At a meeting of the council of the· Seneca Nation of :New York In-dians, held at Salamanca, within the Allegany reservation, November 25, 1875, the following preamble and resolution were unanimously passed, and· copies ordered to be sent to the Senators and Representatives in Congress from New York, with the request that they urge the passage of an act in conformity thereto. Whereas it is important that all parties occupying and leasing lands belonging to the Seneca Nation of Ip.dians, as well as said nation, and all the members of it, shall conform to the provisions of the act of Con-gress of February 19, 1875, entitled "An act to authorize the Seneca Nation of New York Indians to lease land within the Cattaraugus and Allegany reservations, and to confirm existing leases," and to the sur-Yeys anu plans of the villages as they may be defined and laid out by the commissioners appointed by the President under Sf.tid act: There-fur~ · Resolvecl, That Congress be respectfully requested to make such an amendment to said act as will cause all parties to conform thereto, and such surveys and plans. Also, to give to the courts of the State of New York within and for the count.y of Cattaraugus having jurisdic-tion, and the circuit and district courts of the United States in and for the northern district of said State, power to enforce a compliance there-with.
