It hasindeed been reported that having certain comorbiditiesare associated with a change in choroidal thickness.Hypertension is associated with a decrease in choroidalthickness,1 and diabetes mellites has been found to co-exist with a thinner choroid as compared to normalcontrols.2 Furthermore, hypercholesteremia and obesityhave interestingly been linked with an increase in cho-roidal thickness.3,4 However, due to the sample size ofour study, we were unable to assess statistically multiplevariables which can potentially affect the choroidalthickness. Future studies with larger sample size shouldtake into account systemic factors such as hypertension,diabetes, hyperlipidemia or even states such as preg-nancy to evaluate the role of these variables in choroi-dal thickness change.2) We also agree that stress and anxiety associated ocular sur-gery may have a negative impact on choroidal permeabilityand may affect choroidal thickness change. The authors in theirstudy have discussed the advantages of early vitrectomy in dia-betic macular edema. However, we have a few comments tomake regarding the methodology and the interpretation ofresults in this study.1) The authors in this current study do not have a strict visualacuity criterion for including patients in the study.
