The Phraseological Dictionary of the Silesian Dialects from the vicinity of Opole (on a cultural background)

Abstract

Frazeologia gwarowa Śląska Opolskiego jest świadectwem złożonych kontaktów międzykulturowych i etnicznych. Na tym obszarze stykały się bowiem dwie dominujące grupy językowe: słowiańska (Polacy) i germańska (Niemcy). Z tego względu sytuacja językowa Opolszczyzny znacznie różni się od gwar śląskich przemysłowej części Górnego Śląska. Do celów niniejszej pracy należą: 1) prezentacja zebranego materiału badawczego i jego szczegółowy opis w postaci Słownika frazeologicznego gwar śląskich okolic Opola, 2) rekonstrukcja językowego obrazu świata Ślązaków opolskich na podstawie zgromadzonej frazeologii gwarowej, 3) analiza i klasyfikacja germanizmów frazeologicznych obecnych w mowie opolskich Ślązaków, 4) charakterystyka gwary opolskiej w oparciu o nagranie i materiał słownikowy oraz 5) ukazanie specyfiki kulturowej regionu opolskiego.Frazeologia gwarowa, stanowiąca o przynależności kulturowej i etnicznej danej społeczności, jest wciąż słabo zbadaną dziedziną językoznawstwa. W przypadku Śląska Opolskiego – regionu o specyficznej odrębności społeczno-kulturowej – poczucie tej przynależności jest wyjątkowo silne. Wielu użytkowników gwary jednak jest nieświadomych wartości płynących z języka, w tym z frazeologizmów gwarowych.The vernacular phraseology of Opole Silesia is a testimony of complex intercultural and ethnical contacts since two dominant language families: the Slavic (Polish) and the Germanic (German) came into contact in this area. Hence the language situation of Opole Silesia differs significantly from vernaculars of the industrial part of Upper Silesia. The objectives of this thesis are to: 1) present the collection of the research material and its detailed description in form of Phraseological Dictionary of the Silesian Dialects from the vicinity of Opole; 2) reconstruct the lingual image of the world of the Silesians of the Opole Voivodship on the basis of collected vernacular phraseology; 3) analyze and classify the phraseological germanisms present in the speech of the Silesians of the Opole Voivodship; 4) characterize the Opole vernacular on the basis of the recording and lexicographical material and 5) show the cultural character of Opole Silesia.The vernacular phraseology which constitutes the cultural and ethnical identity of a specific community is still an under-examined area of linguistics. In case of Opole Silesia, a region characterized by a specific socio-cultural individuality, this sense of affiliation is particularly strong.
