As the role of CCS in decarbonising gas for heat supply is primarily its ability to enable low carbon hydrogen production, SCCS’s response to the Carbon Connect’s consultation on the future of gas focuses on hydrogen and not biogas or bioSNG. However, it is worth noting that the application of CCS to biogas production could enable negative emissions, which are important in the context of the Paris Agreement ambition to reach net zero emissions
