Sc) -- CATIE, Turrialba (Costa Rica), 2008El objetivo de este estudio fue generar modelos generales para la estimaci?n de la biomasa a?rea, en funci?n de la arquitectura de cada especie y la ocupaci?n del rodal. El trabajo se desarroll? en dos etapas. La primera consisti? en hacer mediciones destructivas de la biomasa a?rea (follaje, ramas y fuste) para tres especies (Bombacopsis quinata, Cordia alliodora y Terminalia oblonga). Los resultados obtenidos indicaron que si bien la arquitectura propia de cada especie puede influir en la Producci?n de biomasa a?rea, el manejo silvicultural y la ocupaci?n del rodal afectan en mayor proporci?n esta Producci?n. The objective of this study was to develop generic models for the estimation of the aboveground biomass of trees as a function of tree architecture and stand stocking. The study was carried out in two stages. The first stage required destructive measurements of aboveground biomass (stem, branches and foliage) of three species (Bombacopsis quinata, Cordia alliodora and Terminalia oblonga). Obtained results show that, although there may be an influence of tree architecture in aboveground biomass yield, stand management and stand stocking do influence in a greater extent biomass yield
