  April 27, 2020  Faculty Senate Resolution 1 April 27, 2020 2 Resolution for holding a University Town Hall Meeting 3  4 1. Whereas the public health crisis of the coronavirus pandemic required the cancelation of 5 face-to-face meetings midway through Spring 2020; 6 2. Whereas the administration, following precedent set by other institutions, shifted all on 7 campus instruction to an “online” format after Spring Break;  8 3. Whereas Morehead State University’s SOAR Strategic Plan aspires to achieve Academic 9 Excellence through the following goals: 10 a. Goal 1: “Offer innovative, high quality, effectively delivered academic programs 11 that attract and retain students and promote academic success”  12 b. Goal 4: “Enhance physical learning environments, core instructional 13 infrastructure, and faculty teaching capacity”  14 4. Whereas Morehead State University’s SOAR Strategic Plan aspires to achieve Ranking, 15 Reputation, and Regional Responsiveness through the following goals and strategies 16 relevant to this resolution: 17 a. Goal 1: “Enhance the promotion of MSU as a highly respected university for 18 learning and working, and continue to cultivate our reputation of excellence”; 19 b. Goal 1 Strategy 1: “Clearly identify and communicate MSU’s distinctive attributes 20 to attract students, donors, faculty, staff, education partners and industry 21 partners”; 22  23 Resolved, that the Faculty Senate support FWC / ICs to recommend 24 • the Administration to call for a Town Hall Meeting through WebEx to effectively 25 communicate with faculty and staff to: 26 o discuss the university plans for the Fall 2020 semester  27 o discuss the university plan to return to face-to-face classes in the near future 28 o address any questions/concerns related to these plans  29  30
