El presente ensayo pretende, por un lado, mostrar un resumen de la evolución en materia de derechos civiles y políticos de ciudadanía venezolana a lo largo de los siglos XIX y XX; y por el otro, mostrar cómo ha evolucionado la economía del país a raíz de las políticas económicas impulsadas por los gobiernos de turno a lo largo de los mismos períodos. Sobre la evolución histórica en ambas temáticas se muestra los aciertos y desaciertos en materia política y económica, para finalmente establecer algunas consideraciones que permitan resarcir los errores del pasado mirando hacia el futuro. Finalmente, y en las conclusiones se establecen algunas consideraciones en torno a la situación actual de los derechos políticos y de la situación económica que vive Venezuela.The present essay intends, on the one hand, to show a summary of the evolution in civil and political rights of Venezuelan citizenship throughout the 19th and 20th centuries; and on the other, to show how the economy of the country has evolved as a result of the economic policies promoted by the governments of the same period. On the historical evolution in both themes, the successes and failures in political and economic matters are shown to finally establish some considerations that make it possible to compensate the mistakes of the past looking towards the future. Finally, and in the conclusions some considerations are established around the current situation of political rights and the economic situation in Venezuela
