Para além da erudição e do método: Álvaro Lins e Carpeaux

Abstract

A admiração mútua entre os críticos Álvaro Lins e Carpeaux transcendeu o campo das afinidades literárias e intelectuais. A amizade, que nasceu a partir da relação epistolar, tornou-se mais forte com a convivência, intensificada com o trabalho jornalístico de ambos no Correio da Manhã e, principalmente, com o intercâmbio de ideias que estabeleceram. Tendo como fonte as reflexões do crítico pernambucano sobre Carpeaux e sua obra, desenvolve-se algumas ideias a respeito do pensamento de ambos, sobre o tema do exílio do intelectual austríaco e sua tão propalada (e mal-compreendida) erudição.The mutual admiration between the critics Álvaro Lins and Carpeaux transcended the field of literaryand intellectual affinities. Their friendship, born of epistolary correspondence, grew stronger as theybecame personally acquainted and was intensified by their journalistic work at Correio da Manhã, and,above all, by the exchange of ideas established between them. Based on the reflections of Álvaro Lins aboutCarpeaux and his work, this article develops some observations concerning their critical thinking, the theme of the exile of the Austrian intellectual as well as his often noted (and misunderstood) erudition
