is not too severe this procedure could lead in the continuum limit to the desired chiral gauge theory.Comment: 3 pages, 1 figure, contribution to the 2nd IMACS conference on Computational Physics, UCSD/PTH 93-3
