There are approximately 48,602 veterans living in the state of Vermont with roughly 20% residing in Chittenden County. According to national VA statistics, only 40% of the veteran population receives some health care from the VA. Currently UVM providers receive no formal training in delivering care to veterans and there are no military history templates or PTSD screening tools in PRISM.
