RESOLUTIONS OF THE STATE OF ·CALIFORNIA, IN RELATION TO Supplies furnished the Indian agent in said State. DECKMBER 16, 1863 -Referred to the Committee on Indian Affairs; and ordered to be printed. Assembly concurrent resolutiOn No. 14. Wh~reas many citizens of this State, in the years eighteen hundred and fifty-nine and eighteen hundred and sixty, were employed in the service of the United States by the agents of the Indian department, and others furnished the agents of the government with supplies for the several Indian reservations in California, upon the assurance and belief that the accounts therefor would be speedily paid, which has not to the present time been done; and whereas there is now an unexpen.ded balam.;e in the treasury of the United States of the appropriation for defraying the expenses of the Indian serviee in this State, and which is applieable to the accounts mentioned, and which has been withheld from the objects intended by the Congress making said appropriation • There .. fore-Be it resolved by the ·assembly, (the senate concurring,) That our senators be instructed, and our represent~tives requested, to urge on the proper authorities in Washington a prompt examination and settlement of the accounts aforesaid. Resolved, That the governor be requested to transmit a copy of the foregoing to each of our senators and representatives in Congress, to the Secretary of the Interior, and the Commissioner of Indian Affairs.
