The loss of national identity will expose the country to the threats of internal social decomposition and national decline. Singapore is a city-state with a distinctive national identity. At the current stage,its value and racial structure are the most important factors in shaping Singapore's national identity. Since its establishment,the Singaporean government took many measures to maintain a stable national identity. It encourages the Chinese ethnic to receive education of traditional value and to learn Chinese language. Meanwhile,the government balances and protects the interests and cultures of minorities in order to preserve the stability of shared values. It is also inclined to absorb more Chinese immigrants so that it can keep the stability of the country's ethnic structure
