Guilford College is looking to hire a leader and educator of vision to chair
its mathematics department. The chair will have the opportunity to build
a revolutionary mathematics program that invites all students into the joy,
beauty, creativity, and vitality of mathematics.
Guilford is hiring a chair for its mathematics department. This means:
• Implementing inclusive, innovative, and effective pedagogy that works
for math majors, theater majors, and all students regardless of identity.
• Supporting your vision with staffing and future tenure-track hires.
• Working effectively with departments whose majors need math.
• Maybe some thrilling cross-disciplinary collaborations?!
• Definitely spreading math love!
Founded by Quakers in 1873, Guilford College is a gem of a liberal arts
college with top-notch faculty, strong community, and innovative curriculum.
Faculty place emphasis on teaching excellence and rich academic relationships
with students.
Greensboro, NC, is a few hours from the Atlantic coast and Great Smoky
Mountains. Guilford is one of seven institutions of higher learning operating
in the city.
Guilford has an organic farm, a Bonner Scholars Program, a Center for Prin-
cipled Problem Solving and Excellence in Teaching, a thriving arts division,
and 300 acres of forest that is recognized by the National Parks Service as
an important Underground Railroad site.
