The Young Carers’ Exceptional Stories (YES) project was developed to raise awareness of young carers’ issues and achievements. Funded through Big Lottery, the project operates in the borough of North Tyneside through a partnership between the local Carers’ Centre and YMCA.The project aimed to bring about long lasting change for young carers by raising awareness, giving them the same opportunities as other children and young people, and minimising any negative impact on their lives. Participants were aged between 10 and 18, and were caring for a family member because of illness, disability or substance use issues
