Signalized Intersection Control Algorithms Overview

Abstract

Sustavi upravljanja prometom i algoritmi koji su implementirani u te sustave osnovna su tematika ovog završnog rada, koncept rada, prednosti takvih sustava te kako oni utječu na funkcioniranje prometne mreže. Opisano je funkcionalno područje upravljanja prometom prema ITS arhitekturi, upravljačke strategije koje su u primjeni diljem svijeta na semaforiziranim raskrižjima navedene su te isto tako i opisane. Navode se razlozi zašto je došlo do implementacije algoritama, opisani su najčešće korišteni algoritmi korišteni na semaforiziranim raskrižjima i navedene su prednosti istih. Opisan je koncept kooperativnih sustava u gradskim sredinama te su prikazane njegove prednosti i mogućnosti koje će doći s implementacijom takvih sustava.Traffic control systems and algorithms which are implemented in those systems are the main focus of this final paper, work concept, the advantages given by those systems and the effect which they have on the functioning of the traffic network. The functional area of traffic managment according to ITS architecture is described, the management strategies that are applied worlwide at intersections controled by traffic lights are listed and also described. Reasons for implementing algoritms are stated, the most frequently used algorithms used at a traffic light controled intersections are described and the advantages of the same are stated. The concept of cooperative systems in urban areas is described and its advantages and possibilities that will come with the implementatuion of such systems are presented
