The main purpose of this program was to provide test results that might be used in employment interviews of college seniors before the spring results were available. At the same time, the testing of students other than seniors was permitted, even though this was not a part of the recommended midyear program.The present bulletin reports the results of the second midyear testing pro­gram, which was held during the period January 2 to February 2, 1952. Including colleges which administered tests to students other than seniors, the number of colleges participating was fifty, which was the same as the number taking part in the 1951 midyear program.The total number of tests administered was 2,054, as compared with 2,183 in the preceding midyear program. Interestingly enough, more tests were administered outside the recommended program for seniors than within it. The total number of tests administered to seniors was 843, including 552 Level II Achievement Tests and 291 Orientation Tests. The number of tests administered to seniors was less than two-thirds of the number taken by seniors in the 1951 midyear program, but the number of tests given to other students was larger than the number a year ago. The Orientation Test was taken by 553 first-year students, as compared with 307 in the preceding midyear program, and 658 miscellaneous tests were given, as compared with 564 a year earlier. The miscellaneous group included Achievement Test, Level I, Forms A, B, and C; Achievement Test, Level II; the Orientation Test; and the Strong Vocational Interest Blank. The large majority of these were accounted for by the Level I Achievement Test.Twenty-six of the fifty colleges returned cards stating whether the testing was on a required or voluntary basis. Of these twenty-six colleges, the testing was required in twenty and was voluntary in six. Two of the six colleges in which the testing was voluntary stated that the groups taking the tests were representa­tive; one thought that the group was high; one said that the group was low; and two did not comment.The distributions of the scores of the seniors on the Orientation Test, Form C, and the Achievement Test, Level II, Form C, are shown in Tables I through IV. It will be observed that, as one would expect, the February graduates obtained medians that were a little higher than those of the June graduates in verbal score, quanti­tative score, Orientation Test total score, and Achievement Test score, but there was almost complete overlapping in the distributions for these two groups.The distributions of the Orientation Test scores of first-year accounting students from fourteen colleges are shown in Table V.The bulletins issued on the accounting testing program no longer contain com­parative charts showing distributions of scores of individual colleges such as were published in earlier bulletins. In lieu of the comparative charts, distributions of median scores of the classes tested in different colleges are shown in the same tables with the general distributions of student scores.
