Trata-se de uma pesquisa para conhecer as representações sociais de profissionais de Enfermagem sobre o alcoolista que procura atendimento em serviço de Emergência de um Hospital de Florianópolis. Foi realizada através da aplicação de questionário constituído de estímulos verbais, cujas respostas foram gravadas e depois transcritas e categorizadas para a análise. Para os profissionais, o alcoolista é visto como dependente do álcool, pertence a camada mais pobre da população, tem alteração comportamental (excitação psicomotora ou sonolência, articula mal as palavras) a ponto de produzir reações negativas. Embora desejem ter atitudes técnicas, há uma tendência de classificar o alcoolista como “alguém que usurpa o atendimento de outros doentes de verdade”. Além desta, outras posições denotam uma postura de julgamento e carregada de contradições.A research is conducted to know the Social Representations of nursing for the alcoholist who reports to the Emergncy Hospital of Florianópolis looking for care. To the professionals. the alcoholist is seen as an alcohol addict, one who belongs to the economically poor layers of the population, shows behavior alterations (psychomotor excitation, or sleepness, with poor articulation of speech). to the point of producing negative reactions. In spite of their desire to show technical attitudes. professinals tend to classify the alcoholist as “someone who unduly ocupies the space destined to those who are really sick”. In addition to this. other positionings demonstrate a judging stance, loaded with contradictions
